  1. Those look like the covers for a g-nose application. My covers that were on my black Z actually came to a sharp point where it lined up with the hood.
  2. They look great...I will say that I had some decals from Norm at Zeddsaver in Vancouver for my black '72. The aircleaner decals were spot on so i wouldn't hesitate to buy anything else from him. It's also easier when you live in Canada to deal in Canada to reduce cost, shipping etc.
  3. How about a vendor hat can supply a lot of decals for your resto? Norm in Vancouver seems to have quite a bit of good stuff and he is fairly priced...he also has ID plates and a ot of other stuff. http://www.zeddsaver.com/decals.html
  4. So I was reading ads for cars as I always do and I saw this one... It's a 240Z for sale in Vancouver BC and I couldn't help but laugh after reading his unbelievable description. http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/nvn/cto/1501604666.html "The most amazing, unique and tastefully fully done 1972 Datsun 240Z you will find. Over $60,000 spent on restoration plus over 1,000 hours of labour. The car has a fresh race-ready Datsun 2.8liter stroker race engine. The car has not been dyno tested but it is faster than a Nissan Skyline Turbo. I estimate it may have 325 hp +. These cars (once referred to as "The Poor Man's Ferrari") could do 150mph with the stock engine running on just 5 cylinders, so with a 5spd instead of the original 4spd and double the horsepower, this car should be able to do 180 to 190mph. The restoration is very detailed and used only the highest quality original Datsun parts straight from Japan or parts sourced through race shops. The restoration kept the original "feel" and performance of the original car, with subtle yet tasteful body upgrades and high performance goodies. The car even has a fully built spare race engine complete with dual Weber carbs, Datsun hp pistons, high compression fully redone race head with all new valvetrain including mild cam and oversize, undercut stainless steel valves (the engine in the car now also has these goodies). The interior of the car is amazing. Custom upholstered original seats with the "Z" symbol woven into the headrests, all new panels and carpet and an absolutely wicked custom built race cage with roof and door bars. The car originates from Phoenix, Arizona and has close to 75,000 original miles. The car has less than 250 miles on it since the complete restoration. I have tons of photos so I will not write on and on about the car. The car can be purchased starting at $35,000 all the way up to $50,000 if you want the race-ready original spare engine with the original 4 spd, an R200 posi diff and a brand new race/ road suspension package with rear disc brake conversion and Tokico Illumina 5-way asjustable struts. The best way to get in touch is by email. If you really appreciate very high performance classic sports cars, you will love this beautifully reconstructed 1972 Datsun 240Z. Serious inquiries only - no "Test Pilots" please :)" I'm going to go out and disconnect a spark plug so I cna run 150mph on 5 cylinders now.....
  5. Very well done....mine was no where near that clean. I was going to try my intake this winter and wanted to know....how long did it take to get it smooth with the different grits of sandpaper? I've done wheels and I know it's a PITA so I'm thinking it's probably more tedious than labor intensive? Also...were you wet-sanding? thanks for the insight and congratulations again... Chris
  6. That setup looks amazing....My intake wasn't polished and now that I see yours, I wish it was.... have a look at mine and then you will see how awesome it will look under your hood. I had the cad plated fuel rail and polished valve cover as well for the bling factor. beautiful job.... Chris

Thanks Studioti... I really do regret selling that car but hopefull my current car will be every bit as nice if not better when I am done. The black car was #'s matching and had a tired engine where the new Z has a fully built L28 so I know it's going to be quicker and more fun to drive. Whatever you choose to paint your car...enjoy it. Everyone has a different opinion and that is what makes us unique.....it would be pretty boring if every Z looked the same. Chris

Sounds exciting....I will be doing body and paint on the grey one I just bought come spring. Hopefully you don't get the kind of winter we had last year as that was "freaky" the amount of snow we got. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress as it not only shows me that another nice car will be on the road but it also gives me inspiration to keep working on mine. Cheers Chris Chris(joker72z)

So when are we going to see the car on the road? I have been waiting patiently for yours and my old 2 door 510 as it will be done soon as well. Hope all is well on the west coast...my newest Z is wrapped up for winter and I am slowly picking up goodies to finish her once spring arrives. Cheers, Chris

That car came out of Oregon and apparently went for $5500.00...I called the day after he had sold it. The fellow who bought it, shipped it to Florida and immediately put it on ebay for $11000.00...It didn't sell after a couple of attempts and then it hasn't shown up since. Don't be greedy I say...but it was an awfully clean car just the same.

Well my first 240Z was a black one and I loved it...in fact so much that I am considering painting my newest Z black as well. I couldn't go anywhere without being stopped and people saying how much they loved the black on the Z. here is mine as I bought it and then when I sold it with a few tasteful mods.. Enjoy

See now I heard it a different way... Why does a bride wear white? Because the dishwasher has to match the fridge and stove. better yet... What did you do wrong when your wife came through the kitchen door yelling and screaming? You made her chain too long. Can you tell I'm not married any longer?
  13. I was just out in Kitchener this morning visiting with Laverne Burkhart. he has 3 of the nicest 240's I have seen in Ontario. I bought a nice clean center console, pair of tail lights and the rear plastic light panel from him so I can clean up my '72. Whitehead is on Rivalda Rd. just west of the 400 and north of Sheppard. The shop is almost at the very end of the road and on the left side. Good luck Chris
  14. Why not give Oliver a call at Z Specialties in Snohomish, WA? He apparently does restoration work and perhaps he knows of a good engine guy to refer you to. If you want a performance build and are willing to drive to Vancouver, go see Andy Pearson at Specialty Engineering as he has been building Z car's and race cars for 30 years.
  15. Dave, I just returned to Toronto after 4 years in Vancouver and I have never heard of this company. Perhaps they were swallowed up by another bigger co. like Canada Engines but I can't even find them on the net. Good luck with your engine and if you need any experienced Z car help, see Whitehead Performance in Toronto as they are a great bunch of guys who love Z cars. Cheers, Chris
  16. Just before I sold my black 240Z, I installed 15x7 Konig rewinds with Kumho KU31 195/50/15's. The car was lowered with the eibach springs and tokico blues and I never rubbed once while driving. The wheels were 0 offset and my tires weren't as stretched as what you ar eplanning but they were fantastic just the same. Here's mine after the lowering springs were installed.

I've heard Bad Dog is good and I have also purchased pans and supports from Charlie Osborne at Zedd Findings. Check him out and as I have heard a lot of people think highly of his products.
