Direct drive 5-speed
Yah.. selling parts is always dodgey. You know that you'll need it again or someone would have givin you some huge $ if you still had it. I just sold some tripple Dellorto's on ebay for $500US Broke even. I think I'll keep my E31 I was trying to sell. Your car's looking really sharp like usual. I should have been a machinist. I just have to finish the brake assembly then I'll take the car to an old airport. Fabricating and installing the Wilwood pedal assembly mounting bracket is a bloody pain. Just because it's hard to get to. These finishing details never seem to end. Cheers, Chris

irl or cart?
Watching those Cadillacs on the Speedvision GT challenge was very impresive. I still like the idea of racing a production vehicle with most of it's original body work in place. Much like the old stock cars. As far as im concerned the cars & people that race SCCA type of events are the most exciting. You have every different engine sound and configuration you can think of. Not to mention their safety, their investment, their pocket book, is all hung out in the breeze. No guts no glory.

I guess oval racing is where the bucks are and people who don't really know anything about Road Racing. :dead:

Stock Block
Yes you get 200 hp with bolt ons. It all depends what head and cam and type of pistons you have. Also what type of fuel system. Side draft or fuel injection etc. The limit to bolt ons is relative to $$$$. Get an E31 done right and your looking at $2K Mikuni side drafts $1800.0 Ignition $300.00 Header - Nissan comp $600.00 And so on and so on. If your going to start spending coin you might as do it right and rebuild the whole engine. I just built entry level race engine. Around 250hp cost $5K I had short block built by Coquitlam automotive and I assembled the rest. Chris, Fellow Vancouverite

Timing chain slack
Has anyone turned their engine over by hand and seen the timing chain go slack when compression seems highest. Maybe this is just indicitive of high compression engines when cranking with a wrench because my other engine that I know has no problems does the same thing..
-
cam tower shims
When I take the valve cover off there is slack on tight side of cam chain. The reason I looked is the chain sounded very sloppy.(Rattling sound). When idling I have 445/290 cam/ isky springs. I didn't install new cam & chain because the showed little wear and lined up perfectly on #1 mark. Update.. It seems when I crank the engine by hand the chain goes slack during highest compression zone. It must be a normal condition when cranking by hand because my other high compression engine that I know runs well, does the same thing.

Zorange
Started new engine it sputtered, smoked, grunted backfired and then lept to 4 grand like a hungry Tiger. I backed it to 1200rpm and let it warm up. Engine now has 5 min on it. Sweet smell of fresh motor and high octane.

Test fit of cell/ floor/ cage.
Is this baby going on the space shuttle or something? Good god man. I bet your sock drawer is all organized by colors, thickness and length ;-)

Almost done
This engine is the one that will go with the White & Orange one thats for sale. If it sells it sells. Money for racing. If not will have to start doing some electrical side jobs for race fund. It's very mild race. Would make a sweet street engine.

I have an E31 head that I'm thinking of selling to help fund my race season. Ported polished slightly milled, large valves, new seats. Mild cam. It ain't cheap though:
