One of the "nowwhat.com" (Farmers Insurance) shows an orange one. A buddy wants to show his "mint condition" new car to him, only when they return to the parking lot it's totally stripped and up on blocks. BTW, the car totally wasn't mint before the stripping.
  2. Mike, I don't think he meant that unregistered vehicles would be grouped with registered ones. He was just explaining the nature of and reason for the early registration cut-off. And mentioned that the unregistered ones are still eligible for the people's choice award.

My new plates say "20TIL3Z" I just hope they get here in time for Canby!
  4. While lead effectively raised the octane of gas, I think regular is fine. I run regular gas on my DD '70 and I've had no problems with it.
  5. Jim, My last final is on the 11th, so I'll be going home then to spend a few days with the parents (I'm from Vancouver, WA). Sounds like Dave will be driving down that morning, and he'd be passing through around 6:45AM.

Thanks guys, I forgot about this post, as I've been focusing on my radiator recently.
  7. Haha, thanks guys. I'll be sure to meet up on Sunday. Thanks for the instructions Dave. Although I did spend 17 of my years in the greater Portland area, so I have a pretty good idea of where we're goin And I'll already've been down there for a few days visiting the Fam, so I'll see ya at the rest stop!
  8. I'll be there. Not sure which day though. I missed the registration by a few days because I forgot all about it.

Would you mind posting a review of the headers in the "Product Reviews" section of the site, right below the classifieds? I'm trying to get people to contribute more to it.
  10. Looks more like purgatory to me...
  11. Esprit Turbo, nice... I've always loved Colin Chapman's way of thinking; if you want to make a better, quicker car, "add lightness." I think the first Z's were in line with his ideals.
  12. Julio, I've seen Dave's LED taillights in person, at night, and I can attest to their badass look. They're super bright and clean looking. Dave, Those markers are pretty cool, once again you've outdone yourself. Custom ABS enclosure and 1-3 row settings. I'd buy a pair for $150 if I had the spare cash. As it stands, I'm a broke student, and my 70's got a cooling issue that's sapping my money. Glad to see you're still coming up with cool $^!# tho.

Can anyone tell me where I can buy the trim piece the goes on the rear deck lip on series one cars. Z's-ondabrain mentioned he thought they were still available through someone. I've included a picture of what I'm talking about.
  14. Thanks guys, I'm planning on pulling the radiator and getting it boiled and flushed and then attaching the shroud and installing it in about 2 weeks. I'll let everyone know how it goes, and post pictures of the process. I'd really like to get the "Reviews" section of the website started, because it's a joke right now. I encourage everyone to take a few minutes and post a review of anything they've added to their Z.
  15. WOW! That's $100 more than my engine one was!
  16. Thanks guys this was just what I was looking for.
  17. So I've noticed a that my '70 runs pretty hot. My temp gauge goes up to 250 and it usually sits at about 210, which is 2/3rds of the needle travel. Now I live in a pretty temperate climate, so it hasn't been a big issue, but I know it will be at some point this summer. Twice this year I have had to pull over and shut her off too let her cool down because the needle quickly jumped to 250. Both times this happened when sitting in traffic. I've read that this is a fairly common problem, and while shopping MSA the other day, I noticed their radiator shroud. Their description says "Light Fiberglass reproduction of the heavy, factory-optional, metal shroud. Helps eliminate the overheating 'in traffic' problems common to the 240Z's." So I went ahead and bought it as well as their radiator overflow kit. Now I need help with the installation. Has anyone else put one of these on? Should I take out the radiator? What size screws are needed? Where should I mount the overflow tank?
  18. Dependable Auto Shippers or DAS (http://dasautoshippers.com) is one of if not the nations largest carrier. They'll transport pretty much anywhere, you can choose covered trailer or not, and their shipping fees are fair. They are eBayMotor's preferred auto shipping company. I looked into using them both when I sold my truck on eBay and when I very nearly bought a Florida car and while I didn't ever end up shipping a car, they were pleasant to deal with.

Received my NOS 1970 Engine FSM last week. $20 plus shipping, found on eBay. Cover is a little faded, but inside it looks like it was never opened! No finger smudges, no writing, just clean, clear, white pages. If anyone has the accompanying 1970 Body FSM that they're looking to sell, let me know.
  20. I'm not sure what you're getting at there, but I'm sure if you asked almost anyone on the street what Fuji Heavy Industries was, they wouldn't have any clue, let alone know it is Subaru's parent company.
  21. I think it's funny how far this topic has gone. The comments have been focusing on hiding behind the DATSUN name, not the NISSAN name btw. And with all respect Randy, yes you can "hide" who you are. While it never fooled the motoring press, I'm sure that the majority of the American public didn't know DATSUN was NISSAN owned name. And I'm positive they didn't know that DATSUN was the older brand (I'm paraphrasing you here, but I don't know if it's correct). I also don't know the reasons DATSUN was chosen to enter the market rather than NISSAN, but in my earlier post I mentioned that I have read it was done to prevent possibly damaging the NISSAN name. And as it pertains to the American public, this does in fact make a good deal of sense. A large portion of the public today doesn't understand VOLVO is a FORD name, or that until recently, JEEP and MERCEDES were sister brands (under the old DIAMLERCHRYSLER AG). That's not to say any of these companies are hiding this information, just that it's not necessarily general knowledge outside of the automotive and business sectors.
  22. Wow... I got in on this conversation late. I guess that's what happens when you open the page before work and don't get around to posting until 9 hours later when you're off. When I hit the reply button, moonpups comment was the most recent one. Now I see that everything I said had already been covered. Sorry guys.
  23. Although I disagree with Carl about how severe Datsun's name change "mistake" was, your comparison isn't valid moonpup. All of the examples you cited are of various companies creating companion brands to capture different portions of the car market. Whereas Nissan simply erased all traces of the Datsun brand and replaced it with Nissan. Initially Nissan was afraid of failure in the US market, so they entered the US market under the brand Datsun. This precaution was taken so in the event of a Datsun failure in the US, Nissan could re-enter it at a later date under the Nissan name and not have to worry about people immediately associating the name with failure.
  24. Much improved!

I know that you've found something already, but I thought I'd throw this out there. MSA sells Twice Pipes exhaust, which gives that classic stacked tip look. However it's not just the tips it's a whole system. Although it is cheaper than the PaceSetter you were discussing earlier. Check it out here 70-78 Twice Pipes Exhaust
