Beautiful job Ed, thanks for saving another Z and congratulations on a job well done.
  2. I only had problems during the summer at elevations above 6,500 feet. Got an electric fuel pump that remedied my problem.

First car with my own money I bought in '86...a 260 with 148K on it. I put another 63K on it before the battey blew and ate a hole through the wheel well. Took two cross country trips in it, great summers in the Tetons and Glacier NP's, and terrifying trips to school after a couple of inches of snow each winter.

I think Eddie Radatz may recommend the shop in Lilburn. Ask him who he recommends, he's bound to have sent alot of Z's to someplace in Atlanta for body work.

Eddie Radatz didn't do body work when I had him do some work on my car a few years ago. He was willing to do trim, replace rubber etc, but recommended a shop to do hardcore body work. Whereabouts in Ga are you? I'm going to have my Z re-painted as well and am curious who you choose and how it all turns out.
  6. Just re-united with my Z after 2-1/2 years and while checking the fluids I noticed the top cover on the plastic cap on my clutch master cylinder is separating from the side. It's about 1/3rd of the way off. Is it dangerous to drive? Where can I get a replacement? Could I Super Glue it?

I'd rather be a person on this forum asking why i should restore my Z than be someone on a Vega or Pinto website asking the same question and you know they're out there.
  8. I finally got the combo I wanted in terms of a rust free shell, exterior color, and engine and suspension upgrades. I too put it in storage for 2-1/2 years and will be re-united with it on 12 July. What I love about my Z is its styling, performance, its fun to drive, and my wife despises the thought of driving, riding in it, or letting me take the kids anywhere in it, leaving it all to me to enjoy.

yeah, but I think they sleep while they're moving because they have to have motion across their gills to breathe,
  10. I found these on EBay and couldn't believe no one had bid on them yet. I was curious if they would fit on a 240. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7974239702&category=43955
  11. Just curious if any rim that will fit on a 510 will also fit a 240Z.

Ask the Hooters girls if you can "reset the circuit breakers". Thank God personality isn't required to be employed there. It would just ruin the ambience.

It seems like a set pops up every 2-4 months and they can go for as much as $800. I went with the Konig's and am happy but a set of RS-8's is a set of RS-8's.

Another set's been on there a day or two. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7974476420&category=43954

At least Nissan got some money out of him which will enable them to stay in business.

Kind of makes you feel less guilty about social Darwinism.

Where in japan did you find it?

In all seriousness my Z won't be upgraded with anything that wasn't available either physically or of the same style in '73. I just want to replace as much of the old electronics, etc with new so I can get another 30 years out of it. Doing so takes it down from time to time and it's all I can do to get it running again.

My theme is running...whatever it takes.

I had similar problems and it turned out to be the fuel filter was cloogged full of crap. It idled ok but when the flow picked up at higher throttle setting the crap in the filter wouldn't let the fuel through. Just another item to check on your checklist.

I went online ot the Ziebart homepage where they've got a distributor finder function. I had also heard Ziebarting on top of existing rust would not stop that rust from spreading so I understand that surface prep of the area to be treated is critical. I think the Ziebart has prevented rust in some traditional areas and probably did alot just to protect the underside of the car in general from what rock chips or other types of wear and tear would have done to start rust. I also will likely have to replace my floorboards and the rocker panels due to rust so it isn't the total and complete answer to all rust prevention.
  23. Nice...did they drill to mount the rear spoiler?

The car has been sitting for about 2 years and I am due to be re-united with it this summer. It's in New Mexico so I'm thinking the paint took a beating but it shouldn't have rusted at all. I'm planning on sanding under the battery tray to try to clean up what I hope is, surface rust. Would applying Ziebart to that help prevent battery acid from eating through it or would it just eat through the Ziebart?

What's the possibility of opening a "War Room" forum where threads like that can be moved to? I wonder how entertaining it would be if there was a Politics forum folks could post to?
