Gorgeous car, one of the cleanest i have seen!
  2. Thanks for all the responses and opinions. The car has been sold today at a price very close to my asking price. Well above some of the low ball quotes mentioned here. Thanks again!
  3. rdefabri - I think your response made the most sense and was the most acceptable explanation. One thing has been made very clear to me, the car will most likely NOT be sold to someone who already owns a s30 Z. You were completely correct in the statement when you said they over scrutinize every issue and possible cost. While it would be really helpful to sell the car right now I am not at the point where i am going to give it away for some of the prices thrown out. Surely i am pretty flexible on the price but to a certain degree. Admittedly, i originally bought a z because of my time lurking on hybridz.org and wanted to restore it and at the same time modify and swap in a more modern drive train. With my luck i realized the car i bought for this purpose is so original and complete that i have not had the heart to "bastardize" it. Most everyone who has seen the car said it would be a shame to do so to this car as it would be destroying a part of history. From some of the prices thrown out I am starting to rethink the whole originality thing. Apparently nobody seems to care that this is a stock and unmolested car with many of the original 37 year old parts in excellent condition. The thought of parting it out is coming into my head again and quite honestly I think i can sell a just a few select pieces and get the same $2000 people are offering for the whole car. How much is an original series 1 uncracked dash worth on ebay? the flawless series 1 steering wheel? (i personally saw one sell on ebay recently for over $250) the factory AM stereo, wheels/tires, misc interior panels, SU carbs, air cleaner, tail lights, etc... see what i mean?
  4. Ok, i really appreciate the responses and honestly that why I posted this thread. I can understand the price thing but my asking price was just that and i am willing to accept the best offer i get. Problem is most buyers seem to disappear when i tell them i will accept their offer? Would it be easier to just lower the asking price and be less flexible on the price to attract more buyers? Arne - you seem like an absolute professional with these cars and i am always blown away by the accuracy and knowledge in your posts. Do you mind sending me a PM with a price that you feel a car like this is worth and/or what i should be asking. (I dont want to make this thread an ebay type bidding war thats why i ask for the PM) If anyone else has a serious interest in the car please feel free to contact me.
  5. There is some rust in the rockers and the lip of the rear quarters but don't all other un-restored Datsuns that are not from california? I never considered it a major issue especially when replacement panels can be had for such great prices. Overall the car is very solid and a great candidate for restoration but then again thats just my opinion.
  6. btw, here is my craigslist ad: http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/car/476040331.html. shameless plug:nervous:
  7. Here is the issue. I have a very original series 1 240z that needs restoration and I have listed it on ebay, craigslist, etc but i still have the car. Are they normally hard cars to sell or am i doing something wrong? Dont get me wrong I have had TONS of interest and so many offers thrown my way and even when i agreed and thought we had a deal people are backing out and nobody was ever serious. I bought the car to have as a restoration project but my life has taken an unexpected turn recently and i must attend to different priorities right now and cant have the car sitting and taking up garage space for an indefinite amount of time. Any suggestions on how to sell the car to someone who will treat it right and sees the true value in the car?
  8. yor5150 - that was an awesome clip...thanks very much. Arne - that was exactly the answer i was looking for. I'm probably going to separate the tires and put them on eBay. As for the wheels i think i will restore/polish them up and then decide whether to sell them or keep them and put some modern tires on them. They are actually in excellent condition and just have minor tarnishing that will polish away with some metal polish. If I do decide to keep them what size tire would be most appropriate for a series 1 240z in order to keep the speedo correct? What is the most common tire size you guys run? I would really love to get some lower profile tires if at all possible.
  9. ok, i get the idea that Darbji (whoever that is) likes these wheels. But this isn't really a for sale thread yet and my main question is what are they worth? I figured the tires alone are worth some $$$ for those building a era correct restoration. Honestly if the set is only worth $100 i would rather just keep them.
  10. How much are these wheels worth and are they desirable? They have the 1970's era tires which are in excellent condition and almost new thread (uniroyal tiger paws)
