  1. Guys This is to report that the backfire has been solved, now when I crank the engine there is no backfire at all , and now I having fuel problem only (I think I can handle it) I found a very stupid stupid stupid ( stupid up to the point I'd kill my self), I have the plug wires wired clockwise, rewiring them corrected the problem Thank you all guys specially Zkars and Fastwomen for there very detailed explanations
  2. Yup both lobes were pointing up (valve cover was removed) and the piston was at tdc when i looked through the plug hole and the rotor was pointing toward the radiator and perfectly lined up with dizzy cap tower # 1 I will triple check the firing order again with the cap off to confirm which way the rotor will rotate great hint
  3. Am sorry for late response since my hand has stuck between the fan shroud and a running cooling fan of a 2500 HD sliverado truck ! :dead: thats why I love zcars more any way I have read all the comments here and am grateful to you guys I think i have also a bad valve lash problem, i will try to readjust them compression is fine all cylinders have a compression between 130 and 145 psi cold thank you guys I will keep you informed about it!
  4. As i know that the distributor could not be installed 180 deg out (since there is a tooth on the dizzy's shaft that fits with oil pump shaft and this tooth is not centered so that it should fit correctly ) and regarding the TDC, I have timed Cyl 1 @ TDC on compression stroke with the valve cover is off !!!!
  5. Hi guys, am in real need for a help here this problem is a nightmare and I have done approximately every thing possible. 240z 72 L24, and 280zx 81 dizzy (gives a good spark) SU carbs ( i have cleaned them very well) it has been sitting for 3 yrs (and am working on this prob for 2 yrs shes having a very very very poor idle and a lot of crab backfire and exhaust backfiring at the same time and during cranking (Not idling) The crabs backfire like a flame thrower. The exhaust backfires like a grenade. I have tried adj the carbs but no luck, I have tried adj valve backlash but could not got em right (8/10) cold I have check the dizzy timing and it is 100% right (I even got cyl 1 at tdc and check each wire) I have used electric fuel pump to ensure enough fuel check compression all cyl 130-145 timing chain is tight Am considering replacing the engine
  6. Thanks Mr Camouflage, this is the answer am Looking for Question has been Answered
  7. Hi Folks, I have a question about the L28ET engines and please feel free to correct me if I am wrong! an L28ET engine, has an engine block F54 and cylinder head P90 with L28 stamped on the engine block, NO L28ET STAMP? AM I RIGHT ! I have read Frank's book (How to modify OHC engine) and not too much info about L28ET, What confuses me, that I have not ever seen any engine with L28ET stamped on the block! Thanks
  8. Updates: After contacting the representative, He suggested buying 4 quarts of Rust Bullet, and 2 Quarts of Blackshell (for under the car) So I ordered 5 quarts of Rust Bullet and 2 Quarts Blackshell, If someone thinks this is not enough, please say so!
  9. Thanks lbpdz, I would do that of course if the supplier is in my country, but in my case the supplier is located in India and honestly I did not try asking him about the quantity, but I will give it and email him!
  10. Hey guys, Am planning to use Rust bullet on my entire 240z, that would include the interior, exterios, under the hood and under the car, possibly every where will be covered with rust bullet ,primed then top coated, so here is the question, "How many Quarts /or Gallons of Rust Bullet are Needed?" PS: This is one shot order, since I won't be able to order these material again (due to shipping issues) so I do not want to order huge quantity,, just enough to cover my car ! Thanks
  11. Weeks and weeks! Wow that is hard job, you have to sell it on ebay and make money out of it, your job is awesome, and you deserve the money. I just bought a good full color laminated wiring diagram (14'' X 25") for $19, and that is for my 72 zcar (loved the colored diagram) Thanks for sharing

  14. for me to avoid this issue in my next engine rebuild , "Is it recommended to use RTV sealants between the head gasket and the block?"
  15. Well I have had my Zcar shipped from the US to my home country, From my shipping experience and what i have learned, There are three ways of shipping: 1- Roll on / Roll off: this is the cheapest method, in which your car would be loaded on the vessel with other vehicles in a place looks like a parking lot, Here YoU SHOULD PAY ATTENTION, since stealing parts from shipped cars is something to be expected! Beside that RO/RO service is available in a selected seaports! 2- Full container Load: Here your car would be loaded into a container that is reserved for you only, your car would be tied down to prevent it from moving, believe me your car wont move more that 2 inchs, this expensive method (you should go for 20ft container, it is enough for car and half . 3- Less than container Load (LCL): this the cheapest method you would see if you are first time shipper, in this type you will share a 40 ft container with other customers, and this shipping costs would be shared between you, here, your car won't be shipped unless the company finds other LCL customers, so you have to wait for the other two cars that are sharing the container with you, Regarding the price, you will find it is the cheapest method, but wait, once your container arrives the destination, the port authority will charge your the handling fees based on the volume your car occupied in the shared container in addition to the price you have paid for sharing the container! these are the methods that I knew from my shipping experience, I have gone with LCL shipping, where the company quote was $1300, but in fact I have paid more $500 for the destination port! which was close to full conatier load qoute ($2050) :stupid: Important note: you should be aware of the exporting regulations, law and procedures at the destination before attempting to do so, for example, my country prohibits importing cars that are manufactured between 2005-1983. More More Important note: THIS is my personal experience only.
