Funny, this happened to me when I posted photos of my car a couple years back. Granted, that was the last time I ever posted photos again. One has to remember when the work/mods were done as well. As with the case of my car ALL the work was done in the mid 70's, hence the era style pin striping etc.... To each his own.... I rolled my car out of a 20+ year hiding, quickly washed her, took photos to post here, then pushed her back into her hiding spot in my garage. I haven't seen her since. After the response I got from my car one would think I completely molested it, which is far from the case. Now I just find myself reading post to gain info for when I do began a resto on her....
  2. Run, run far. And just keep running. Don't look back, just keep running....

Been doing well. Where and when is Canby this year? I sure know my Z wont make it there, but I'd love to make it if I can.... Thanks for the welcome back Dave. Much appreciated....

Not sure if any of you remember me, but I've been gone for about nine months. I had many personal issues arise that took me away from this board, other boards, and quite frankly out of the State for a period of time. I sure have missed the camaraderie of this board, the people, and all the wisdom it contains.... Well, I'm back and hope to be able to be part of the family again. The Z is still in the same shape it was; sitting in my garage waiting for its return to glory. Not sure when that will be, but at least I can read up, converse, and ask questions preparing for the day I'll finally be able to start my project.... You guys are great and have been missed.... :squareeye -Z Speed
  6. Nice Arne. AC make some nice looking wheels. BMW's by far create the most brake dust from their stock pads I have ever seen from and auto dealer. The stock pads are very good though. I bought the OEM Competition Package ZCP M3 wheels about a month before I parked it and they look gun metal gray when they are suppose to look aluminum. Thank god I used wheel wax before I had rubber mounted. I have pockets of dirt built up in the crevasses of the spokes..... It's top of the list for Sat. I always spend about three hours to wash with an hour of that just on the wheels. It'll look like new when I am done....

WOW, sorry Julio, I completely missed that. Thanks a bunch....
  8. I can't even remember the last time I drove my Z. Heck, the car seen it's first ray of sunlight after a 10+ year hiatus a few weeks back when I washed and took photos of her. I really miss driving that car.... The M hasn't been washed in over 3-4 months due to the crappy weather and lack of time. It has what looks like brown racing stripes across the bonnet and top. The rear looks like a brownish blue. The BMW guys would kill me for the shape it's in. I am really embarrassed to drive it. I haven't driven it in over a month and half too.... Things will change this weekend. We will actually have the sun come out and I will be able to wash it and mow the lawn. My wife has a whole list of honey-do's and she trying to get me to do them all on the same weekend. Boy will she be surprised. I'm not Superman. All I want to do is wash the M and drop the tank on the Z. I wished I was cloned 3 fold....

I have the aluminum channels with rubber inserts. I love the look without, but I also like the look with. I will more than likely keep mine when I do my refresh and/or restore. Do you know if this is still an available part(s)? Thanks....
  10. Not me. I love the coupes all the way. Very nice car and what a steal. I'm guessing that is some of the best money ever spent....
  11. Ditto. Ferraris by far have always and will always be my most fav. Lamborghini are in the mix too.... The Ferrari 250 GTO is probably the car I covet the most though. I love the older Alfa's as well. My list could go on forever....
  12. , too funny. I know where you're coming from....
  13. Ron I couldn't agree more. I too, find the beauty in things you speak of. On the same note; it's like taking the old back roads/highways/byways and seeing the relics of forgotten towns or old gas stations and such. That's why, for me, the fastest way isn't always the best way when taking trips. Granted I don't get to it often, but I jump at the chance anytime possible and always take time for the detour and/or sudden stops along the way.... The unmolested past has a quiet calm and is quite majestic when viewed by someone who can truly appreciate it for what it's worth-a humbling spectacular-ness.... Sorry for the mushy-ness, but I can really relate. I think a photo thread of this topic would be awesome....
  14. What a mess. Some people always look for the easy way instead of fixing the problem properly. Seems like you care about the car. I would definitely take Gary's advise and replace the harness. Just from the photos, the car looks to be in decent shape. Good luck and hope it turns out well....
  15. I have loads of feathers. This could take a while boys....
  16. OK boys! String him up and get the tar - I got the feathers. We'll take care of this old school.... Hah, you got me as well....
  17. Will, I was only kidding you; hence the wink. I do realize the time and effort involved. That is one of the reasons I admire the time and effort Dave has put forth with his harnesses (which I have yet to purchase at this time; I know I know shame on me). I also appreciate the time you take with the written articles and the reproduction parts.... It is guys like you, among many others, that makes this board as great as it is....
  18. I'll take two Will....
  19. I hear you Bill. I am in the same situation. I would love to move mine, but then I would have to repair the hole left behind too. I may just replace the toggle with a new one. One that looks like the hazard switch.... Good luck with what you choose....

Hehe, so true. First time I have seen someone taking hours to add rust/dirt to a Z instead of trying to remove it........ It is a job well done....
  21. Bill, here is where mine (see red arrow) is mounted at the moment. I Haven't decided if I am going to move it to the center console or just keep it here and replace with a new toggle switch....

  23. That explains where my crappy switch is then. Bill must have moved it when he installed this old radio (works pretty good though and I don't have to worry about someone breaking in the rip it off) and used a toggle switch mounted on the side. The plastic on the toggle broke off though...heh..... Thanks Arne....
  24. Dave do you know where the power switch was originally located on a "72"? I have a rinky dink switch mounted on the pass. side of the console by the radio, but I would love to have one placed in it's original location. Any thoughts?.... Thanks a heep....
  25. Sorry Kurt for the temp hyjack. Your $100 Series 1 240 is a rare find. Your a lucky man. I would love to come across a find like that. Good luck with the resto.... Brandon, the E34's are great cars. I have a buddy with an E34 M5. The car will last forever if taken car of....
