  1. The old TV ads are not longer at the link does anyone know if they are coming back?
  2. Hey if anyone is interested parts for a right hand drive 300ZX you may want to check out a right hand drive 1990 300ZX in the Rockin Pick-n-Pull which is just East of Sacramento CA. It is not in good shape but i noticed that the petals and the steering colum are still present. The body is trash. The rear end is present but the engine and trans are gone. This is as of Sunday ~4PM PST

Back in March 1992 I purchased a Saturn 4 door because the dealer did not treat me like sh.. I ended up ordering a car with ABS and an air bag and by the time my car arrived the JD Powers report had come out and Dealers could not keep the cars on the lot. I was stopped in shopping centers by people offering me $1000 to $2000 over what I had paid for the car. Idiots! The thing that impressed me is that I have never heard of one occurrence of a Saturn dealer taking advantage of the situation and jacking the car prices up. Most car dealers are trash, they will lie, cheat, etc to get the sale. In my 47 years on this planet have had the chance to screw dealers twice and have enjoyed it each time. The real kicker is that some dealers do not understand why folks feel this way! But they again they just find the sheep and lead them to slaughter :dead:

No the roads are not getting any worse you are getting older! Why do you think all the old farts want to drive cars with mushy rides and seats that would fit in your living room!

No No the middle one was build by Disney for Donald Duck!
  6. I pulled mine apart so could clean out the cylinders. There are 2 small O rings top and bottom that were included in my rebuild kit. i have had no problems. I did this on the advice from my 30 year autoshop teacher friend that does it all the time and reuses the O rings and has had no problems.
  7. The old posts are a "goldmine" or should I say "Zmine" of information. I would like to see the old forsale posts deleted. . .say after one month.

Back in those days the Bumpers should have been call "Benders" because that is all they did was to bend out of shape if you tapped a poll, etc. At least the new "Rubber" bumpers have chance.

I was born in Okinwawa but I have lived in Europe and Colonies (USA).
  12. I go to the NASCAR Feather Weight race the day before the big boys and it great fun to see these guys lean all over one another. My favorite spot is turn 2. The track is wide and it is a right hander with drop at the top so into the dirt they go and then back onto the trackROFL . Lots of fun. By the end of the 100 laps you have cars with out any body front body panels running around the track! Then after the race you can go back in the pits and look at the sheet metal with rubber up and down the sides.
  13. What city are you in? So we can get an idea of shipping costs

I am very fond of both my Saturns because of the way I was treated at the dealership. No Markup, fixed price, and no what can I do to get you in the car today crap. A year later (93) I purchased a Dodge mini van, my wife and I were kept at the dealership for 4 F'n hours while they kept telling us that it would be another 15 min to sign papers. When we finally got to the closer we were pissed and wanted to know why they did not want us to make an appointment to come back later. The answer was that most customers do not come back. We countered that maybe if you treated them better they would! The other comparison is when the van kept loosing the center 1.5inch diameter wheel caps they tried telling us that it was our fault. I took the service manager out to their service drive up and pointed out two vans with the same wheels as ours that were missing the center caps . . . My experience at Saturn was when one windshield wiper was loose and not moving. I went into the parts department to get a look at the parts book before I took it apart and hopefully pick someone brain. When unknown to me the service manager was in the pack of the department, over heard my problem and before I was out to my car he had a wrench on it and had it fixed ! Because of these experience I always take my Saturn to Saturn when it is a repair that I can not do myself. And when I still had the van and once it was out of warranty they never saw it again.

My feelings exactly. I really enjoyed the Cadillac ads shown with the Led Zeppelin sound track with the old and the new. But then again I think we already know they are not marking to the 40+ crowd. I find it a bit odd with that decision because my wife and I in the next 4 years are planning to purchase a small newer convertible sports car for road trips. And I do not see us alone in this attitude because our friends with kids growing up are looking for “fun” autos. But then again others are buying motor homes:sick:

Well I saw my first 350Z add Sunday night (9/9/02) @~10:30PM during the show Law & Order. I did not think much of the add looks like the first one of a series to get you wondering just what kind of a car is this. It consisted of stills in silver tones. Has anyone seen anything else? How about you folks down under, UK or Europe?

I agree, the other item that gets me is when someone removes the vapor recovery system. i.e. charcoal canister. Because it does not affect performance and it actually helps with fuel economy by not letting the gas evaporate into the air.

Because of this thread I did some research over the weekend (spoke with my 40 years of experience mechanic) and found out that smog pump job is to inject fresh air (O2) into the exhaust stream so unburned fuel still at high temp would continue react with the O2 which results in fewer unburned hydrocarbons emitted. Apparently in some later autos with cats. the smog pump would inject into the cat. to help with the reaction.
  19. If your wife drives a mini van I would assume that you have kids. I would not want my kids riding around in such a small SUV crushable auto. Don't get me wrong I have seen the new Mini running around my area and it looks great and the turbo version I hear is kick a.s to drive but I draw the line when fun does not protect my genetic code being carried on. My wife wanted out of our mini van when the oldest started driving so we got her a used Volvo 850GL. Which I have found to be very fun to drive because it handles so well and it will get out of its own way! (I only wish that it had a 5 speed) Anyway my kids come first when it comes to my auto selection because where I live there a too many soccer moms with SUVs that do not have a clue where the corners of their sheet metal toad ends!
  20. I do not know the height that you are removing the transmission from but on my truck which has the same five speeds but different gears I had rope around the tail so my son could pull the tail up and while I lifted the front into place.
  21. ditto to SMG1404, that has been my experance also with the local stores

SO THAT IS WHERE MY SCREW DRIVER WENT !!!! And all this time I was blaming it on my kids!
  23. Hey Coast Guard what the heck did NAPA do to fall so far down on your list?
  24. In California, if you put a auto with a salvage title back on the road you must have it inspected by the Highway Patrol. The inspection is done for road "worthlyness"
  25. I have purchased brake tubing at Kragen auto parts comes in 1 to 4 foot lenghts. Then you bend it to suit the need. I would suggest a tubing bender for the tight bends of the front setup.
