'71 240z e-brake cable
Greetings! I fairly recently purchased a '71 240z series 1. I am in need of a brake cable/ebrake. I checked underneath the car and the cable is snapped on the rear brakes. I am pretty sure the ebrake and brake cable for the rear brakes are the same cable correct? I am located in Southern Oregon. If anyone has this part I would be happy to purchase it as a reasonable price. Location is not really a factor. Regards, Brooks

Floor Boards - Please give me your opinions!
I will be purchasing a passengers side floorboard from Charlie Osborne as I have heard many great things about his product. The drivers side floorboard is surprisingly in very good shape. I removed the tar mat(fun 2 hr job! and to my surprise the floor is in good shape. I am planning on putting down POR-15. What is the best or preferred way to strip down the paint to get to the bare metal for POR-15? Orbital grider? Sand paper with elbow greese? Options please. After I used POR-15 is there anything else I should use on top of POR-15 or is it alright to leave it alone? Thank you!

Floor Boards - Please give me your opinions!
John, Yes in fact I did purchase the car in Hillsboro a few months back. It does have some rust issues that I didn't notice when I bought the car but most Z's this age do. It was really hard to find a Z that price that is in somewhat decent shape. I am definitely considering getting floor pans from Charlie Osborne. I am not a professional welder so that is my next step to find someone here in the Medford Oregon area. If anyone knows a welder in Oregon that is reasonable and does good work please let me know! Regards, Brooks

Floor Boards - Please give me your opinions!
Good evening. I just took a few photos of the floor boards in my '71 240z. Wanted to run it past you guys and see what you feel needs to be done. If it is patchable, a tearout, or anything you recommend. There is a decent size hole on the passengers side floor board, but looks like it is limited to that one area. I can tell you that the frame rail below is shot, but doesn't look like the whole floor board is. Also what do you think of the drivers side? There is surface rust, but not able to find any holes. Look over the photos and give me your thoughts, suggestions, advice etc etc. I am fairly new to this site and have found it a great resource. Thank you for your replies! Regards, Brooks

Just purchased my first Z! '71 240z
Hello everyone thank you for the welcome! I am already addicted to my Z and this site! What a wealth of info. I am slowly working on my Z little by little. Takes time, but as we all know it is fun working on them until you find rust! And yes mine does have some on the passenger side. I will more than likely need to purchase a floor panel from Charlie Osborne and have someone weld it in for me. Not sure what a reasonable price is to have it welded. I bought this Z from a fellow up in the Portland area so not off of Ebay. As most Z's are they do have issues. Currently, mine has two issues that need immediate attention I feel. The ebrake cable is broken near the left rear wheel and the hood cable is wearing down and doesn't go back into position after you pull it. If anyone has these parts or is experienced in fixing them I would love to hear from you! p.s. - Beandip I would really like to stay in touch with you and have already contacted Arne. Is there anyone else that you know of in Oregon? Best Regards, Brooks

Looking to buy a '71 240z
Ramses, I got a fairly "good" deal on mine as well. I found out after I purchased the Z that the passenger floor pan has a hole about the size of a baseball. More than likely will have to have the floor panel replaced along with the frame rail. I will more than likely buy a floorboard from Charlie Osborne as I have heard great things about his floors. Does anybody have a rough estimate of what a reasonable price is to have a floor board welded in from a professional along with a frame rail welded in as well. Looking for a reasonable price as right now I have no idea what that would cost. Trying to educate myself on this issue. By the way I do have a few issues on my Z that need immediate attention. The hood latch cable is frayed near the end and will allow you to pull it but it does not put the latch back in the correct position to secure the hood down. Has anyone fixed their cable and is it a tough fix or fairly easy one? Also my e-brake cable is broken at the left rear wheel. Is this a pretty complex fix or something anyone can really do? I am mechanical but by no means a full on mechanic like many of you are on this site. Regards, Brooks

Just purchased my first Z! '71 240z
Good evening everyone! Wow what a great site and resource! I have always loved the Z's and just recently purchased a '71 240z "Series 1". I must say I am already addicted:) Aren't we all! How can anyone resist such a classic sports car. The Z's have so much character, style, performance, & looks! No wonder why we are all crazy over these cars. Well a little bit about me. I grew up in Oregon and now currently live in Southern Oregon...Medford to be exact. About 20 miles from the California border for those not familiar with the area. Well while growing up in Oregon my father had a '71 240z when I was young and I always loved it. He sold it along time ago and I have always wanted one. A fews years ago my twin brother bought and restored a '78 280z and I love driving it! Sooo.....as you can imagine I had to get one for myself. I had been looking for a Z for quite some time and finally found a '71 240z. So now I am the proud owner of a Z! It definitely needs some TLC! I am currently working on that and it will be a work in progress as many of you know the feeling I am sure! As you can guess yes it does have RUST. That damn Rust! I found a small hole of rust in the floorboard on the passengers side and there is some that has affected the frame rail on the passengers side as well. If any of you have experienced this situation with rust in that area I would love to hear what you did and how you corrected the issue. Your thoughts and advice are greatly appreciated! Very happy to belong to a community that is in love with the Z! Regards, Brooks
