So what are your opinions on other Z's? Im bored.
The body style of the early models and the distinct clean lines of the 240 just do more for me than the ZX's ever did. A ZX might make a nice daily driver with A/C and amenities, but I really feel like I'm driving something that was meant to be driven when I'm in my 240. A lot of Z fanatics didn't like the 350, but I think Nissan did a nice job of trying to do what the 240 did when it came out. It is an affordable sports car value with excellent performance. Every 350 they sell ensures the viability of the company which is a quality all its own as well.

Montana to Nashville for $800?
It'll be a good trip. I guarantee you at least one person will come up to you and ask you about your Z.

This is why I speed!
For all the squawking that gets done about street racing or speeding, I wish they were as serious or more so about drunk driving. There are a lot more drunk drivers out there than speeders or street racers and they do a helluva lot more damage.

This is why I speed!
I'm all for going 7-10 miles over the speed limit as applicable. If you're doing that then more power to ya. If you're trying to push 120-130+ in your Z on a deserted stretch of highway eventually something you didn't plan for will get you. Enjoy the ride, if you kill yourself you were probably smiling a few seconds before the end. If you kill someone else in the process, there's a corresponding price to be paid. Keep posting the pics, I like seeing pictures of wide open space with two lane blacktop to drive on, and I will speed as stated above without much hesitation.

I'd swear I've seen that car at Eddie Radatz's place in Atlanta, maybe it's just the same paint job?

Z's and Snow
You can do it, but they really weren't meant to be driven in it. It's pretty much like driving any RWD car without ABS that doesn't weigh very much in the snow. I did it because I had no other vehicle and it is very doable, you just have to give yourself and those around you a lot of space.

Keep the A/C or pull it out?
I checked the unit with the pulley attached to it and it says "Diesel Kiki" and "Made in Japan" underneath that. It definitely wasn't installed on the car by the original owner but more recently. I guess there are a variety of aftermarket options and the PO just picked one.

Keep the A/C or pull it out?
Right now I'm living in Georgia so it would be useful during the summer although I've lived here and in Florida before without it. I'll look more closely and see if I can see what type of unit it is.

Keep the A/C or pull it out?
My '73 has a dealer installed A/C setup in it. The hoses look to be in good condition, and the unit itself looks like it's newer than 30+ years old. Trouble is, it's a pain in the arse to work around, it isn't charged, and I'm guessing I'll have to convert it to R134A costing me I don't know how much. If I knew it would work worth a damn if I did get it working then I would suck it up, but I just don't know how well they worked. I'm going to upgrade my alternator in a month or two so that may help offset whtever power drain there is...but is it all worth it?

Electrical problems/questions on my '73
My '73's electrical system is doing some unusual things that make me wonder what it's going to be like after I upgrade/replace things like the alternator (105 amp), headlight wiring (better), new MSA fusebox etc. When driving down the road with nothing on I periodically hear clicking in the passenger footwell making me wonder what's trying to operate. The wipers move, but only a little bit then seem to run out of "steam". The headlights will come on only when the switch is cycled 2-3 times. Is the clicking a result of the dealer installed A/C trying to cycle? (I thought I had it switched off) Any recommendations would be appreciated, I'd like to get things more reliable before the weather begins to cool/become a factor.

Should i worry about vapor lock?
I only had problems during the summer at elevations above 6,500 feet. Got an electric fuel pump that remedied my problem.

Your First car.
First car with my own money I bought in '86...a 260 with 148K on it. I put another 63K on it before the battey blew and ate a hole through the wheel well. Took two cross country trips in it, great summers in the Tetons and Glacier NP's, and terrifying trips to school after a couple of inches of snow each winter.

GA Body Shop
I think Eddie Radatz may recommend the shop in Lilburn. Ask him who he recommends, he's bound to have sent alot of Z's to someplace in Atlanta for body work.
-
GA Body Shop
Eddie Radatz didn't do body work when I had him do some work on my car a few years ago. He was willing to do trim, replace rubber etc, but recommended a shop to do hardcore body work. Whereabouts in Ga are you? I'm going to have my Z re-painted as well and am curious who you choose and how it all turns out.

Clutch master cylinder question
Just re-united with my Z after 2-1/2 years and while checking the fluids I noticed the top cover on the plastic cap on my clutch master cylinder is separating from the side. It's about 1/3rd of the way off. Is it dangerous to drive? Where can I get a replacement? Could I Super Glue it?

Why the Z
I'd rather be a person on this forum asking why i should restore my Z than be someone on a Vega or Pinto website asking the same question and you know they're out there.

I cant wait till its done
I finally got the combo I wanted in terms of a rust free shell, exterior color, and engine and suspension upgrades. I too put it in storage for 2-1/2 years and will be re-united with it on 12 July. What I love about my Z is its styling, performance, its fun to drive, and my wife despises the thought of driving, riding in it, or letting me take the kids anywhere in it, leaving it all to me to enjoy.
