They begin to break down after 5 years or so. Still much cheaper than replacing paper air filters.

123 degrees yes, but it's a "dry" heat... .Wa-ay too hot for me. I grew up in the east bay, (Antioch, CA), where summer temps are consistently between 90 and the low 100's F. But for the last 20 years I've lived just south of San Francisco where it's much cooler. Now I'm happy at 68 degrees Fand melt at anything over 80 degrees.

Beams may drop down at high speed, as I assume the front lip spoiler will flex a little under load. Not a problem for me since I don't drive fast at night... Of course, it would be easy to install some support brackets from the frame rail to prevent this from happening.

    Here's how I mounted mine...

I also have the K&N in both my Z and daily driver, (an old 97" ES300). Great product, wouldn't go back to paper. Does require you actually clean and re-oil it occasionally. Be aware they are not a "forever" replacement and do have a "lifetime". I've found them to be good for about 5 to 7 years max.

If I remember my high-school physics, at the speed of light, for the photons, time has slowed to a halt. Therefore, they can't propagate out of the headlight. Of course, for the driver, because of relativity, time should be passing normally, but to his perception, for relatively static, non-moving or slower objects in the universe, time is passing very rapidly. Of course, we must remember that gravity has an effect as well. IIRC, the lower the gravity, the faster time passes. I'd move to Death Valley to get a higher gravitational constant, but it wouldn't help, because I'd still percieve time as passing normally...

Saw that car at Les's shop about a year ago. Very cool car!

The rear strut covers in the MSA kit are pre-sewn, one-piece, and after several failed attempts at installation, had a shop do it. I'm very impressed that you were able to get them to fit well. Kudos!
  9. My 72's original dash is crack-free, but it's only a matter of time. They all crack eventually... Dark garage & dash cover help. I've heard that a light coating of mineral, (unscented baby), oil is good for the vinyl.
  10. No can do. I'll be with my buddy on the 18th when he goes for a ride in a WW II P-51 Mustang. I''ll post a pic afterwards.
  11. very nice!

I just ordered the tublular 1 piece outer seal from vintage rubber. They are currently out-of-stock and they plan to make a few more sets to fill my order. I'll let you know how it seals.
  13. When I opened-up the valve on my 1972, it was stuck, but not fully frozen. Cleaned it up and it really made a difference in how the brakes felt.
  14. Thanks! And my niece IS really cute. Sorry single guys, no pics, she's taken...
  15. I do plan to display my car at a local "Cars in the Park" this July. Will provide more info later...
  16. How about my "terminally cute" niece's graduation. Is that a good enough excuse for not making it? Otherwise, I would have finally made one of your gatherings.

What is the silver paint you used? Looks a bit darker than the stock color, but looks very nice!
  18. You can et a manual swaging tool at West Marine or similar boat places for about $50. I did all the lifelines on my sailboat with one.

I didn't use self-adhesive felt. Tried that on my first Z and found it didn't stick. I bought felt at the local fabric store and cut into 1/2" wide strips. I wiped the plastic with isopropyl to clean the surface and used black silicone adhesive to mount the felt. Works great! My original factory panels on my 1972 had thin, dk grey open celled foam along some edges of the panels.

I glued strips of felt, (cheap solution), to the contact points behind and between panels. No mre squeaks and creaks.
  21. If you have a hobby shop nearby, 1/32" music wire works fine as well.

Funny! And probably not to far from the truth...

Wheels are 15" Panasports. I painted them with Duplicolor Charcoal Grey ureathane, and overall, they look pretty good. I did end-up with a couple small runs, but the color hides them reasonably well...

    Very, Very Nice!
