  1. All of the front end bits on. Including the splash pan and a big arse sway bar.
  2. Well, hit another milestone today. Motor all tucked in and I think it is happy to be home. I have had a few days over the last few years thinking this day would never arrive. I hope to not start any threads about no spark/fuel/idle/weird noises, but cannot promise anything.
  3. Blue: I had no problems with getting the corners in. Finally got to install my new door panels. One more day and the inside will be done. Only big item left is the motor.
  4. Thought you might like to see a few of your parts on a car (Choke grommet, red check valve isolator and early hood bumpers). Very happy with the quality and fit of everything so far. Dan
  5. That is good to know. It is odd that this tread would show up now as I also just installed the rear bar the other day.
  6. Spent the day installing the front windshield. It worked out well, fingers are sore but no cuts in the rubber or my hands so I would call it a success.
  7. Thanks everyone. As promised an update. I installed a rear sway bar. Another one of the parts I bought 25 years ago and finally get to put it on a car. I have a 25mm bar for the front.
  8. Thanks, I have lots of plans, the first is to get the car done.
  9. Sure, I used a brass wire wheel on a elec motor to clean them, and then used "never-dull" to polish them up. I then sprayed a clear coat. They are silver rather than the zinc-cad finish. My plating system is not large enough to do them so I will live with the wrong finish.
  10. e-tek: had a slow month, not much progress on the car. Very busy with some house stuff. I have joined the ranks of the retired/unemployed so am planning on lots of progress/updates over the next couple of weeks.
  11. Mark: I was not able to used the metal bits, too far gone. I had the inside grill piece from another one so I was able to shine it up as well as the door spring. I am now looking for the ring that goes around the lighter.
  12. Center console in and choke plate. Had to take the glove box back out to get at a non op clock. Clock is working again. Now I see that the Tach that was stuck at 4000 (which I took apart, lubed and freed the stuck needle) now goes to 8000 when ever the power is turned on. Looks like I am pulling it and replacing with another one. I am really regretting not pulling the dash and going through everything on the bench. I was worried about cracking it so I left it alone. Oh well, something to remember for the next one.
  13. e-tek: It is the original vinyl, it has a few small nicks, but not bad overall. The carpet is the kit from MSA. Picked it up while on vacation when the dollar was at par. So I saved shipping/UPS charges which made it more cost effective. I am going to keep the tires for now, need to get it on the road for a while before upgrading them. Back to -30C at night, I am really getting tired of this winter. I see you guys had -40C with the windchiill.
  14. I use a 220 elec heater with a fan. One of those 1' cubed orange box construction style. For the last two weeks it has been -15C during the day and -28C at night, now it is -10C at night and 0C during the day. My heater can keep up with these temps.
  15. Finally warm enough to get back in the garage. Elec about 90% done. Finished the hatch area today.
  16. Are these what you are looking for? #40-J4116 Datsun 240Z Door Scuff Plate NOS - $138.00 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce
  17. No I do not think it was a cruise control, it was used to warm up the motor faster. A little choke and a bit higher rev gets you going sooner on a chilly morning. Not many cars would have them, I understand they were only installed on the very early cars. Lots of cars including mine would look like it was removed, but in fact it was never installed.
  18. I have a reproduction set of knobs that I bought a while ago. I do not think the guy is still making them. I will ask, but when I asked about another set a year ago he was not very interested in doing a run for one set. Maybe if there is enough interest here to put in an order that is large enough he might do a production run.
  19. I have been cad plating the parts myself with the Caswell kit. It has been a mix of both, I tried to have everything rebuilt while it was at the painters, but there was a few things I missed and I used a few parts from my spare parts pile and found out when I went to put them in that they did not work for a 1970 build car. So I had to modify them or restore the one that came with the car. I think I spend more time looking for little screws and other bits than i do putting parts on the car.
  20. As well, I too have noticed that this "import fee" is showing up on e-bay items. I have found the best place to order parts from is Rockauto as the price that is paid when you checkout is all that you will end up paying. I will not order from many US sources for parts because they only ship UPS and I hate getting ripped off by a brokeage bill a week or so after recieving the order.
  21. As well, when my painter asked for the paint code, he was happy with 901. I offered the PPG formula to him but he said that the Datsun 901 was enough. I do not have a factory painted car to compare it to, so I hope it is correct. Dan
  22. It had the bracket on the body and the gas pedal arm, I picked up lever and cable on e-bay for $35.00
