What makes Zs great
Thank God my wife knows talk of getting rid of the Z is verboten. I've mulled it over myself from time to time but just couldn't do it.

What attracted you to a datsun Z?
I got to spend a summer on Okinawa in '82 and the Z and the ZX were the hot cars to have. There were a ton of Skylines and Silvias and even a few Celicas but the Z was the hot car to have. When I was able to buy a car I knew I wanted a Z, didn't know the difference between 240-260 or 280 but it had to have that bodystyle.

Scratches in windshield, repair or replace?
My windshield has scratches on it from the windshield wipers that apparently were pretty useless except for leaving small yet noticable scratches. Is there any sort of chemical treatment or buffing that could remove them or would I be better off just eating a new windshield?

For Interest Only (Toyota 2000GT)
If you're ever able to make it to a Nostalgic Heroes car show you might see alot of them. I never really was a fan but I knew they were rare. I'm pretty sure there's one in an auto museum in the basement of the mall in Daiba park in Tokyo.

Those are awesome! You have to have a pretty decent sized knowledge base to recognize the pattern and appreciate it.

Crikey
I thought he was nuts the first time I saw him but my kids loved watching him and he helped their uderstanding of wild animals and the joy of experiencing them. He will be missed around the house when Animal Planet is on that's for sure.

Summer 2006
Europe in the summer, what an awesome backdrop. It's got to be a blast to have a Z in Europe in the summer.

Another newb
Amazing to find a Z in Fairbanks, I would have thought they had all rusted away after 5 winters! Sounds like the perfect car to campaign in the SCCA region up there.

What is the most valuable thing about this Club
They are all great reasons I check this site 3-4 times a day but I know if I post a question more than likely, I'll have 4-6 answers in 24 hours...then it's just a matter of fishing through the responses.

Off goes my baby...
Thanks for the details...I was thinking it would cost at least 6K and was curious what experience people had between different paint manufacturers. I can only think of two off the top of my head, PPG and DuPont and had heard paint and clearcoat can run up to 3K...you're estimate sounds really reasonable for the amount of labor that goes into prepping the body.

Off goes my baby...
To be nosy, since I can think of no other way to ask, were your floor pans replaced and what is the paint and body going to do...and how much did it cost? I'm planning on painting my car next summer if I get promoted and want some idea of what I can expect to pay for floor pans, frame rails, rocker panels and paint.
