  1. I should note that I currently have 14 inch wheels and will be looking to upgrade to 16 inchers, so I don't quite know what all is available for 15 inch rims.
  2. I've been researching this question for a few months now, because I'm planning on upgrading my rim size when my current tires are worn out. The Pole Positions are definitely the all-around best that I've found.

I think every auto company has used SE at some point. Ford and Nissan historically and currently use it.
  4. My first hypothetical quote rolled off the tongue much easier, no?
  5. Okay okay. Sometimes the degree to which you all (there are about 4 people on the boards in particular of whom I speak) tear apart some members verbiage, really pisses me off. I apologize that my statement was too vague and and could be taken the wrong way. Let me therefore correct said statement: "I own the first 240Z (HLS30-00016) ever sold to a private owner. This is not to say earlier 240Z's (HLS30-00006, 00007, and 00008) are not now in private ownership and no implication of said fact is implied. Rather, I mean to communicate that my particular 240Z was furnished to a private owner at an earlier time than any of the aformentioned 240Z's*" * - "Please note, this statement only applies to US market and North American 240Z's. Japanese Domesic market Fairlady Z's, Z432's, and any and all 240Z's having been sold outside of the United States and Canada do not qualify. Please contact my lawyer with any and all grievences." Everyone happy? Now I'm taking my ball, and I'm gonna go play and none of you are invited...
  6. Point V is describing the "Venturi Effect" where a low pressure zone is found after some kind of air restriction and eddies are created.
  7. If #16 is truly the first car sold to the public (the others being mules and crash test vehicles), I'd much prefer it. I see the significance of Wick's car, but I don't think you can beat saying "I have the first Z ever sold."
  8. Amazing job! I particularly like the color ;-)
  9. Well what you heard is true. The salt water causes "salty air" (you can feel it kind of stick to you whenever you're @ the beach.) This salty air is corrosive to the steel that every Z is predominantly made of. North easterners have a similar problem because salt is used on the snowy and icy roads out there.
  10. I don't know anything about the shipment you speak of. But I do know that today, if cars are damaged en route, they are usually scrapped rather than sold. This was the case with a shipment of 4,703 Mazda's when their container ship, Cougar Ace very nearly capsized. Mazda contemplated parting them out, or selling them with a disclaimer and salvage titles. In the end, all were destroyed (even though only half were damaged). $117 down the drain because they didn't want to risk any lawsuits. That being said, law suits are a sign of the times, and I kind of doubt it would be such a worry in 1970.
  11. I'm happy to say that the girlfriend loves riding around in the Z because of all the attention it receives. This happened about a week ago and she's told it to half a dozen people since then, because she enjoys it so much. We were pulling out of the local Safeway, and just as I'm starting to turn left a guy pulls into the lot and yells out the window of his compact. GUY: What year is your Z? ME: She's a 1970. GUY: She's beautiful, a great car. ME: Thanks a lot. GUY: You work @ Home Depot, right? ME: Yeah I do. GUY: I've seen it there a few times, it's a great looking Z. ME: Thanks, I love it. And by this time he had two cars waiting to get into the lot, and I had a clear lane to turn into so we each went our own ways. My gf was so excited, saying " That was so cool! He knew your car, and remembered it. That was soo cool. I love riding in this thing!" I'm not only happy to be noticed regularly, but even happier that she likes the car so hopefully she'll be more forgiving as I put more money into it!

Looking @ that Nissan door tag made me cringe. Z's gained 1000lbs in less than 8 years!

Be aware that it's entirely common for the oil pressure gauge to read 0 at idle. Mine does, but I've had no problems with pressure whatsoever.
  15. Both of your questions can be answered by reading the OP title...!
  16. Vapor lock? I haven't encountered it personally, but Z's are notorious for it. Try searching the forums for it.

You're joking, right? Or should he weld on a hitch as well? A new fuel filter is only a few bucks @ NAPA. I just replaced mine.
  18. I just added a dozen or so pictures to the album. Most are actually of dimes, cuz it looked like the Z front was covered.
