  1. Hey everyone, So I am excited to announce that my friend and I are starting a little project together, and i think it has some potential. We just bought a 1974 260 with a 5 speed. (pictures below) From what we know the engine and transmission are both strong, but it has a hard time running right now due to the worn out Hitachi carb setup. Not to worry though, because we purchased a triple weber 40mm DCOE setup with intake that was taken off of a wrecked 240. The guy we bought it from threw in a header as well. So here is our plan, and i would like to know what you guys think. I am new to the world of Zs and am frantically trying to learn as much as possible. We decided it was not worth it to try and get her running with the Hitachi setup, and so I pulled that cluster$#@$ of a system out this evening. We hadn't originally planned to replace the exhaust system right off the bat, but while the intake is out it seems to be the best time to do so. The stock exhaust manifold does not seem to be designed very well plus it has all the smog crap on it that we don't want to deal with. So I think i am going to install the header and have a local welding shop throw together a new 2 1/2" system with a new muffler. I also plan to remove the smog pump and the charcoal canister and go for as clean of an engine compartment as possible. After that, Ill put in the Webers. We figured that since they were taken out of a running 240 the carb setup should be good enough to at least start the car and then we can tune it from there. My friend knows a lot more about webers than I do, but I am hoping to learn all about them. Our goal is to get a nice strong running car and then improve upon it from there. Overall we are hoping to get a nice, fast daily driver for around $2500 that looks good too. Ive posted some initial pictures below with more to come as progress is made. Please let me know what you guys think and if you have any advice or pointers for me. Thanks Phil
