Carpet Kit and Speaker Panel
While I am not entirely familiar with the carpet kit from Z Specialties, I did order the carpet kit from MSA and it was excellent. I also installed the speaker panel on my 72 and it fit like a glove. perfect solution for not cutting holes in the interior and the sound was remarkably decent. Chris

Period correct wheels
I think if you were to stay period correct, the Ansen slots would be a good option and you can easily get 15" in this wheel with some good width. I think they are also really nice with the polished finish as well. As an FYI, I decided against the collector status when I lived there as I wanted to do what I wanted with the car and insurance was still only $400 or so for the 6 months I drove it. $59 for storage for the remainder of the year. Going this way I added the MP3 player, lowered suspension, etc. I'm sure you car will look awesome no matter which wheel you choose Dean. Chris

260 head options
Dean, If you want an honest opinion based on 30 years of race car building, go see Andy Pearson at Specialty Engineering in Delta. Anyone in BC will tell you he has probably forgotten more then most have learned when it comes to building Datsun engines. www.specialtyengineering.ca 4175 104th Street Delta, British Columbia V4K 3N3, Canada phone: (604)598-9232 Good luck with your choices and look forward to seeing more on your car. New guy from Vancouver
Just as an FYI, There is a shop in Delta called Specialty Engineering. Andy and Tracey have been modifying Datsuns forover 30 years and he would be the man to see. Honest, excellent work and great new facilities. Chris

New guy from Vancouver
Hi Dean, The car was sold to a fellow who took it back the the Northwest Territories. I think you did much better in the end as this 260Z looks fantastic. My newest Z is in better condition as well, no rot, low mileage but still needs a little tlc to make it right. I think you easily have one of the nicer Z cars in BC now. Enjoy Chris

New guy from Vancouver
Dean, Would you be the same fellow that came to look at my black 240Z in Pitt Meadows a couple of years ago? I remember the cobra for sure. That is one sweet 260Z..I looked at it when it was for sale and thought it was a great platform to play with. My black one is gone but I have a 1/74 260Z as well back here in Ontario now. Congrats on your purchase...make sure you attend the Datsun show in North Van around the 2nd week of September at Waterfront park. Chris

Dallas z owners with butterscotch interior?
I routinely buy from California, Oregon, etc as parts are getting harder to find here in the East. I used to be in Vancouver BC where it was easy to slide into Washington but these days, UPS is my friend. Graphx007, I'll get back to you tonight after work...I'll shoot you some pictures and you decide if this is worth your while. Cheers, Chris

My summer with the Z , awesome!!!
I sure do. I took my Z through those back roads all the time as they were always clear, quiet and great for some spirited driving. It really is great progress and I'm glad you finally have had some seat time to inspire you to keep going. I haven't touched my 260Z all summer and I think I just bought 2 510 2 doors today. I'm on the fence but I just can't resist these little beasts. I look forward to the next phase and the new colour on the old girl. Cheers, Chris

14x7 appliance wheels - need tires
Randy, They are the metal caps from Summit. I will be heading up north to where my car is this week end so I will give them a go and see if I can get them to fit. I'll measure the centre hole on the wheel just to make sure I didn't screw things up.

Pricey Z
That car belongs to Ed Burkhart and he and his brother are well known to have some really fine cars. Fanatical to a degree and always the highest quality of work and maintenance. I would easily take any one of their cars but the price holds me back. I'm not sure you will find one as clean as this one...at least in Canada.

14x7 appliance wheels - need tires
I'll give both ideas a try when I try them on for size this week end. I just received my roto lugs from Massey in the USA and let me tell you... Sheila was the absolute best person I have ever dealt with. I order the wrong thread pitch (1.5mm) by mistake as I was too excited to read first and she just took ownership of the problem , shipped me the new pieces and even gave me a break on the shipping. I'll get a refund from her when the others arrive back to her but what a GREAT experience overall. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Massey at this point for anything based on her service. Thanks Sheila. Now...back to those pesky center caps.

14x7 appliance wheels - need tires
Hi Casey, I'm going to try and massage them into place without breaking any tabs. They weren't that expensive but I hate spending money only to break stuff.

14x7 appliance wheels - need tires
I'm going to have to re-measure the center hole as I tried 3 of the 4 caps and they do not want to snap in. I'll be upset if they sent me the wrong ones...even more if I measured incorrectly. Ron, did yours just slide in or did you have to use some good pressure to snap them in? As for tires, I was looking at the 195/65/14 - Falken ZE-912's as they seem to be the only decent mid range tire available unless you want to spend big $$. I don't drive my Z much and in Canada we only get maybe 4 months worth of good weather.

14x7 appliance wheels - need tires
I have read almost every thread about tires and wheels but there isn't a clear answer to my question.. Is 195/60/14 too narrow to run on the 14x7 appliance mesh wheel? I've seen a bunch of responses that indicate it may be best to run 205 or 215's but my car has been lowered with a new suspension kit by 1.5 inches all around. It's a 1/74 260Z so I am unsure of rubbing issues. I have 195/70/14's on an old set of mesh wheels but I think they are only 6 inches wide. A second question is in regard to those appliance wheels...I picked up the Eagle center caps as suggested in another thread but they don't seem to want to fit. Do they need added pressure to snap in or should be relatively easy to "pop" in? I don't want to force them or break them. Thanks everyone... I enjoy reading the posts and learning as I go along. Chris

Looking for Appliance Wheel center caps
I followed this old thread and ordered the Eagle center caps but find they don't want to fit very easily on the wheels. Can you tell me if they need to be "coaxed" into place or should it be a relatively easy press and fit? I find mine seem to be a shade too large and rather than try and force them...or break them, I thought I would ask first. thanks Chris

Finally on the road !!!!!!!!!!
Well well....it's definitely a far sight from what I saw in the garage that day I dropped off the front spoiler. Nice job. I bet the boys are really excited and I know you probably can't wait for the final paint to dry. Hopefully you bring her to the show in North Van in September as I think I may be coming out for a visit that week end. Congrats. Chris
