HSR Mitty '06 to feature Japanese Sportscars
Holy Shiite Ron that's great news! I knew they would have a tough time turning down something this good, especially when it's in their new backyard.

I knew they also ran a Nissan March series for awhile but didn't know if that was still going on. I can't believe they won't campaign a 350Z in some kind of sports car racing series here in the states.

Touchdown Seattle
Seattle is long overdue and this one is in the books. I wonder if it's because they moved from the AFC to the NFC? I really miss the rivalries they used to have with the Raiders, Chargers and the Broncos.

I know they brought those guys to the states for a race but I didn't get the impression that the series was as successful as they had hoped it would be. I was hoping there was some kind of IMSA or SCCA effort.

I'll be on the lookout for you guys. I'll definitely be there on Saturday and maybe on Sunday. As for Nissan and NASCAR it seems following the route of Toyota is what they've demeaned themselves to. The Titan is a nice truck though and there is money to be made in that market. Does Nissan sponsor any appreciably sized 350Z sport car racing team other than in drift?

New member looking for a 240 Z
Isn't there a Z-car club in Norway? I know there used to be one. That might be the best place to start. If you couldn't find one there you might be able to find a RHD in England, or off of EBay. You may want to PM Phillip. He bought a 240 off of EBay and shipped it to Stockholm. Here is a thread telling about his experience. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17399

Hello I am brand new.
To my knowledge, you can access all of the rubber hoses from up top. They run to the fuel filter on the right hand side of the engine compartment and there are some around the carbs. Mine had rotted around the fuel filter. If you are serious take a fuel filter with you and swap them out just to helpget decent gas to the carbs. I bought the hose at a O"Reilly's and see no reason to get carried away unless I was building a race car but that's just me. The Koni's are 3 way adjustable. I think only the '73's had a rear sway bar so you may want to see if there is one on the car. It may have been put on aftermarket. I bought a bigger swaybar for both front and back but I'm no scholar as to the philosophy of what size to get for what application. Another website with a buyers guide is www.zhome.com so check that out for some great articles about what to look for, repairs and upgrades.

Hello I am brand new.
Don't know the metal to rubber ratio in the fuel lines but I would look at not only the fuel lines but the radiator hoses, the hoses that run to the heater core, and the vacuum hoses for the brake system. I had to repair my fuel lines and heater core hoses this past summer because they had dry rotted where the hoses connected to the metal. Never driven a Miata but Z's handle well when the suspension has been modified. Stock Z's ride is mushy and the nose wanders at speed but a set of Tokico's and Springs will do wonders. As for bumpers it's for weight and looks. After '73, the bumpers just got heavier so many folks pull them off. you should do a search for coil overs to see what pops up as I'm sure it's been done before. As for a mechanic do a search for "mechanic" on the forum archives. If nothing pops up, submit a thread looking for a mechanic near you. You'll probably get at least one response. Couldn't tell you about rpm at 70 or anything like that, I never paid that much attention and it's been awhile. There are two pics in my member gallery, not very good quality and the car was being stored. I would say it's very average for a 240, especially compared to some of the other cars you'll see in the member gallery section. Take your baby and hold it while it's asleep and surf the web. Worked great for me when my daughter was sleeping 23 hours a day, now she's all over the place all the time so not much surfing going on.

Hello I am brand new.
Welcome to one of the best sources of info for how to get your Z moving as well as money out of your wallet. There are some threads regarding starting a car that's been sitting for awhile, try out the search function and see if there's something in there useful for you. 77's and on had 5-speed. 4 speeds have a reputation of being ultra reliable for street and race applications, don't know what to say about the 5-speed's reliability except to say they are a popular upgrade for many reasons to include the one you mentioned. As for rust I would look at the floor pans, the frame rails underneath the car, the battery tray and underneath it, the rocker panels, and in the fender/wheel wells. If you see it bubbling, there's more underneath that merits closer inspection. I don't know what stock horsepower was in a 240 but it isn't 280. Built L-series engines range from 270 to a little over 300 but I'm pulling those numbers off of the Rebello website. It'll just be a matter of money as to how fast you want your Z to go. They're popular for V-8 transplants too if that's something you're more familiar with. Be prepared to spend money. I think most of us would agree that our Z is always a project in the works with just one or two more things waiting to be done/upgraded. Thankfully, parts are somewhat abundant if not locally then online and on EBay. Be prepared to answer to the boss with a newborn in the house and a money pit in the garage competing for time, attention and resources. My wife knew I would never sell the Z even if we had a newborn in the house but my ability to invest time in it has diminished somewhat. I cut a better deal though as poop duties are my wife's exclusively while going to work and watching the baby during dinner prep are mine.

I'll forward a copy of the pdf poster to their corporate email account asking them if they're considering flying in those vintage sports cars. To have the Z featured so prominently in the ad and knowing how many will turn out they'd look like real buffoons to not at least try to step up to the plate.

Red Line synthetic oil..anyone used it
I run Castrol in the engine, but want to switch to synthetic in a high mileage trannie and rear diff. Anything I should be concerned about (leaks after switching) or just drain, flush, refill and go?

Global warmin, Montana and a 240z
The Seahawks are long overdue and so is Seattle. The Sonics have been getting close but could never seal the deal and don't even start with the Mariners. Another great place to own a early gen Z car. You don't need air conditioning but maybe one month out of the year and a road trip to the Cascades or the Oregon coast is just a few hours away!

Bushings: poly or rubber??
I've seen antenna kits on EBay, and there are a variety of vendors online most of whom have links on this website. I'm partial to the urethane bushings but I'm willing to sacrifice the nice street ride. What kind of ride do you want? You may not know until you try it.

Locker versus LSD questions
Thanks for the info, I think an LSD is a better choice for what I want to do.

Locker versus LSD questions
Just re-read the R&T article on the BRE 240Z and it mentioned they used a Detroit locker instead of a LSD. Anybody else done this before? What are the pros and cons? Is a locker a cheaper alternative to an LSD?

Best Motoring Vol.56?? where is it?
http://drifting.com/ Maybe there, or a link from this website. The last copy of Super Street I picked up had a JDM Options DVD in it with clips from several of their DVD collections. There was some great stuff about racing on the Wangan, Smokey Nagata racing on public roads in Europe and New Zealand and the birth of drit in Japan that was inspired by an SCCN Skyline racer. There may still be a few of them on the newstand somewhere if you're interested.

Wangan Midnight manga series covers
Not yet but I'm planning on trying to collect them all. I haven't found a source in the States yet but I am going to hit Yahoo Japan and ask some friends in Tokyo to look for them for me. I just spent 2-1/2 years in Tokyo but didn't find out about WM until I got back here or I would have gotten them while I was there.

Time for a spin up the east side of Flathead or down the Bitteroot valley?
