Skip, If you go to www.zspecialties.com bottom right click on the altenator and all the info is there. It was simple ,unplug voltage regulator tape off conection. I had to add a little wire to let it reach one of the connections. Remove alternator, replace with new alternator from ZSpeciaties and new belt, connect wires adjust belt done.. 30 minutes top Skip with my research I found this to be the best rout for me to go, at idle mine puts out 50+ amps. Give these guys a call 800-518-5480 I will say its a little pricie at 229.95 but it does work. Hope this helps. Mike

Well just returned from the ZDAYZ in Fontana and I must say what a great time we had. My good friend David his wife and mine loaded up and left last thursday. They drove in the new GTR and we in the 74 260. We left Murrells Inlet, S.C. thursday morning. With hit and miss showers thursday and friday we still had a great time the roads were clean and fun. Saturday it all cleared up and it seems a great time was had by all. The Dragon was packed with cars and bikes. With approximately 470 people it was well attended. Mostly a 350z event there still was a good showing of cars. We traveled a little over 1,170 miles in the four days we were on the road without one problem the 260 with her new 5 speed (82) and R200 rearend drove flawlessly. And the best thing for me was that in the car show we took BEST IN SHOW, go figure a 1974 260z winning 1st place out of 97 cars in the show. I was very shocked and pleased . Mike
  6. I'm running a Holly and have had good service, but I believe the carter pump is better. Mike
  7. Arne, I'm not sure if your asking me or GILLIW, but i am using the Mallory electronic and i believe the 260 came with electronic. Mike
  8. glliw, I'm running an electric fuel pump, remember that su's only need around 3 lbs of pressure. You may have to add a fuel regulator on the return line. Also are you running any type of performance cam in your car? If so you might need to have your idle turned up, mine idels at around 1300. I know that sounds high but thats where mine likes to be. With the adding of the horns from the air cleaner and playing with the idle I have the car running very well. Good luck, Mike
  9. I run at 3 lbs of preasure at 6.5 your a little high. Put a fuel regulator on and dial it down. I have mine on the return line. Mike

Adam, I have 16X7 +6 offset Panasports with Eibach lowering springs with Tokico struts, no problems. 74 260 Mike http://s183.photobucket.com/albums/x304/clayton260Z/?action=view&current=zcar011.jpg
  12. gillw, I to have a 260 with three screw su's (Z Therapy) with a European balance tube and had the same problems. What air filter system are you using? I had seperate K&N's and changed back to the factory set up with a cold air duct to a filter in the front grill area, this for some reason help alot. I am no expert but i believe it has something to with the amount of vacuum, but I am not sure. I do not have to choke, pump the pedal like before and the throttle response is much better. I had tried everything to resolve this, pluges, wires, adjustments to the carbs, fuel filters but nothing really worked. I switched back to the original set up by accident because I wanted a new look and the pay off was a very big surprise. Again I am not an expert but this helped my problems. Others way in with what you think. Mike

Axmiester, Mine came with the kit I bought. I bought them off Ebay but you can get them from any parts store. They also have them on Ebay, just make sure they are for 4 lug if thats what you have, or for 5 lug. I hope that helps. Mike You might check www.zcarparts.com (motorsport)

I also used the Maxima swap with the Toyota front brakes. I have had them in use for well over a year and have had no problems. 15. Zedyone, Torch removal works well, just heat until they burn, and they will fall out. Just do it in a well ventilated area. It does take alittle time. Do not remove the pressed in metal sleves. Mike

Mike260z, I also have a 74 260z early build date 9-73, the bumpers from a 240 are not a direct bolt on but can be done, depending on the year of the 240 I am not sure of the seat belts, SU's no problem and the air box with them. Suggestion, keep your N36 intake and get your SUs from Z Thearpy. All the things you need also can be found on ebay or through other members and sources depending how much you wish to spend. I restored my car over the past two years, if I can help let me know. Mike
