  1. You know, Carl, I can't find single flaw in your argument. I've scoured CListngs on the left coast all week-end. I found one I got all warm and fuzzy about, but it was priced higher than I'm prepared to go. My stepson has a legit line on a '70 with 20k miles, bone stock, one owner. I've GOTTA get to the finish line on this one before going with the devil I don't know.
  2. That does look interesting, Dave. The asking price seems a bit tall, but if it's negotiable, well then.... I'll contact them for more information. Thanks!
  3. These are just starting points. I'll post more as I run across them for the group's perusal. And yes, I'd travel a good distance to get the right one.

I think I saw that car on CL. Cars being "put up" or not being driven can have different reasons, from severe mechanical issues, to lack of insurance, to health of the owner, etc. You really need to speak to the owner to find out specifically. My car, fresh out of 10 years of storage, started on 10 year-old gas... but that gas was half Stabil and half fuel. A testament to Stabil. If you get the car, do not attempt to start it. Tow it home and then use the search function here on how to awaken the sleeping beast. There's a LOT of things you need to do before turning that key....
  5. I noticed that and asked him for suspension information. He has lots of rhetoric in his write up. Would that be an attempt to fluff up the car's attributes whilst ignoring it's faults?
  6. A completed (or mostly so) car, Keith.
  7. West Covina, Cali. What do you guys think? http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/cto/2908032510.html
  8. More coffee ingested. Orange County area.... http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/2846999516.html
  9. Posted same car twice. Not enough coffee yet...
  10. Anyone in Irvine, Cali know this car? http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/2906563114.html
  11. Any time you bend your Z, it's like a stake to the heart.....
  12. Sanity in Sacramento? It'll never happen.
  13. I discussed this with them today. Should have a salvage value within a few days.
  14. I'm thinking that direction, 5th. My step-son already has a '70 spotted for me w/20K alleged miles. That may be a bit of misinformation, though. We'll just wait and see.
  15. Already working on that Mike.
  16. New webbing, stock buckles and hardware. The belt is what compressed my ribcage.
  17. Thanks, Carl. If you would, please update your registry to reflect the demise of HLS30-00721. I know he'd appreciate the obituary.... Frank
  18. I'll try to answer your inquiries and will ask you guys a question or two as well. Was driving in the left lane (of course) of a 4-lane tollway at the speed limit. Had I been going 10 over as I usually do, none of this would have happened. A landscape truck towing a trailer was in the far right lane. He was a few yards ahead of me, but traffic was light and there were no cars between us so I saw the trailer come off his truck and immediately veer, hard left. I immediately nailed the brakes but the changing trajectory of the trailer (a decreasing radius arc) made it impossible to avoid. Because of the impact, the Z was kicked 90 degrees to the right and with the momentum of my speed and the stickiness of my tires, instead of spinning I was sent scooting across the 3 remaining lanes of traffic toot-sweet, headlong into the jersey barrier. Brakes didn't help, as the right front wheel was broken and I had zero steering control. The entire front suspension had been wiped out. Fortunately, witnesses of the event included two nurses on their way to work and I got more pulse taken and hand patting than I've had in a long time. Wouldn't let me get out of the car to survey the damage. EMS showed up, bolted me to a board and carted me off for CT and X-rays. All is well, but I can't sneeze without a lot of pain. Bruised ribs. They'll heal. But my baby is gone. Thank God for Hagerty. They've been with me four times today, checking on me, making sure I'm OK, explaining what'll happen next, etc. Now a question of all of you that may know how stuff like this works. I do plan on getting another Z. I'm not going to go as deep into the "new" Z in terms of performance, though. There are a few things I'd like to garner off the now-deceased Z such as the ZX tranny (if it wasn't damaged), the .390 differential, some goo-gaws under the hood, the 2400 valve cover, maybe the carbs and manifold, you know, stuff like that. What and how do I discuss with the adjuster the removal of any item from the car? Any expertise you can lend will be greatly appreciated and used to the fullest extent possible. Thanks for your comments and concerns. You guys truly are appreciated. Frank
  19. Disaster stuck this morning. The pretty gold 1970 Z was totaled in an accident. I'm fine, no major injuries, just pissed to the bone.
  20. Finished polishing my velocity stacks for the Mikes, installed a choke "starter" cable to see if it might help cold starts. No verdict on that yet.

I think you've found the non-symmetrical argument to be valid. The four ventilation grommets should be on both seat backs.
  22. You'll be installing the pump before you stab the distributor shaft in. Pour oil down the distributor shaft hole and fill the pump that way. All else should be pretty simple....

I agree with those that tell you to NOT buy the car except for parts. It will not be worth any amount of $$ you put into it, ever.
  24. That's the best news I've seen in a very, very long time.
  25. Check your grounds. Had the same thing occur on my 240. Cleaning the grounds solved the issue....
