Sneak peak of the 2009 370Z
Camo: Cool looking car. Being a British car guy also, it picks up some of the lines of a TVR2500, which also was a cool car.

Sneak peak of the 2009 370Z
Might offend someone, but every since they changed from the 300zx, nissan ruin the looks of the car. This 370 is no exception.

I am looking for a color chart of orignial colors for 280ZX. I can find one for the 240-280, but does not include the ZX. Anyone know of someplace I can find this info?

Attention Deficit Disorder
Funny you said you just bought a TR6. I have two of them and just recently got back into Zs. I bought a 72 and am looking for an 82-83 for a daily driver. I forgot how much fun the Z is and am selling one of my TR6, Z is more fun. Still restoring a 71 TR6, which I will keep, but the Z, even though built the same time, is so far superior.

Engine compression low??
I have a follow up on this question. I am looking at a 82 ZX, has only 60,000 miles. (non-turbo). Should I be getting around 185 psi? I know the later engines had a lower ration, but not sure what I should be looking for for a strong engine. Also, may be confused with terms, but what do you mean lift the slides??????

Daily Driver
I am also interested in more of a daily driver. I have a 72 240 (along with TR6), neither car I really care about driving 75 miles a day in the heat with a coat and tie. I am thinking of the 280ZX since they do have more creature comforts. I have owned 2- 240z, a 260z and a 280Z but never a 280Zx and no nothing of their reliability. I assume stay away from the automatics? Plus, should I look for a turbo or non-turbo? 2+2 good, bad, (I don't really need the back seat). Is there a good year 1980? Is there a bad year 1979? What sort of high mileage should I be aware of? (stay away from cars with 100,000+. I would like to buy a nice one and don't mind spending $8,000 if it is low mileage. I don't want another car to work on, have too many now and doing a frame off restoration on a 70 TR6. I also have a real car to drive daily (Subaru Outback, not too exciting). Thanks for the info,

Did you polish and then powercoat, or is that just red and black paint paint. What's the scoop. Looks awesome

Determining how car was equipped from factory
Is there any way to determine using the VIN to determine how the car was equipped from the factory? I own British cars also and I can still purchase an certificate stating exactly the color and options that were available from the factory and am hoping a similar service is available. Thanks, Tom

How good are Sk Carbs
I am looking to buy a 240Z that has triple SK carbs. I have owned cars with webers and Solex, but am not familar with SK. Are these decent carbs and can parts and jsts still be found for them? Is there an available technical manual on them? I didn't have much luck finding info on the web except that they are not available in the US anymore. Thanks Tom

VIN Decoding
Mat: Thanks for the clue to the zhome.com page. Actually I looked through about half the pages and kept seeing the same info, I even saw this site and looked, but couldn't it. This time I did. Our Triumph Club has a forum too and I realize not to post without doing a lot of searching, but the search features on this site is like our site, not the best in the world, I searched the forum quite a bit before I posted. I do have a questions, I did try to search for sometime for, but couldn't find an answer, is there any records as to how 240Z are still on the road?

VIN Decoding
I haven't read every post in here so excuse me if I duplicate a questions. I have several TR6s I am restoring and looking to get back into Zs (have owned 4 in my lifetime). What I was looking for is there a list that shows what VIN numbers cover each year, such as 1970 covers 1-16000 and 1971 covers 16001-75,000, etc so I can tell exactly what year and when the vehicle was made. Thanks for any assistance.
