Who does everyone use for insurance?
thanks Carl for the 411 on your post answering my questions. I understand the concept of the Agreed Value, however in practicality wasnt sure what might happen. I realize that some of us might have more passion for our cars than what they really are worth and was curious about the outcomes of such occasions. Hope to see you up at the Z car convention. Russ

Who does everyone use for insurance?
Just curious, is there anyone out there that has an agreed value with one of these companies and had to use the policy??? If so were they straight up or did they try and come back at you and say it is a 30+ year old Datsun here is $1500 if that????? Getting the itch to start driving my Z again, and am curious whether these collector policies are worth what they make themselves out to be.

Difference between all Z Engine Blocks?
if not mistaken the L20B has a higher engine block deck height, which would alow for the longer stroke I guess. If you look at the front cover there is an extra bolt at the top on either side! Thanks guys for confirming my understanding of the L24 block with 280 rods and crank and 240 pistons

Difference between all Z Engine Blocks?
If you want a big bore L24, your best bet is an L28 block with L24 crank, L24 rods and L28 pistons (same pin height as the L24). Not sure if you could consider this a big bore L24 since you are using a L28 block, symantics put aside what displacement do you wind up with in this combination??? Someone also mentioned a 2.7 from a L24 block, what combination would you use to achieve that displacement?? Have been told that my current motor is a L24 with 280 rods and crank, which I am lead to believe is a displacement of 2.6? Thanks for the help

Wix/Napa Filter Number for 72 240z
Original Fram P/N was PH2850 when the L series motor was popular, the PH8A is for Ford products but seems to work fine on the L series motor

Arizona Z type front brakes
Taking a guess here but is the rotor centered on the caliper not sure if it would make much difference or not

oooold datsun
Can remember back in the day seeing them all the time in the wrecking yards including SSS versions........man I wish I would have bought a handful and pocketed the SSS emblems. I am sure they might be worth something now

E-Mailed Top Gear
Think that says it right there, what would you expect from those delicate Italian cars. Pretty tuff to make a Datsun/Nissan motor crap itself or an old Z die
-
FRP shells available?
Thanks for bringing this back to light, I know I would have never found the original thread but do find it very interesting. Have wanted a Z track car but never wanted to risk damaging a real Z

How would you build a DSP AUTO-X Z
Please make your comments to the SEB. Wanting to race the Z BAD but want to be competitive, help me out! Hi, Russell, Your comments have been logged 10-277 for SP Reclassing Comments and sent to the SEB. They will discuss this topic and once they have made a decision they will post it in a future FasTrack news. Thanks for your input! [mailto:rjones@atlanticmarine.com] Sent: Sunday, April 18, 2010 1:07 PM To: seb Subject: Move of Datsun S30 to DSP I am disturbed to see that the long awaited move of the first generation Datsun Z might be moved to CSP instead of the initial plan of DSP. This car is a lot more suited for DSP considering its age and suspension design. The car also has a huge loyal following that could generate a resurgence of participation once this following saw that their car was entering a class where it could fairly compete. Please reconsider the class of the first Generation of Datsun Z and place the car in DSP

Once again comments placed with the SCCA SEB for the move to DSP. All supporters of the Z; please make your comments regardless of whether you race, to the SEB in favor of the move. Let them know that would be your deciding factor to race the Z!!!

2010 Nat'l Z Convention Track Day !!
Looking forward to running the track event, wish it was on Saturday though so everyone would not have to tow back home on a Sunday night after a long day of track time. For the tech inspection I was planning on arriving Thursday afternoon so I could attend the Auto-X on Friday, how is the pre-tech going to be handled for the track day? looking forward to a fun event

How would you build a DSP AUTO-X Z
Here is a copy of my email to the Board, hoping that every SCCA member will write your own email or at least cut and paste mine, dont forget to change the membership # ! Lets get this through. Dear SEB, The following proposal of the Move from BSP to DSP: Datsun 240Z & 260Z & 280 Z. Also revise current BSP listing to “Datsun 280ZX/280ZX Turbo (‘79-’83) (ref. 09-673) has gained my interest, as a owner of a 1972 Datsun 240Z I am disappointed in the overwhelming odds against this car in BSP. The growth of technology has resulted in the earlier Datsun Z’s being outclassed, the move to DSP would add another car to this class that would be competitive and have a power to weight ratio in keeping with this class. There is still a large following of the early Z’s thereby allowing for additional growth to Auto-X racing. I am hoping the board will see the benefits of this class change to both bringing back a car with a huge following and much history in SCCA Competition. Sincerely, Russ Jones MBR# 344303
