  1. Ditto. Beware. These cars are addictive...
  2. Took these today and thought I'd share them. I plan to use the rear quarter view as my new desktop at work.
  3. Installed my rear hatch window yesterday. (see pic). Picture also shows color of tail light panels painted with Duplicolor "graphite" wheel paint. I'm using window rubber seal from "Precision". The actual installation into the car using the "cord" method was relatively easy. However, inserting the metal into the rubber was not as easy as I remember... It took over an hour to get the metal trim installed into the rubber on the glass. I plan to install the windshield next weekend when my buddy is available again to help. I installed the metal trim into the rubber on the windshield this morning. Making progress!
  4. Here's a pic of my MSA spook w/ brake ducts. Fit is very good on my 72' 240.

Here's a few pics of my carpets, (and newly installed rear vinyl).

    Carpet

Nope. But I made my own carpets using the old ones as patterns and had the edges bound for less $. It's not "stock", but it does look pretty good. Just an option to consider, especially if you don't want black carpet...
  7. Good Job! Probably a bit too loud for my taste, but very nice sound.
  8. Liifetime = happy wife. Happy wife = happy life...
  9. Since you are going the "remote" install route, why not mount the stereo under the seat. That way the glove box is still usable. That's what I did on my MGA roadster. Worked great. (with exception that there was no place to put decent speakers and all the wind noise).
  10. On my way home from work tonite about 5:15 PM I saw a brown 240Z on a flatbed trailer . It was going North on highway 101 near 3rd Ave in San Mateo. No vents in the hatch, so I'm assuming it was a 72 or 73. Paint was oxidized, (or just very dirty), and the exhaust was hanging loose and bouncing. However, from the back the body looked straight. With traffic, I only got a rear 3/4 view. Anybody on the board pick this one up?
  11. I just used a 6 point socket on a breaker bar and a 3 lb. dead blow hammer. Engine compression was enough resistance on the flywheel with the impact. All bolts came out fine without and scarring of the heads.
  12. Rodger, Welcome! Also, I'm jealous of the facilities and equipment you have available! Post photos.
  13. I used Duplicolor "graphite" on my finisher plates. It's a semi-gloss paint so it's not too shiney but still easy to clean. Black or gray on the finishers both look good. Really just a matter of personal preference.
  14. Welcome! Very nice looking car.
  15. I'll second the great pics comment! Looking forward to seeing more as the project progresses.
  16. I have had the same experience as Arne in my inquiries regarding reproducing the "old school" style banner. So far, no joy.
  17. Sweet! I've always wanted a 246 Dino. Won't happen in this lifetime...
  18. From what I understand, they are unobtainium... Thinking of trying to make one.
  19. Nothing special. 1997 Lexus ES 300 1996 Lexus SC 300 This summer: 1972 240Z !
  20. No stripes. While I like the stripes on white, on the dark paint with the JDM headlight covers, the car looks far "sleeker" without them. Just my 2 cents...
  21. I've pretty much given-up on using the MSA interior vinyl kit. 1) The headliner has bubbles between the pad and vinyl cover. Can't be fixed. 2) Most of the sewn parts don't fit properly. The strut tower covers don't fit and are too small...! 3) The vertical panel cover behind the seats has a 3/8" gap around the transmission tunnel exit. 4) The transmission tunnel had to be dis-assembled, (the rear 6"), to make it fit. My car's body is original, never been hit and unmolested. I know there is variation chassis-to-chassis, but the problems with the kit far exceed what should be expected. I bought some "diamond" pattern vinyl and am using that to make my own vinyl parts. I'm having a local upholstery shop sew & install the rear shock tower vinyl. Anybody else have the same experience with the MSA kit?
  22. I echo the above posts. Value is dependant on a number of factors. Several years ago, collectible cars were worth about 30% more than in today's economy... Condition is a key factor, as is rarity and location. From my perspective, it's what you are willing to spend or need to get from your vehicle. I'll have about $24 K in mine when finished. Of course, I paid a premium for mine during an "up" market. Still, smarter shopping on my part might have saved me $5 K. I'm not planning to sell mine, so it really doesn't matter... Just my 2 cents...
  23. Very Nice! And for 25% of the going rate for a higher-end paint job... I think you got a great deal!
