Alternator bearing?...squeal from dead stop plus...
Car has about 180-200 miles on it after an engine swap, took it out tonight for a spin, at a stop light while accelerating I heard the belt start to squeal. I figured, "just need to tighten it" but it kept squealing and another noise which I assumed was the belt rubbing on something happened because I started to smell burnt rubber. This went on for about 20-30 seconds or so then stopped. Next light, squeal when launching plus what seems like potential grinding which dies out at about 15 mph, no squeal when accelerating at speed. Brought it home, won't squeal just revving in the driveway but it looks like the belt is slightly misalligned to the rear at the alternator. Alternator adjustment bracket has burnt rubber residue on it to boot. Is this the alternator bearing, it's a non-AC car, a belt that needs tightening, get a replacement belt?

Targa California April 23-25 For Classic Z Cars
I've thought about doing this in GA Patcon if you're a glutton for punishment. 90% of the work would be done by 10% of the people who paid and drove in it.

Time Required for Engine Work
It's a haul and I know Eddie has someone who does his headwork but I don't know who that is. John Williams used the Not on guys and I know he sent them plenty of work including two of mine. I'd like to here how your experience works out.

Cost Of Ownership
You can't put a price on enjoying your Z in "The Last Best Place". I DD one as a student at the U and for two summers in Glacier and one in the Tetons, can't beat the scenery or the driving experience.

Time Required for Engine Work
Patcon, if you're willing to make a drive down I-85 Not on Main Street Garage in Sugar Hill GA does a lot of L-series heads. A reputable Z builder is a cross the parking lot from them and takes all his head/machine work there. Address: 720 N Price Rd, Sugar Hill, GA 30518 Phone 770 932-9311

Scion FR-S and Datsun 240Z - An Owner's Comparison
I'm having an F54/P90 built with a cam and triples. It should be closer to 200hp and I've got a 4 pot toyota setup so i'm really looking forward to seeing what it will do. The BRZ looks pretty nice.

Scion FR-S and Datsun 240Z - An Owner's Comparison
My Dad is picking up a new BRZ this weekend, not sure how I'm going to do it but I want to take the Z out to see him and tear up some mountain roads together. I keep wondering if they'll up the displacement to 2.5, seems to be most folks biggest complaint.

Bring it to ZNationals in Carrolton on October 11th. There will probably be 10-15 first gen cars that show up.

[2014] What did you do to/with your Z today?
Took the Z to a monthly meet down the road, met two 370Z owners, one of whom had bought a series I back in Spring of '70, owned it for four years, put 104,000 miles on it on cross country road trips then sold it when he married and had kids...he really enjoyed looking the car over, even remembered the VIN on his car after 40+ years Found out there's a local G/Z club which is nice too.

Engine woes-just had to walk away
I wonder if a Lokar throttle cable swap would help? Most seem to think it improves throttle response.

Car looks like it's in great shape, especially for being in the South. I live in Bonaire and work on Robins, where in Middle GA are you?

What's your very best moment in your Z car.
I've had alot of great memories, I drove it cross country twice (DC to Montana) and out to the Oregon coast twice. I had it for the seasons I worked in Glacier and Grand Teton NPs and my Dad just bought a BRZ, I hope to do a road trip with him through the Rockies in Colorado in the Z and his BRZ.
