  1. That's my next door neighbor. She's original owner of a green, 1972 (automatic) 240. Paint is gone and it has a few minor dents. Other than the cracked dash, the tan interior is almost perfect. Get's driven maybe four to five times per year. When I first saw it, I made a gentle inquiry about her selling it. The answer was "No... It has too much sentimental value" After seeing what I've doing with mine, she's indicated she might be interested in paying me to fix-up hers.
  2. Check the link in my post above. They stock the all the parts.
  3. OK, dumb question time... I'm sizing an A/C system for my 240Z. Niether of my previous Z's had A/C, so I'm working a little in the dark. Both Vintage Air and Hot Rod Air have several different size condensers available, but the smallest is 12" x 20". That covers about 70% of the radiator's functional area. Without any previous knowledge to fall back on, that seems too big. What size were the condensers on the original "dealer installed" systems? Thanks in advance for your input. Julio
  4. Great! Mine's still at least 4weeks away. Going to visit it at the body shop today..
  5. The only real reason to have him do a 2.4 is to keep the matching #'s. That's what I'm doing. I'm ging with a stroke and mild cam with minimal head work on an E88. Should be around 200 HP.
  6. FWIW, I plan to re-install my alluminum & vinyl dent strips. The car does not look as clean with them on, but it looks a lot better than a series of door dings in the paint. For those of us that live in crowded urban environments, we rarely have the opportunity to "pick" a safe parking spot, so for me, the protective strips are a requirement. There is a company that still sells the aluminum, vinyl & end parts. The vinyl is available in colors as well as black. Here's the link: http://www.customautotrim.com/products/moldings/rivet.htm.
  7. If it's the metal strip w/ rubber insert, it's typically riveted on. If you remove it there will be holes along the side of your car. To remove it, you have to drill-out the rivet heads. If it's the other type, just get some automotive adhesive trim remover. Be sure to test in an unobtrusive spot to make certain it does not damage the paint.
  8. Very Nice! I'm going with Eibach;s and 15" wheels. Hope mine sits that nice.
  9. Know what you mean. Last two weeks it's been really nice during the work week and windy / cold on the weekends. Keeping me from doing varnish work the boat while I wait for my rolling chassis to get back from the body shop. This weekend is supposed to be warm and sunny here though. Hang in there! Good weather's coming.
  10. Was tempted by that vendor as well, but was not sure... Got mine from MSA, figuring that if I didn't like the quality I could send it back. If you get it, let us know about the quality.

I think you're on the wrong forum...
  12. Other colors. For those of us not trying to be original / correct. I'm going with a grey/black/charcoal color. Will use indoor/outdoor loop carpet. Will have the edges bound, probably with vinyl tape. (Exactly what I had in my previous Z when I had access to a commercial sewing machine). I'd do it myself, but it would kill my sewing machine. Also, I like a rubber (attached) underpad, also available with indorr/outdoor carpeting.
  13. For me it was, (in order): 7 years old: 1960 red MGA (had one I restored for 17 years) 13 years old: 1953 silver Jag XK (no longer want one) 17 years old: Ferrari 246 Dino (will never be able to afford one) 20 years old, (college): silver 240Z (got my 1st 240Z when I was 23) 54 years old: I'm back in the game restoring my 3rd 240Z.
  14. From what I've been able to find on the web, it looks like there were 116,712 240Z's sold. (is this correct?) I'm wondering how many 240's have survived. (Running or restorable). Anyone have a reliable estimate? Just curious.
  15. Nice looking Z! Good luck with her. Much better interior than what I started with!
  16. Wow! That's one nice looking Z! Would like to see it in person. Unlikely as I'm out on the left coast...
  17. Have made it a regular thing to visit the car on Friday's at lunchtime. William of William's Auto Body, (furthest guy on the right in the 2nd pic below) is making progress. All trim holes have been filled and faired. Lead in roof joint seams has been removed, the seams welded and fairing is in-progress. Next week I'll find-out about the drivers side floorboard, hopefully only a little surface rust. Within the next two weeks William will make some paint panels to help me choose the stripe color. This week there are four S30's in the shop, a 510 and two ZX's. The engine is in-progress as well. Here's a link to his website: http://www.williamsautobody.net/ I also tried painting one of my new rims gunmetal last week. It came out OK, but not good enough. I need to work some more on my painting technique. That's me standing next to the car in the blue shirt.
  18. I'm just 30 miles north of San Jose in San Mateo, so I might not be of much help.... PM me if you want my contact info. Julio
  19. Bummer! Had that happen 2 years ago. Cost me almost $3K to get the problem fixed. Still better than a whole new roof at $15K !
  20. I have the pertronix in mine and it works great. Had the same system in my previous car, a 1960 MGA. Much better than points if you have a worn distributer shaft.
  21. Wow! After checking out the threads about removing the evap tank, it's high on my list of things to do. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19034&highlight=fuel+vent
  22. I'd say paint it. Ithink it would look great with the matching blue & stripes. Of course, that's just my opinion...
