Not sure what your budget is, but the best way would be to have it bead blasted and powder or ceramic coated. Just my $.02

Just an FYI that I found an uncracked 72 dash for my dad on eBay a year or two ago and got it for like $150-175 shipped IIRC. They are out there..

You may have luck if it were a Z-71 truck as lots of people need trucks. But unfortunately slim chances on a trade for a lumina...

Perhaps the PO installed a governor so you won't make it to 88 and therefore sent back to 1955????

Zedyone, I am not 100% sure but my dad probably won't post again until he returns from Zcon. I believe they are 16"x 7.5". Gary, I got to drive it Saturday and it's like a brand new car. It's amazing!

Eiji came with his lovely 280/240 to stay at my dad's so they could leave bright and early for Zcon this morning. Eiji brought his Z out of the trailer for some shots of both gorgeous S30's. We drank beers, ate tenderloins and talked cars. Too bad I will be missing the show this week Someone has to stay to hold down the fort at work.

Does that car have an O2 sensor? I would check that as it takes a while for the O2 sensor to warm up.

Went over to help my dad install the motor and transmission.

Borrowed a torque wrench and snapped some more photos of the progress.

The interior of my dad's car looks great with the new carpet and seats but the console looked a bit faded and all the silver trim has been worn off. So I restored it for him this evening First I cleaned it with rubbing alcohol. Next I sprayed a few light coats of bulldog plastic adhesion promoter followed with many light coats of SEM satin black. Once that dried I spent 30-45 minutes masking every line on the center panel with 1/4" masking tape and sprayed 3 light coats of silver followed with a coat of clear. It came out terrific!!! As always I should have taken the before photos. But I am always so anxious to jump right to it.

My dad and I finally brought her back to his house for the first time in 3 years.... It's a thing of beauty! The body work and paint is pure perfection.

Very nice!! Love the wats, flares and the ITB's!!! Did you order the single ITG filter or the individuals? You will love the ITG stuff! Had it on my 510.

Almost done. The engine bay was washed of the liquid masking.

Thanks Jeff. It was a great car. I don't miss it as much as I thought I would but maybe that's b/c the price I was offered was too good to pass up. And I went back to building up the BMW which has been my #1 project for years. She just got outfitted with turbo, new exhaust and 6 piston wilwood brakes up front. Hope the ole man doesn't mind if I post a few while we wait for the finished safari gold car. I also hope to do an S30 one day... Tom, Can't wait to see the 356 all finished!

I suggest we spray it with the nice satin rally black paint like the 510 had. Since it's now 2 stage paint, lowered with panasports and is sporting a different motor, I don't think it needs to be 100% like factory.

Windshield is in. All that's left now is the cowl and a few other things. They were preparing to paint the rear wells when we stopped by today.

They told me my dad would be getting it back this week This is super exciting!! I cannot wait to see this car back together with pretty much new everything!

Mitchell... I have been barking up that tree for years now!!! I don't know how to get him to just give in and get some triple mikuni's etc... The 510 was awesome with them. Would have been a total bore with SU's. Maybe if you all chime in it will help convince him. I mean 4 z's with SU's is too much. We need something different in at least one of them! Afterall, I did convince him not to paint the safari gold car silver. And I convinced him to go 16" panasports on all instead of 15". Let's get a petition going. Triple carbs FTW!!!!
