  1. Indeed. But there is no way the bolts he has are original. He doesn't send them in Nissan packaging and they do not appear to be OEM when comparing them. The prices of his items are not my issue. It's the shipping. $12 for 4 bolts. Insanity. Especially when it says $2.10 from USPS. I understand marking up shipping for your troubles. But he obviously sends this stuff out all the time so there are no "troubles"
  2. My dad and I have 4 Datsuns b/t the two of us. We have built 3 engines over the past 3 months and have had the hardest time ever finding exterior engine bolts, washers, nuts etc. I am not referring to the silver Zinc either. There are plenty of those at Ace Hardware. I am referring to the grade 10.9 yellow zinc/cad plating. Reddat wants $100 for the whole L series set of bolts in the original finish which doesn't even include oil pan bolts. Those are still available from Nissan. His shipping costs are absolutely outrageous and not stated in the auction description. I believe I have found a source for all these with a very large minimum order. If so, I will be selling entire L series bolt kit and individual packages like front timing cover, oil pump, therm housing etc at much more reasonable prices. Would there be any interest in this???? Thanks, Brandon
  3. I used EZautomovers for my 510 last month. Door to door in no time. Excellent customer service and great rates. Even the driver was the coolest guy ever. I would highly reccomend giving them a call. Ask for Phil and tell him the guy in Richmond VA with the 510 they moved a few weeks ago referred you. http://www.ezautomovers.com/
  5. If you do get enough interest, I think my dad has a few parts he would like to add to the group.
  6. Troy will send the pieces to be re-done. Troy is a great guy!!! I got the carpet kit for my 510 from him. My dad (Diseazd) will most likely be sending his pieces to Troy's guy.
  7. Anyone have experience with these guys? We have been looking at this site but haven't found anyone with personal experience http://www.alfaparts.net/datsun.html
  8. My dad and I have been looking at this company for doglegs. Does anyone have experience with them? http://www.alfaparts.net/datsun.html
  9. Here are the latest pictures of my dad's Z restoration. <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/14049800@N00/2549890272/" title="IMG_9048 by RVAE34, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3185/2549890272_40c275f01e.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="IMG_9048" /></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/14049800@N00/2549890396/" title="IMG_9051 by RVAE34, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3075/2549890396_7f2f55e8d7.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="IMG_9051" /></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/14049800@N00/2549890506/" title="IMG_9056 by RVAE34, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2325/2549890506_4e64aac2bc.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="IMG_9056" /></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/14049800@N00/2549890598/" title="IMG_9058 by RVAE34, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3104/2549890598_52e45a9dc4.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="IMG_9058" /></a>
  10. Looks good. Two things though: Buffing will not get rid of the run. With runs, you carefully take a razeor blade and shave the raised part of the run off. Almost at the same angle of the panel. Be careful not to come at it with too much of an angle or you will cut into the paint. Then take some 1500 or 2000 grit and carefully wetsand by spraying water as you sand. Use a foam block as your fingers will cause un-even sanding. Then buff it and your done. In regards to your stickers. Please wait at least two months to put them on. Maybe more. Otherwise if you ever want to remove them, you will also remove the clear coat Looks like Maaco did a great job for the price.
  11. I hope you all don't mind a bit of off Zed topic (especially my dad ), but I wanted to post a few updates of the 510 in here. The car is very nice but it had some issues. Carb issues and/or fuel delivery. The engine itself is an absolute beast. Today I had confirmation from Robello that they built the motor. And it is a screamer!!!! Door frames, B pillars and quarter windows were painted black which I didn't like. The engine bay was dirty not painted as well as the car itself. Finally, the interior was loud and obnoxious with no carpet. Wolfcreek is finishing up with the manifold, carbs and linkage. The Twin Mikuni Solex 44's with Mikuni short manifold. Rebuild and clean. New linkage components and bead blasting. Locally I had the valve cover, grill, cowl, wiper motor, hood support assembly and a few other things bead blasted. From Friday after work until Monday eve I pulled the motor, stripped, cleaned and masked the bay followed by 3 coats of PPG spice orange and 2 coats of PPG high solids clear. My dad (Diseazd) got me a nice Devilbiss paint gung for my Bday. It is the single greatest tool I have ever owned. Lays glass smooth finish with no wetsanding and no runs!!!! Looks beautiful. ngs bead blasted The window frames, B pillars and quarter window frames were black before. Sprayed those orange as well with the PPG base/clear after lots of masking. Last week I did a full dynamat kit. Carpet kit from Too intense should be here this week. Can't wait!! I hear good things about their products <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/14049800@N00/2516748105/" title="IMG_8840 by RVAE34, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3190/2516748105_fecd5954c6.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="IMG_8840" /></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/14049800@N00/2516747069/" title="IMG_8837 by RVAE34, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2063/2516747069_909dcc2023.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="IMG_8837" /></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/14049800@N00/2521597460/" title="IMG_8871 by RVAE34, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3103/2521597460_35b609cc09.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="IMG_8871" /></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/14049800@N00/2520781279/" title="IMG_8880 by RVAE34, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3153/2520781279_ac8dcf0aa4.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="IMG_8880" /></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/14049800@N00/2522358146/" title="IMG_8888 by RVAE34, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2420/2522358146_58c46e4756.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="IMG_8888" /></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/14049800@N00/2522166925/" title="IMG_8898 by RVAE34, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3192/2522166925_3a054cd735.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="IMG_8898" /></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/14049800@N00/2525951632/" title="IMG_8937 by RVAE34, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2293/2525951632_b4e93a2ff4.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="IMG_8937" /></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/14049800@N00/2510196598/" title="IMG_8793 by RVAE34, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2098/2510196598_d259e95eee.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="IMG_8793" /></a>
  12. If you really want a nice paint job, then remove the front windshield and the rear window from the hatch. It will only cost you a little extra, but the difference will be extraordinary. Maaco can do good paint jobs. Especially if they have a good painter on hand (which is the make or break with the franchises from my understanding) They can just lack in pre and post work for speed. The masking has been subpar from cars I have seen. I have also seen trash in the clear. All that requires is some wetsanding and buffing. We garage painters are used to it If you masked the car and towed over.... Even better. I know it's a bit more money and a hassle to do these things, but cutting corners on a job that important will come back to bite you in the arse later

Just found out the guy that bought the white car is thinking of selling it already. He said everything is great, but he already misses power steering and brakes after only two days. He is bringing it to my dad's this weekend so we will keep you posted after having a look. It looks like a really nice car

I agree with many here. Get a car with a very clean body. Mechanical stuff is easy and can be fun. That is what I am doing with the 510. Perfect rust free body but quite a few mechanical gremlins. All easy to fix and a great learning experience. I do all my own paint work but I absolutely hate body work. Rust and bondo are your worst enemy

Is it the white one in NC? We just directed a local guy to that car last week. He said he was buying it. The car with white front and rear spoilers
  17. I use 3 compounds total cost of $90-110. 3M extra cut for removing 1500-2000 sand marks. Then 3M swirl mark remover followed my 3M finish it or finesse it. Afterwards I hand wax with Mcquires gold carnubeau (sp?) I also use a variable high speed buffer. Usually buff at about 2000-3000RPM. I use a tericloth pad for the extra cut, then a coarse foam pad for swirl mark and a fine foam pad for the final compound
  18. love the JDM grill!!
  19. Looks great!!!! My painter tells me to wetsand and buff a bit sooner than later. I let the clear cure for 2-3 days at 70 degrees +. It makes the job go easier. You just have to be careful not to buff one spot too long
  20. Carl, I am using a Canon EOS rebel digital SLR. D300 6.1 megapixel. I absolutely love it!!!! Brandon
