You will not be far from Sears Point Race way now called Infineon Raceway. http://www.searspoint.com/ If you have never been to CA and you have days off you may want to check out Lake Tahoe.

I have seen one of those Dodges up close and my first impression was a steam locomotive, then fat and heavy. Most of these overdone trucks (like ricers) for men with little wankers:tapemouth

It was a video of someone trying to load a Z race car onto a trailer. Rear wheel were on the trailer front wheels on the ramps. But the trailer was not attached to a tow vehicle so as he sent power to the wheels the trailer moved under the car:stupid:

Yes the 50s and 60s hemis are what come to mind when you say Hemi. Heck my 73 Dodge colt was a hemi, and my 93 Saturn is a hemi and god knows how many other cars have hemispherical combustion chambers. Which brings me to other ad agency rip off of the 60s cars. . . Acura or Intrega calling a model the return of the muscle car! The Muscle car will never return. It was a stripped down model with a monster engine crammed in. It shook, rattled and smelled of raw horsepower. Its like calling the 300ZX the same type of car as the 240Z. IMO the car that has come closest to 240Z idea was the early Mazda Miata, affordable, fun to drive and will not hurt your eyes to look at.

Sorry but I have to disagree, the engines in the 60s cars typically only lasted 100,000 miles, after about 6 months everything rattled. Oh and the warrantee 1 to 3 months on body parts 12-24 K miles on the engine. Now lets look a the performance (American cars only) wow strait line acceleration but oh my god do not change directions  unless you have the beefed up suspension that came in patrol cars. BUT I still have fond memories of my dads 69 Chrysler Town and Country with a 383, and the heavy duty package (patrol car) which included a 4BBL carb and a ¼ race cam. Man did that car sound good when you put your foot into it. There is still no auto sound more American than a big V8 Getting back to the lack of quality in the older cars, before OPEC :pirate: :bandit: oil embargo of 73 the Japanese cars had been making slow in roads to our market then due to fuel mileage concerns they got a leg up on US cars and the general public discovered the quality of the cars. The US makers had to play catch-up and IMO generally they have done a good job. Could they do better? Yes

Thanks Dave, My son has a 510 and I have a 240. Now we can play with paint schemes on our models.

my understanding this that the "wires" are glued on the glass and you can get "patch" kits from places like (I think) Eastmans. Also do a search on this site's forums I have seen this discussed before and I may of been here.

Holy cow my parents in the 70s said I as going to loose my hearing but this generation is going over kill you guys are going to get some weird bone problem or something from all this loud low frequency sound. Heck my kid is running wiring in his car that I can use in my home on a 60 amp 220 circuit!! And I thought the Dark Side of the Moon concert was loud, silly me :stupid:

If anyone is intrested there is a few of us in the Sacramento area. I would be willing to take a look for you and snap more photos. It looks like he is at the Auburn or Grass Valley air port 20 or 45 min from my home.
  18. My 2cents, both my sons had to drive my 92 Saturn SL2 for a minimum of one year before they could go to another car. Why, drivers side air bag, very high crash safety stats, ABS, less expensive than a Honda but as reliable, ~30 MPG in town, ~37 MPG hwy and does not hurt yours eyes to look at. Since they are not the "in" car with the ricers you can get one with ~100,000 miles for $2000-2500 and if she wants a sportier version she can get the SC2 same car different skin. I think is crazy to let a new driver have a higher powered car with rear wheel drive. My own personal experience with this is my son driving the 92SL2 hit a new female driver when she pulled out in traffic and tried to accelerate hard but she lost traction and slid into his lane. He was ok, the car was fixed by him and I with $450 of parts and her insurance gave me $2000:classic: Oh what was she driving . . . . a Ford Lighting :stupid: :stupid: :stupid:

Hey what about after cleaning, I know with home wiring there is some kind of goop to put on aluminum connections to prevent hot spots does any one know if there is anything for automotive use?
  20. Are you serous? The answer is that most here appreciate the Z for it’s original lines. I personally put the wings in the same category of oversized car stereos and 4x4 with monster tires. Most wings out there are oversized for the cars and look silly. Also in general this is an older group and the wing thing is younger thing

Come on! it is not robbing HP and it is improving your fuel consumption (very small amount) BUT it reduces the amount of unburned fuel released to the air to make smog and for all of us to breathe. Do us all favor and route it to the original locations
  22. owenk posted a post in a topic in Engine & Drivetrain
My guess also. The lines look like surgical tubing and that will not hold up to fuel.

Wait a minute, you mean to tell me that Nevada (anything goes state) and Arizona (republican strong hold in the west) has more strict emissions requirements than California (liberal stronghold in the west) ???:stupid:

I think have what you want, i will send a photo tonight.
  25. I am building a garage and have included a service pit which we used for the first time last Friday. My sons car needed the starter replaced so we moved the construction items and open up the pit. It was great! I found out that both of us fit in the pit with no probems. It is 20" deep and you can check it out at www.aristata.net under the Garage - Family Room Project / Foundation links, you can see it in the last 2 photos. I am planning on adding a bathroom vent fan to provid fresh air.
