What is Rice?
You can now attest that not all rice is cosmetic. Ricers make me as sick as anything but there are some little pricks out there that daddy gives a lot of money to stay out of the house and they put it under the hood of their Honda! My real disgust is ricer street racing and the hazard they pose...all magnified to me now with two kiddie rocket seats in my wife's car. They're harmless but annoying when hanging out in the grocery store parking lot. Is the Ferrari GTO kit for the S30 just an Italian "rice" kit? I never saw the appeal but hey, that's just me.

Engine prep for steam cleaning?
I may have access to a steam cleaner to clean out my engine compartment and, I suppose, the suspension and undercarriage of the car. If you've used one before, what do I need to do to prep the engine compartment and can I steam clean other areas of the car?

What is Rice?
Weren't Zs rice in their day? They were running around competing with muscle cars...and who hasn't seen the odd Z with the huge whale tail JCR used to offer, or holes cut in various places to support more/better speakers, or the Monza tip or Cherry Bomb exhaust? IMO, the "rice" of today is an evolution of the Z/510/Celica "rice" of 30 years ago...it's just that your average 1st gen Z owner is 20-30 years older than his teen counterpart of today.

New 1971 240Z Check it out
Congrats on your new ride. I'm still in a mild state of shock after seeing how clean the chassis and underside of the body looked.

U.S. National Anthem: what an Insult!!
Any American who's travelled abroad and visited places where free speech was supressed would know the words to the Pledge of Allegiance and the Star Spangled Banner by heart and would sing them with such a passion that no one could confuse it for bull$hit passing as "art". Free speech is a privilege, not an entitlement, knowing the difference between the two and how they impact daily life as an American will make a world of difference in how one views what it means to be an American. No dictatorship ever survived nor would it in a society that allowed a free press. The two mix like battery acid and a newborn.

U.S. National Anthem: what an Insult!!
Ever wonder how much time you spend watching TV news that talks about movie stars? Everytime CNN or FOX starts blabbing about this BS I have to remind myself that this is why the country is getting dumber and dumber. The shoddy treatment of the national anthem is a symptom of something worse I'm afraid.

my first 240z
I wish I had the job you must have at age 17 to be able to restore 2 early Zs. I the end, I think you'll really enjoy having a classic sports car. It's not modern or plush, but it is fun to drive.

Other cars you own, or drive?
I have an '05 Pathfinder and my wife drives a '98 Blazer. I own the Blazer, the bank owns the Pathy and I get to drive it.

My Skyline finally arrived......
Amazing, a real piece of history that a lot of love was put in to.

Maybe I'm too much of a purist, but...
I actually like fender mirrors on old Zs. A pair of those and some Wats and you'll get my attention. The fender flares only look great on lowered Zs with Wats or Konigs to me but hey, that's just me.

my Z literature factory and after market catalogs
You don't see any of those any more. Wish the aftermarket parts were as prolific now as they seem to have been in the 70s.

Nostalgic Hero 115
I picked up one of those Tomica Z patrol cars a couple of years ago. I'll have to find it and brush the dust off.

Going to Japan, need things to do.
There is a Nissan HQ building in Ginza that usually has a couple of cars on display. Most Westerners hang out in Roppongi at night, lots of night clubs etc. It's expensive to go out though, you'll be blown away just walking around Ginza, Akihabara, Ueno, Shinjuku or Shibuya, there's a lot to absorb. The Japanese equivalent of the Smithsonian museums is near the Ueno train station, there's a huge zoo there too. You could go to the main Tokyo station which isn't too far from the Imperial Palace garden where you can walk around. As for car places, you'd have to do some research. I know theres a place in Yokosuka or Yokohama that has a couple of Skylines sitting around but that's about it. If you go to the Nostalgic Heros website, I think their car show schedule is posted on there. you may get lucky and catch one, or the Spring Sagamiko Z car gathering west of Tokyo about an hour by train.

Wonderful photos from Japan
I went to the Nostalgic Heros show last year and it was amazing to see not only cars that old and rare but in immaculate condition. My regrets were not going to Sagamiko or Nismofest but there is time left.

Hello from Kansas :)
EBay, there are also local clubs in OKC and Tulsa, and I think there used to be one in St Louis too. Every now and then one will pop up in their classifieds section.

Boys and their toys, but that's a seriously nice track.

Warning dumb question ahead....
Same story I heard...can't remember if it was Nissan or Mr K but that's the one, Z is the end all to all.

Best way to spend $500
I've definitely thought over the Toyota brake upgrade, never thought about a better cam, and am on the opposite side of the country from Tracy California. The hits keep on coming.

Best way to spend $500
For the vehicle in the signature, what would you recommend for a $500 parts budget to increase the horsepower but stay with the SUs. I'm dreaming of Christmas and need some ideas. (I've already got a header and a 2-1/4 inch exhaust too.) I've thought about biting the bullet and going with a ZTherapy rebuild but that is on the upper end of what I'm willing to spend right now so I'm looking for some other ideas to mull over.
