Motorsport Flush Mounted Mirror Kit
I had those mirrors on 721. They looked pretty good, I think. The driver mirror had a severe vibration issue I was never able to solve. Another problem was that I couldn't get the mirrors adjusted to my preference without physically shimming both the mounting holes in the plate and the mirror-to-base. This shimming gave the mirrors a "detached" appearance and wasn't as aesthetically pleasing as I wanted.

momo prototipo installed
My new Z had a smaller diameter Momo, similar to yours in size. I didn't like it. Oh, it felt better to the hand, I suppose, but the driving factor turned me off. With smaller diameter steering wheels, a mere nudge in one direction or the other tends to make the car a bit "darty." The larger wheel, given a nudge merely changes direction minutely. Or maybe it's just because I'm gettin' old....

Vibration when going above 65 mph
All of the above, but balancing should be your first act.

getting more HP in 78 280z
Depends on the carbs. You'll have a bit more wiggle-room in terms of cost and IMO, carbs provide the performance that some EFI setups can't.

Told everyone I got a new car....

Timing damage? I hope not...
You summed it up nicely. You probably have a bent valve or two.... :-(

Tuning 40 DCOE Weber 151 on an L24
Get a ZX 5-speed. You will NOT be disappointed, especially if you plug in an R200 3.90. I promise!

Newest Family Member...
Well, crap. Not only is my memory going, but so is my eyesight! I just went out to photo the plate, and lo and behold it says 12/70. Another change coming to my sig block....
-
Newest Family Member...
Yes, it does. I know the engine is not matching, 'cause it tossed #6 rod through the block about 6 months ago.

@ Carl, yep, I was wrong. Correct VIN now ensconced in my sig. block. @ PastorMike, I haven't had the occasion to measure the offset, but I presume it's zero.

I quoted the VIN from memory, Carl, and that device has shown to be faulty more frequently than ever. I'll double check today.

You're definitely marryin' up!

[2012] What did you do to/with your S30 today?
I washed and vacuumed the "new" Z. Took some glamor shots which are now posted here. Tomorrow will be her first show outing.

Introducing the newest member of the family. A 10/70 built '71, completely restored down to the last nut and bolt. Everyone say "Hello."

Towing a 1971 240Z with a car dolly
I would. For short distances, there'd be no need, but 300 miles is a lot of turning....

At least once.

Is this worth 1500$?
I saw rust on the right qtr in front of the wheel. A change of struts will solve the suspensio issue. If it runs, it's worth it.

Debadging: Yes or no?
I pulled the Datsun from the front fenders and from the hatch. The only badge that reads Datsun was on the hood. The 240Z emblems on the rear posts were retained, too. Makes it a little bit mysterious...

Series-1 Inspection Lid Clips - Another Attempt at Reprinting
I don't think pinching is the cause of breakage, at least it wasn't with mine on 721. The clips are just a leeetle bit too tall and do not line up exactly with the bar they snap onto, thereby breaking off one side or the other.

seatbelt is killing me
Auto parts stores sell a pad, usually wool, that wraps around the belt for just this reason. You might give that a look-see.

LED Taillight Swap
Everything worked before I plugged in the LED taillights and flasher and everything works after I changed back. Guess I'll wait 'til Dave gets back from MSA to ask more. Thanks for the thoughts.
