If you can't get a decent 240 get a 260 coupe they are quiter a bit nicer in the ride due to the increased weight and cheaper to buy.

2+2 vs 2 Seaters
Wow Big Mac that is one wicked 2+2 I think all 2 seater lovers would agree that looks great. What is the colour off? Do you have any specs on the car.
-
anyone done this before?
Yes that is commonly done here but for NA engines. The theory here is to gain increased compression and litre capicity I don't know if this will work for a turbo engine. I can put you in contact with someone who will know though if you want see ya.

RPM lives his own live
Hi there jeff, should it ever be below 6000rpm probably not but mine can't even reach that it gets to about 4500rpm and moves about 100rpm for every 500rpm the engine is actually doing. Don't know why haven't figured it out yet.

Money.......(the bell tolls)
First thing never go to the same panel beater $3000 for a paint job with rust holes in different spotsROFL Never redo a 2+2 no one wants them in Australia. I have however robbed ever good part of my 2+2 to go in my 240Z. The interior put nice seats in, white faced gauges and if its possible put multi colour dash lights in, blue green red extra, wheels 3 piece if I can afford it.

Turbo 240Z
Had a friend try it once using a 2" SU of a Jaguar V12. Had nothing but trouble with turbo lag this was around 8 years ago though. In the end he scrapped it, we didn't use pop off valves at the time that may of helped.

Getting more out of my Z
Personally if u want to save money keep the twin Su's they are a beautiful carby that if tuned well will run a smooth as a kitten. They are good for fueling your engine up to around 220BHP but then they just can't deliver enough thats where triple webbers come in. Putting an L28 in will give you increased torque over the L24 but the L24 loves to Rev more. Other then that you will have to start modifiying your engine.

Heres a topic, engine swaps, Discuss!
Couldn't agree more Cuong, I'd love to have your engine in my enginebay, care for a swap? But really the L28 has to be stroked and bored out to 3100cc. Head shaved incredibly to raise standard compression from 8.65:1 to around 12:1, Triple Side Draft 44 or 48mm Webbers big cam some cases diesel crank out of L28 Diesel Patrol and all the rest of the gear. Last price check it was around $10K to drive in Standard and drive out with 360-380BHP. Thats alot of money a tough decission.

Uni body rusted, saved my z from junkyard
Loved reading your story at the traffic light with the BMW. However safety is a first even if your the only one in the car you may cause an accident to someone else. Please I would have it repaired properly, as St. Stephen and Cuong said structural strength is a no compromise. Keep up with the storys. See ya.

Which model Z car do you like. If you want a classic Zed you can't go past the 240Z. It started the ball rolling and many would say still the best. It's power to weight ratio is superior to all the other models, but maybe you have the budget to support a Twin Turbo 90 model 300ZX. Luxury comfort performance and looks. In Australia you will pay a minimum of $20,000 for a Twin Turbo 300ZX, where the same money would buy you a mint 240Z. Problems well typically rust haunts the early Zeds. In the hatch area, chasis rails, front fenders, bottom of doors etc. Not sure of inherant problems on the 300ZX's you'll have to ask some of the other guys. Happy Hunting...............

Will a stock 240 get rubber in second?
Hey Seanh how ya doing, I'll have the same car and components in mine when it is finished. I have the drive train ready to go in but the body will be 6months before it is finished. Keep in touch I'll be interested to hear how yours goes. See Ya.......

i have a question i need answered
Which car do you prefer they are like cheese and chalk. Sure the 280 can beat the 300ZX but with Standard SU's shaved head raised compression a mild cam balanced extra you will get around 230BHP. This will pull it up due to lack of fuel. This will still let it win though. Good luck....

Rear tire size options?
I had 215/65/14 on my 14x6 rims and they had too much tire wall movement. I do believe the 195/70/14 in a Yokohama is best but a 205 may work, haven't tried it yet.
-
backspacing....
You mean 225/50/16 or 205/50/16 don't you? Anyway from all experience here in Australia the only company's that make wheels for Z's are made as a 3 piece rim. They ususally start at $500 a wheel for the cheapest. Does your car have modified suspension? If so, you will have to keep your tire width narrower so that the tyre wall doesn't rub on the spring. I have 86 mdl 300ZX chisel slot wheels on my 240 with adj Koni's and heavy duty springs. With the 15x6 wheels on they had 215/60/15 on originaly and they rubbed on the springs, I had to put a 9mm alloy spacer plate in just to space them far enough away from the springs. With a 205/65/15 I could use a 6mm plate and tommorrow I'm trying a 195/70/15 which will fingers crossed get rid of the spacer plate. Get your wheel company to check your clearance I guess is what I suggest because they can modify off set, hub depth extra if they have your vehicle there to go off. Hope this helps........

Opinions
2many is right on the money, not only does style 1 look better but it has better air flow and on a high speed straight your brakes will desire all the cooling they can get.

Yep 3M definetly is the best may cost the most but works. IPO huh I love it my previous owner of the 2+2 definetly was.

Will a stock 240 get rubber in second?
Sell my car I don't think so, there are quite a few cars with their drivers that need humbling. Each to their own if you like it do it. Good luck and happy chirping. Tweet Tweet...................
