How often do you drive your vintage Z?
1000-1500, try to make sure it gets started and run every 10-14 days. When it's cool out (all three months around here), it'll get driven to work 2-3 times a week.

Datsun racing, vintage footage?
Lots of great vintage Japanese footage, this one will get you in the ballpark.

Let's show vintage racing pictures. I'll start.
Vintage racing from Japan. No Zs but some nice Skyline action and the music can't be beat. Nice series on the 1973 1000KM race at Fuji.

SU's vs Weber DGV's
I had a pair of DGVs on a 260 and they were great for highway cruising and with a 5-speed you could probably squeeze out a few more mpg. You could tell when the extra barrels kicked in but it wasn't some kind of neck snapping experience. I am not a Weber tuner and I get the impression the DGVs were not a performance carb as much as they were a passenger car carb. I would say if there's anything to be gained it's in highway mileage when the DGVs are paired with a 5-speed.

What thickness of fatmat should I use
Thanks for the link, I appreciate it.

What thickness of fatmat should I use
Out of curiousity, if I use this stuff, 10 years from now am I going to have to worry about rust/moisture between it and whatever I've stuck it to?

Chasing Classic Cars 11/30/10
I'm pretty sure it is the Frisselle car, it was at the Mitty a couple of years ago.

What would be the most welcome change to your Z
The engine will need a rebuild in a few years but the body needs to be put on a rotisserie and gone over and finished off with a modern chemical paint job in the factory color.

Interesting Carb Substitution on a 73?
My first Z, a 260, had a set of those on it, Zenith/Stromberg's, something like that. SUs were easier to tune and ran better.

Hi I am new here
A belated welcome from Warner Bubba, it's great to see another early Z owner in the area.

The body shop has it now
I saw a Spec-V on a showroom floor in the UAE, twice the price of a stock GT-R, $125,000 must be the going rate?

The Z Car's Nemesis?
I thought of the TR6, the RX-7 and early models of the 911/914 as the car's initial nemesis'. I have alot of respect for the 911, the 914 and the RX-7, never was much of a fan of the British roadster scene but they did look like they were fun by no other virtue than being roadsters. Nissan seemed to take development of the Z in a very different direction with the ZX. I had hoped they would go down a more performance oriented road in the same manner as the 911 but I don't guess they felt their market calling them there. You can't argue with their sales numbers so we're left to wonder what if. If I could afford the "ownership experience" I would have an 80's era 911 Turbo, they're just dead sexy in my book. That being said when I first saw an S30 on Okinawa in '82, I was in love with the styling, everything else just came later.

'Big Sam' - Bonhams auction at 2010 Silverstone Classic.
There's a nice writeup on this car in the August issue of Octane Classic and Perfomance car magazine if your bookstore carries it, page 110.

What makes the z special to you?
I spent a summer in Okinawa in '82, there were a couple of the Marine officers who had bought Fairlady's and were taking them back to the states. They were the hot car to have even though the ZX was out and so was the RX-7. Lots of 4 door Skylines running around too, I ended up seeing two Skylines racing down the Expressway followed about a minute or so later by a Fairlady police car. When I graduated HS, I bought a 260, that was '86 and I've had one ever since.

Hard to start and weird to drive 240z
Sounds trivial but I wonder if the fuel filter needs to be replaced?

New From Ga!
If you need motvation go by Eddie Radatz's shop in Kennesaw, his number can be found using the search function, I'd be surprised if he didn't have some ignition parts laying around somewhere. You may be able to take your tank to a radiator repair shop, some of them also recondition gas tanks, Eddie would know.

GA - Good place to get alignment?
Or try John Williams in Sugar Hill, 770-806-2926

1971 fusible link at starter
I found the parts at NAPA, $7.

Speedfest at the Classic Motorsports Mitty 2010
I hope you guys get alot of pics, I'd go as I only live two hours away but I'm eight time zones away for awhile, it's a real bummer. I'd be willing to reimburse someone a reasonable amount to get some autographs.
