  1. Arnie: I agree with Darrel as long as the cars will roll freely, here is a photo of a tie-down hook I removed from a parts car. Someone tried to pull the car when it did not want to be moved. So be careful how much strain you put on the hook if it has one and you use it. Dan
  2. Arne: check or money order instead of PayPal works for me. Just let me know which works better for you. Dan
  3. It looks like this car will be running this year. Maybe one of our Ontario members knows the drivers and can put you in contact with them before/after the race. I have watched the race a couple of times on TV and it looks like it would be a blast to do. http://www.targanewfoundland.com/drivers/cars/2009/501/
  4. Carl: I have looking over the car and it is a number matching car, the build date is 7/70 and the motor number is 9673. It was last registered as a 1970 in 1997. It has no air pump, has a single pulley and no vapor tank. As far as I can tell the carbs are original. They are a four screw set with no drains on the float bowls. As well, it seems to have a Type A 5 speed. Once I have the motor out and can count the gear ratios I will know more about what type of tranny it is. Dan
  5. Ron it came with the Tabco rear quarter and rocker, I just need a outer wheel housing. I agree, for how bad the drivers rear is the rest is very good, I think in part it is because the previous patch was not done right and let the rust continue. The other side has a patch as well, but much smaller. Here is a photo of the car itself. Dan
  6. No it is not loose, looks like one of the PO's moved it there and put a padded arm rest on. I have a series 1 console in good shape that I can use.
  7. nice repair dogleg panels ashtray has never been used nice "realistic antenna" not stock but period correct replacement check out the speaker
  8. The rugs are faded but hardly any wear. Are these seatbelt buckles original?
  9. Here are a bunch of photos, I am very happy with the car. Ron: the one photo shows why I could you sell the spare tire tub I had. Notice the wire holder on the motor mount, grease cup on steering rack, early alt, very clean frame rail Dan
  10. Geezer: I have a very nice tub already media blasted. I will get some photos tonight when I get home rtaylor, thats a awsome looking spare. Dan
  11. careful, mid feb might be in Hamilton
  12. Jonneyrock: thanks for the vote of confidence. I am one of those that has in the past let my passion cloud my judgment when buying a Z. I have boxes full of parts from a couple of cars I have bought that I convinced myself would only take a little work to fix and they have ended up being crushed. It would be more correct to say I have owned multiple Z's. I had a hard look at this one and thought it over for a while before I bought it. I am almost done a turnaround at work and am planning on picking it up on Friday. I promise lots of photos when it is home. Bigoak: you are correct, it only takes one winter for a windshield to look like its been through a sandblaster. Man I'm going to miss your bro as a flame, really enjoyed his style on and off the ice. Dan
  13. So, I kept up a conversation with the seller of the car and went to look at it. Here is a photo of what we in Alberta call a little rust. The rest of the car is in unbelievable condition. The rails/ front looks like it is just out of the show room. There was so much that was good about the car it greatly out weighed the "little rust", so I bought it. :stupid:I can not get it until after the weekend and will post photos once it is home.
  14. You could get one of these shipped into Canada and I could deliver it to you. http://www.terra2imports.ca/nissan/skyline/
  15. i got the same e-mail, I hope he keeps it to restore. Possible the amount of interest in it caused him to rethink the asking price.
  16. OK, none of you are helping. I needed everyone to tell me not to buy it. With one stripped down in the garage, a parts car in the back. 4 motors and boxes of parts filling up the basement I am sure what I really need is drag home another car. Having said that I asked the seller for more photos and hope to have a look at it soon. Dan
  17. There is a 1970 with a VIN of 06513 for sale nearby. Can anyone tell me if the carb set up is stock for this early of a car. As you can see by the photo there is no smog parts on it. It looks like a euro style balance tube. Was this standard for an early car in Canada? The owner says it has "very little rust" and wants $1250 for it. Dan
  18. Lephosto: Remember to remove the fuse and read the amps across the two fuse holders, if you leave the fuse in there will be no amp reading, as well it looks like the third and fifth fuses on the right side are blowen, if you get a 12V reading across a fuse it is bad. Dan
  19. Stephen: check this one, at today rate is is just over 22,000 US and around 73000 miles( no idea if this is a good deal just the only one that I have seen around here). Looks like it is a US car so no problem bringing it back home Dan http://reddeer.kijiji.ca/f-gto-ls2-Classifieds-W0QQKeywordZgtoQ20ls2
  20. Mike: The tanks look great, I just finished media blasting the outside of my tank today and planned on POR for the outside. The inside looks new with no rust anywhere and I was going to leave it as is but after seeing what a great job the tank sealer does I think I will do the same. Dan
  21. Yes it is, I always wondered why there were markings that can only be seen if you look on a angle. I took a photo of my speedo. Sorry for the quality. The marks are at 50, 65, 100 and 130 mph with the very small numbers hidden fully under the bezel of 80,100,160 and 200 kph. Is the 260 different?
  22. Ron: OK I will start I have ordered a four sets of door panels from the local dealer here in Red Deer and they have all come from Calgary. I think there is a parts depot in Calgary, but I am not sure (when ever the parts person checks the computer he says that there are xx sets in Calgary and I assume that he means at the warehouse). I will ask this question next time I am at the parts counter. As Ron stated there is no PST in Alberta so the only tax is the 5% GST. I am unable to get a club discount here. Price per set was $397 including GST.
  23. Nice work, when I had my speedo apart to clean it I noticed that it had a metric scale on the outside of the dial, which is hidden by the bezel when it is put back together. It only has makings at 80,100,140,180 (this is a guess as am going by memory). Dan
  24. I called the local dealer today and he shows none in stock in Canada and the list is $1767.00 cdn. He seemed to think because it still comes up as a valid part number that it could be special ordered from Japan. Dan
