I have a 280ZX master cylinder. You have to "carefully" bend & re-route the hard lines to the other side of the master cylinder. This gives a firmer pedal "feel" and slightly less pedal travel.

The master cylinder is attached to a larger 1973-1978 size master vac. This just provides a little bit more force than the smaller 1972-1970 master vac. It does require slotting the holes in the firewall.

I went with the non-vented, Toyota 4x4 front brakes. Pad size is almost the same as the stock 240 pads, but with dual cylinder calipers. They bolt up to the existing strut mounts, but you do need to cut back the backing plates to make room for the larger calipers and need different hoses.

My proportioning valve was failing and couldn't be rebuilt. As they are NLA, I went with an adjustable valve from MSA. Back brakes are stock and seem to work fine.

I don't know if it will stop any quicker, but it does have a firmer pedal, which I prefer.
