    Engine swap

Easiest, and probably cheapest alternative is to get a used, carburated L-series Z engine. Plenty of power and much easier to install than a non-Z engine. If you can find one that doesn't need to be rebuilt it will drop in with virtually no modification.
  2. I'll be the dissenting voice here. I have and like them. If you want to actually drive and "park" you Z anywhere, they do help reduce door dings along the super-sonic line, (the outermost point where car doors will hit). The vinyl strips are available in different colors than black. Mine for example, are silver.
  3. The Z is nice, but check-out the rest of thier inventory.
  4. New NatGeo series on street racing. Watched two programs tonite and both had 240Z's!

    Archer?

Yes! They sank a Fairlady! My wife thought I was over-reacting...
  6. Wa-aay back in the day when I was in college, I had a baby-s**t yellow Pinto 2000 automatic. I improved the suspension and had 70 series tires that were slightly smaller diameter. At the local autocross, I consistently beat the guys with BMW 2002's, in which REALLY pissed them off. I was surprised that my lowley Pinto kept up with many of the sports cars. The guy who always won drove a "prepared" Opel Manta with an Offy racing engine.
  7. Very nice! As an amature with vinyl, I know 1st hand how hard the rear strut towers are hard to do well
  8. good thing 240Z's are smog exempt, since it's a smoker...

    Bolts!

yep. Using "grade" was a brain-slip... I still "think" in inches//lbs. and have take a moment to convert to millimeters/kilograms...
  10. I basically copied interior I did years ago in my previous Z. Seats are custom. Vinyl side panels with upholstery cloth center inserts. The center fabric is a dark grey/light tweed. I "think" name of the fabric was "Opal". I can look it up in my records if you like. Carpet is a charcoal loop I got from from Home Depot. Used old carpet as patterns and finished with sewn vinyl edging.

    Bolts!

Good advice on checking the grade of bolt. Important for suspension & brakes!
  12. For the chrome strip, try a hobby store for Monokote adhesive trim in chrome silver. Pic isn't exactl what you want, but might help. Bottom-line, the chrome strips line-up if everything is properly assembled.

    Bolts!

Or just order / buy a slightly longer, (45 mm) bolt and cut it down. There are numerous fastener companies out there. Also, McMaster Carr can often source bolts not in thier catalogue. You just have to ask.
  14. Where are the cars? If close enough, I'd be happy to look at it with you.
  15. they fit with my 14" Shelby slotted mags before I got my Panasports.
  16. Where in Calif are you located? If in the Bay Area, there are several mof us who can help you check out a car. There are others in SOCAL that may be willing to do the same if they are not too far away.
  17. Yep. they are black. One is in good, usable condition, the other not so good. I'd be happy to let you have them for a good price, but if your red/orange panels are in good shape, it would be easier/cheaper to dye the ones you have.
  18. Great movie! Saw it on TV last year and remember watching that "back in the day". The pump in the spokes was a really dirty trick...
  19. Nice work and nice that she's been in your family this whole time. I'm sure she will be a great car!
