  1. Hmmm, mine seem to have some green coating on them and I'm not sure it is zinc. Anyone else have this? Joe
  2. What are my options for cleaning up the metal brake lines and fuel lines so they don't look like crap? Really not looking to replace them and paint doesn't seem like it would be a wise move since the brake fluid would take it off pretty easily. What have you done? Joe
  3. No worries. I'd like to grab a set from you anyway if you have them available. I can always use them in the 240 Do you have a Paypal account or is there some other way you go about selling these? Joe
  4. Hey Derek, Great design! I'm going to test fit stock 240 panels ans see if I can get them to fit my 280 before purchasing. I know I'll have to relocate the fuse panel but that could only lead me to cleaning up the rats nest of wires I have down there anyway Have you done anything that would fit a 280? Joe

I'm going to change my diagnosis that I posted on Hybridz. I'm thinking this isn't a clutch or trans problem at all, but a brake issue! By any chance did you have the emergency brake pulled when you stored the car? My guess is the brakes are stuck. Put the car in neutral and jack up each wheel to see if they will spin by hand. If you jack up both rear wheels at the same time, each should be able to spin even if the trans/clutch is causing a problem. If one or both don't move, you have found your problem. Brakes. Joe
  8. Not sure if this has been posted, but has anyone seen the Mobil1 commercial where the green 240Z is passing the minivan? Does it belong to someone here? If I'm not mistaken, it's a series 1. Joe Guess I should have searched first. I see it has been spotted!
  9. Thanks guys. Next question, is it possible to dye tan door panels black? I have one good tan passenger door panel and I need a black one. Joe
  10. Like the title says, will door panels from a 75-76 fit on a 77-78 door? Thanks, Joe
  11. Just what I was looking for Bryan. Thanks a lot! Joe
  12. Can anyone tell me what markings are on the bolts that secure the pressure plate to the flywheel? I know they are hardened but I don't know what the marking are. Thanks. Joe
  13. Well I was looking for Nissan glass but now that my suspicions have been confirmed, it looks like I'll be using aftermarket. Anyone have an aftermarket supplier they can recommend? Thanks guys. Joe
  14. I am having a lot of trouble locating a windshield for a friends Black Pearl resto. No one seems to be able to locate one. Are they still available? Anyone have a lead on a good one? I'm in NJ so please take shipping into account. Thanks! Joe
  15. Pop off valve is mounted on the intake manifold after the throttle body. It's purpose is to avoid overboosting. A blow off valve is mounted between the throttle body and the turbo and is used to relieve pressure when the throttle plates are closed rapidly ( between shifts) so that the turbo will not loose velocity from boost not being able to go anywhere. Just make sure that the valve you are adjusting has the cam lobe pointed directly away from the cam rocker. Stick the appropriate feeler guage between the cam and the rocker and adjust the pivot accordingly. Joe

I know lots of people swap out the tranny on a series I! Most people just modify the leading edge of the shifter hole in the console because of the interference with the shifter when using a later style trans. The T5 shifter is in the same location as the Nissan trans but I'm using an aftermarket shifter from a Mustang and this shifter is much beefier so the little bit of console trimming will become too much. That's why I want to try a 72-73 shifter, the shifter hole is about 2.5 inches forward. Joe
  18. I'm sorry, I got too involved with the rear because that was a harder one to swap. Yes, the shock mounting holes are too close together. I mounted the brackets on the bumper loosely first, then put the bumper with the brackets attached on the car. I then marked where the bolt holes should go and drilled holes in the correct place. It really isn't a hard swap once you get the old shock absorbers off. Joe

  20. I've done this swap to my early 260. What I did was to use a 240 bumper with 70-72 mounting brackets. I removed the shock absorbers for the 260 bumper and just mounted the 240 brackets where the shock absorbers used to be. The back was a little trickier. I used the center section of the 260 bumper with ends of a 240 bumper. I collapsed the shock absorbers for the rear bumper by removing the screw in the middle of the mounting flange and hitting them in with a sledge hammer. If they come back out, I had to drill a small hole in the side of the shock and put a sheet metal screw in the hole with the shock compressed to keep it from coming out again. The reason I used the 260 center section is the mounts for the 240 center section don't line up with anything on the 260. I hope you can understand what I did here. If you have any questions please ask me. Joe

Has anyone used a series II 240Z console in a Series I? I'm looking for the forward location of the shifter hole as I am using a T5 from an 83 turbo ZX in my 71 240. If it will fit, what was done with the fuse block? Does anyone have a junk console I could tr to see if it would fit? I'm in NJ. Thanks. Joe
  22. James, I'm doing the same swap right now only I'm using an 83 ZXT. The only things that are not a bolt in are 1) wiring the ECM, 2) custom drive shaft, 3) console will not fit correctly if you are using a T5 trans, 4) trans mount will have to be modified if you use a T5 trans, and 5) a spacer is needed to make the short later fulcrum work on the 71's throttle linkage mount. Do you have any specific questions? Joe
