What colour to paint Calipers
If you clear it, use satin and make sure you use a high temp clear. If not it will yellow and flake off. Have it bead blasted first for an incredibly clean look. Just don't touch the metal b/t the time it's blasted and cleared.

Drums look horrible in bright colors. Looks too ricey IMO. I say go black or steel color. Like magnesium.

Replacement Fenders?
My dad and I were just looking at alfaparts/wolf steel. Our body guy has used the alfa panels many times and he does not like them at all!!!!!! It seems like Tabco is the "best" replacement. But that does not mean best quality by any means.

Gauging interest in engine bolts
Bolt kit came today All yellow zinc factory OEM nissan bolts. Well 99% were yellow zinc. Nissan stopped doing yellow zinc so a few of these are only available in silver zinc. I am trying to see if my source wants to sell any more of these sets. He even broke them down and labeled them for convenience!!!! <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/14049800@N00/2634580174/" title="IMG_9327 by RVAE34, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3098/2634580174_cfd0fe515c_b.jpg" width="1024" height="683" alt="IMG_9327" /></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/14049800@N00/2634579274/" title="IMG_9326 by RVAE34, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3185/2634579274_20170cd85d_b.jpg" width="1024" height="683" alt="IMG_9326" /></a>

Poindexter.... Get the dynamat bulk packs from eBay. They are only about $120 per pack. Two should be enough for the whole car. I did my 510 with the bulk pack. What a difference!!!! Go dynamat or go home. All other brands are garbage!!!

Mid_Eastern Meet Guaging interest?
My friend and I have been talking about putting together a Mid-Atlantic Japanese car club for a while. I have been to several of the local Z club meets but they a bit too political. It would be nice to have a group of all vintage Japanese cars that meet once every other month or so to just hang out, take some photos and do a group drive. The local Z meets have been dinners and wine tastings so far. I have a really nice 72 510 and my dad has incredibly nice 70, 71, and 72 240z's. The local Z club doesn't seem to have that many 240 & 260's though. We are in Richmond VA. There seem to be a lot of 510 members in MD, NOVA and DC as well as NC. Unfortunately my 510 was not ready for the East Coast meet this year

Fastenal can get just about anything. Only problem is the 50-100 piece minimum order. You just need one of these to figure out exactly what size, length and thread pitch you need. http://www.atlanticfasteners.com/cart/images/bolt.gif I could understand him charging $10 if he had a broken leg and was going to the post office just to ship your driveshaft bolts. Look at how many items he sells everyday though. I couldn't sleep at night knowing I was doing that to people.

Yeah. Unfortunately. Unless anyone wants to pick up where I left off. I did all the leg work already so......

Gauging interest in engine bolts
Unfortunately they sent me silver zinc not yellow zinc. Even at that rate, I don't feel that they look close enough to factory style for my standards. Of course I am as anal as they come when it comes to this stuff. Many might be fine with them though. They don't have the recessed head or the attached lock washers so....... I feel that they are most likely the same as many of the ones that Reddat sells or are similar. I have seen a number of his which don't have the recessed head. I am confident his oil pan bolts are not OEM as Nissan's have fixed lock washers. His do not. I do not want to pursue this further as I found a supplier that has a very limited number of all the Nissan factory bolts in the original finish. I am buying a few of those sets for my dad and I to have for our current and future cars. If anyone wants to move forward, you can PM me and I will give you all the details with the order number.

They only sell a few of the bolts. I ordered my oil pan bolts and fender bolts from them. All others are NLA. I spent a lot of time checking individual part numbers

Sample bolts/washers are in. I will pick them up at lunch and post some pix this eve. I will post side by side pix with the OEM's to compare the style and finish.

Is this the next Z?
It's beautiful!!!!

How to detail older paint
I have never had to bring the finish back on an original paintjob this old, but when I got my 87 red pathfinder it was almost pink I very carefully buffed it with a high speed buffer at 1500 RPM. I started with a wool pad using 3M extra cut compound, 3M swirl mark remover and then 3M final glaze followed by hand wax. It now looks like new!!!!

Yeah.... My freshly built BMW M52 with M3 cams sounds pretty damn good. My dad always tells me he can hear me coming long before I roll up in his driveway. Although my Robello built L20b with twin Mikuni 44's and no filters sounds pretty damn badass The best sounding car on the planet (best car on the planet period) is the Ferrari F40 IMO. Twin turbo V8 without all the computerized BS. drool................

I just ordered some samples of the partial thread, full thread bolts and lock washers. I will update with detailed pix before I order to gauge true interest.

These would most likely not be identical but close. No attached lock washers for instance. Although the lock washers and/or standard washers would be included. They would simply be a convenient way to restore an entire engine w.out using the NAPA or Ace bolts. They are 10.9 grade which are not cad plated to my knowledge. Was referring to the style of plating that most closely resembles factory (gold'ish/green color). I have been told that 10.9 is perfect for automotive use. I am still doing research though before I move forward.

New L 28 Goes In The 1970
I was over there helping out last night. It fired up on the first key turn!!!!! It sounds like a godzilla on steroids having a bad Monday "Look Look!!!! The creature is attacking" The whole car wants to twist when it revs. The revs are so fast as well. Makes me want a Z!!! At idle it lopes like a big block. I have a feeling this car is really going to wake up now.

I have found that full and fair disclosure take care of 90% of that. I have sold numerous items on eBay and never even get questions. My stuff sells and I have 100% perfect feedback. My comments are a tribute to how I sell. I list everything. The good, the bad and the ugly. I am unsure as to specific prices yet. Probably a 20-30% discount to the eBay bolts with "reasonable" shipping costs. If I go ahead with this, I will have enough leftover after our builds to sell b/t 30-50 entire L series 10.9 grade bolt kits with a few days on the lead time.
