  1. Cornering is the biggest problem. I still have the stock suspension which probably isn't in the greatest shape. If I push the car on it's corner it'll bounce only once but takes it's time coming back up. I guess my problems are just because of my suspension.
  2. Yeah that's what's so confusing heh. Stock engine and full tread on all tires. Yet driving in the rain is like playing nfs:carbon on the drift track. I really have no idea how much weight I've removed but it has to be at least 200lb.
  3. Nah no dash. It was really badly cracked and I have to admit that the vacuum system looks pretty cool when you can see it. It probably would kill the passenger intstantly in a crash though. Anyone know what I can wrap the dash support in that would be the same as hitting the dash?
  4. I pulled it all out because the entire interior was trashed and needed to be replaced. Now I have the stuff out I think I'd rather keep it this way (more spacey ). It's REALLY bad in the rain. I have brand new tires in the rear but it's really hard to keep traction. I'm not sure how much weight I've taken out but it's got to be a lot. I've taken everything out that I can without taking a sawall to it.
  5. Hey all, Pretty much all my interior along with the dash has been taken out of my car. My entire AC system, injector blower, cruise control and a few other chunks of weight have been taken out of the engine bay. Are there any big disadvantages in taking out so much weight? (apart from hardly any traction in the rain) -- Is there anything I should do to help with functionality without throwing sandbags in the back of the car? Just curious, Thanks for any info.
  6. Got it. The vacuum line going through the firewall was connected to the wrong hole on the cylinder to which it should be plugged. (the thing that I guess builds up the vacuum to control the heater vents or something ) Sorry about being so vague.
  7. Hey all, My intake/exhaust gasket has deteriorated and I decided to go ahead and swap it out. I took off the injector connectors, the 3 sensor connectors and the 4 clip-together wires on the top of intake manifold. I then took a look at the lower manifold nuts and decided to go ahead and do this when I had access to more tools. I took the cruise control out along with the 2 vacuum sensors (I think that's what they are) located on the cruise control bracket with a vacuum line going between them. (I plugged the line) I hooked everything back up (injectors/spark wires/sensors/4 weird wires) and now the car revs really harshly and drops down and dies when I let off the gas. Any ideas greatly appreciated, this sucks, Alex

Now that I think about it, the noise while in neutral may not be the same as the noise I'm asking about. I think one of my rear calipers has frozen and that's the slight sound I hear when the pedal is down. So: I hear a loud skateboard noise only when the clutch pedal is up. Arne -> If it was the throw-out bearing then it would only happen when the clutch pedal is down? Damn. Any ideas? [edit] I read your post @ http://classiczcars.com/forums/showpost.php?p=195801&postcount=5 and I think it's probably the output bearing. Will check tomorrow. [/edit] Thanks for the replies.

I grabbed one for $25 (autozone) that had been sitting in stock for 10 years. :nervous: Do I need any special pullers to change out the bearing? (or can I improvise)

Hey all, When I start the car up, and sit in neutral, I have a very slight grinding sound (like a skateboard on concrete). As I drive the sound intensifies (not relative to speed). If I disengage the clutch then the sound goes back to how it is while idling. I'm thinking it's the throwout bearing. Sound like the right symptoms? Is there anything else that this sounds like? Thanks for any info, Alex
