  1. The L series engines are dinamite. L24,L26,L28. The L28 here in Australia with quite extensive work is punching out between 330-380BHP a couple of people are quoting to have cracked 400BHP. That is bloody awesome comparing the weight of the vehicle and the standard 150BHP of a well tuned L24. These cars over here are racing turbo charged Porsches and beating them consistently. What more do you want...............other than an R34 GTR nothing............Go Zed.

Yes I have one but it was in there already, I believe it is the original 5Spd shifter just modified, I will try and find out.....

Depends on tire width and road surface, they will chirp in second but why? You aren't going to abuse it are you. Drive in style....... Make everyone envious but respect it. If you want torque, the cheapest way is to put an L28 in it. Although fanatical orginalist will hate me saying that. Go Zed.............

Right on Ed, apart from double sided tape, the other alternative is a poly urethane not like the one used for your windscreen that stays soft but one used for sealing panels it will stay rubbery but will set and keep the sucker on for good.

The problem with the 6" speaker is the depth of them and the magnet. I put 5" splits in my front doors and my knees still hit the speaker grilles. I did have however 6" Apline 3 ways in my 2+2 to the left and right or the passengers in the back seats, just behind the front doors. They worked well there but that won't help you either. The hatch is the only other alternative...........

It's just not fair. America gets all the good deals . I paid $7000 Australian after bartering him down from $10,000 Australian. Its currently getting resprayed and restored at a cost of $6000, that's $13000 without any interior or mods yet. Hey Doco, who is Shannon's I'm looking for someone to insure the 240 because the RACV will only insure it for a maximum of $4300. Thanks........

I have replaced the standard sealed beams with the Hella H4's. To get the full effect though you have to have heavy duty wiring put in so that you can put a stronger globe Wattage. I run Tungsram 80/100W. With the added relays and circuit breaker that are a great improvement over standard.

In refereal to the brands of paint you said Omni and Dalton I haven't heard of them. I work for Dulux or PPG in Australia. Clear over base is what we refer to as 2 Pac paint. or 2 part paint. Base which is the colour and clear of course clear over the top of the base colour. Acrylic is on a colour which doesn't need clear over the top it can be applied but the solid colours don't need it. Now...........colours like greens and some blues have very poor coverage and may need half a dozen coats just to cover the primer. The way to save colour is to use the correct colour primer to match the paint colour. This way you will cover the primer in only one or 2 coats. Hope this helps See ya
  12. Definetly alternator. Happened to me too. Change the bushes, brushes and probably a rectifier and the alternator 'should' be as good as new. But check with your local auto elec he'll know. See ya...

You won't believe it but I just got exactly the same problem this morning on my 76 2+2 260. As soon as I know what it is I'll let you know. A friend told me to replace the Dist Cap first because the points have a very weak spark compared to the later model Zeds with Electronic Distributors. Hope it works but I'm not sure yet.

I've found in Australia only Simmons and ROH do a wheel for the Zed. Problem being the offset and the 4 stud pattern. Problem they are only in a 3 piece wheel. I priced them yesterday ROH $530 Australian a wheel. Beautiful wheel but dam expensive. This was for a 16 x 7 you can get a 15 x 7 for about $60 a wheel less. Simmons well get a loan...................
  16. Rust can only properly be cured one way and that is to have it cut out and replaced with METAL not bog or fibreglass. You retain strength and originality. To help it from coming back the best way is to spray fish oil or a similar anti rust product into every where possible. If u could I would suggest acid bathing your entire vehicle this will destroy all rust but you need a bare shell to do so. Your suggestion of sand blasting is probably the best option if your car is complete. However make sure every part of bare metal is etch primed first. Don't let someone spray body deadner onto bare metal. Body deadner is poreuss and will breath and let water back in under it and start the rusting process again. Etch Primer will seal all the metal, then Body Deaden it. Hope this helps See ya.

G'day erikgiles, My L28 with 240Z carbs in my 260Z 2+2 ran 0-100kph in 9.0. I'm transplanting this gear now into my 240Z and was wondering what improvement it would make in the lighter car. Will be interested to see how close to you I am when I have it finished. See ya.....

I'm constantly having trouble with my flashers. If one bulb out of the three indicators is not earthing properly, my indicator light on the dash will just stay on and not flash. I've found that due to corrosion the globes aren't sitting properly. The globe sockets need to be replaced on mine. Hope this helps!

Bravo 6, Couldn't agree with you more, I have all the components bar the wheels to make mine 240 back to original condition. As less are around yours just becomes worth more. The reason I don't buy a 280ZX is because there heavy and bloody awful looking. The 240Z is the best looking one for ME. I only intend on putting a Front Spoiler as far as body work is concerned and that is only because I can't stand the car wandering at speeds over 160KPH it just ain't safe. See ya Mate....
