510 and 240Z, same bolt pattern/spacing on their rims?
I found these on EBay and couldn't believe no one had bid on them yet. I was curious if they would fit on a 240. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7974239702&category=43955

Just curious if any rim that will fit on a 510 will also fit a 240Z.

Ask the Hooters girls if you can "reset the circuit breakers". Thank God personality isn't required to be employed there. It would just ruin the ambience.

Watanabe RS-8's on EBay
It seems like a set pops up every 2-4 months and they can go for as much as $800. I went with the Konig's and am happy but a set of RS-8's is a set of RS-8's.

Whats your cars theme??
In all seriousness my Z won't be upgraded with anything that wasn't available either physically or of the same style in '73. I just want to replace as much of the old electronics, etc with new so I can get another 30 years out of it. Doing so takes it down from time to time and it's all I can do to get it running again.

Whats your cars theme??
My theme is running...whatever it takes.

My Z won't start
I had similar problems and it turned out to be the fuel filter was cloogged full of crap. It idled ok but when the flow picked up at higher throttle setting the crap in the filter wouldn't let the fuel through. Just another item to check on your checklist.

Ziebart question
I went online ot the Ziebart homepage where they've got a distributor finder function. I had also heard Ziebarting on top of existing rust would not stop that rust from spreading so I understand that surface prep of the area to be treated is critical. I think the Ziebart has prevented rust in some traditional areas and probably did alot just to protect the underside of the car in general from what rock chips or other types of wear and tear would have done to start rust. I also will likely have to replace my floorboards and the rocker panels due to rust so it isn't the total and complete answer to all rust prevention.

'71 240Z What do you think?
Nice...did they drill to mount the rear spoiler?

Ziebart question
The car has been sitting for about 2 years and I am due to be re-united with it this summer. It's in New Mexico so I'm thinking the paint took a beating but it shouldn't have rusted at all. I'm planning on sanding under the battery tray to try to clean up what I hope is, surface rust. Would applying Ziebart to that help prevent battery acid from eating through it or would it just eat through the Ziebart?

The Flame Thread
What's the possibility of opening a "War Room" forum where threads like that can be moved to? I wonder how entertaining it would be if there was a Politics forum folks could post to?

"Interesting" Japanese Auto styling
Looks like some of the extras vehicles from "The Road Warrior". No better, no worse.

"Interesting" Japanese Auto styling
When you live on top of each other, your car becomes one of your few outlets to be able to personalize and "express" yourself. I think it looks goofy too until I see what teenagers are doing to Hondas in the States.

What Did Datsun Do To You!?
You gotta stick with the 6 if you want to show the V-8 muscle crowd you're a serious contender. Look on EBay, there are a lot of things you can do for $100 here and there that go along way towards improving the performance of the engine. The second reality of your situation is that it probably won't happen overnight. You're fighting an uphill battle with an older car against newer technology. It can be won, but you have to be patient and persistent and work on one thing at a time. I would also look at how the car is running now, is it in tune, are the carbs adjusted properly, does it need a tune up, simple stuff you can fix with $20-$50.

EBay Z with rotisserie!
I pity the person who buys it because I don't think there's anyone out there who could resuscitate this project unless they were dying to get that VIN'd Z.

EBay Z with rotisserie!
This poor guy must have gotten a copy of Bill Reagan's "How to restore your Z-car" a couple of years ago. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4542667755&category=7251#ebayphotohosting

What Did Datsun Do To You!?
I've experienced more muscle car fanatics who respect Z's than other foreign sports cars. When you go to a car show, if someone asks I'd rather tell them I came in a Z than in a Triumph or a Celica. They don't like "furun crap", but Z's seem to be somewhat acceptable.
-
Here's a winner!!
There's gotta be $75 worth of parts on it though, even if the car is suffering from exposure to "mullet engineering".

What Did Datsun Do To You!?
Just enjoy your ride. That's what it was meant to do for you. There will always be those who envy how much you enjoy your Z.
