  1. Buy a new sending unit. THey are relatively cheap and may help you out. MIne was nearing Zero with my original 37 year old gage. WHen I replaced it, I was reading about 20 psi at idle. THE sending units go bad after a while, its a common problem.
  2. Just an update.. I had to replace my inner shift boot since mine was torn, now I am in the process of putting the thing back together. One questions though. ..Who thought it would be a good idea to sqeeze the fuse box through the tiny slit in the front of the console? Geeze! I also have managed to drop a tiny black screw somewhere on my black floormats on my black carpet. What fun! On a happy note, my choke mechanisms appear to be brand spanking new! Shy cad plated and everything.
  3. Same thing happened to me... I just got use to it. the poly tightens things up nicely.
  4. wow, just wow, great history there. Glad I picked up an ASNA before they were all gone. But a great story none the less. My fall back was going to be the Monza, but thats no more.
  5. So let me understand... it makes the hissing sound even when the car is not running, just with the power on. If thats the case, it sounds like you have a leak somewhere in the fuel system. I think 280Z's have an electric fuel pump. Normally a hissing would be attributed to a vacuum leak, but if the engine is not running, thats a tough one.
  6. Thanks for the clarification guys. I forgot to mention that. The only problem with going at it from the underside is shifter would spin when I turned the nut. And I had no way to grab the shifter hard enough to break the nut lose. From the inside, you can clamp down on the shifter. I also had my exhaust routed deep inside my driveshaft tunnel, so it was a bit in the way as well. Removing the center console was childsplay for my particular application.
  7. Just thought I would update on my zeds progress. I decided to install the shifter bushings I had ordered almost a year ago. Well, what I learned is its FAR easier to do this from inside the car, than underneath. So for anybody who is looking to do this, its a piece of cake. I found out that I was missing some compression washers on top of my rubber bushings, and thats why my shifter was spinning. So I fabricated some and now my shifter not only feels more 'gated' but it no longer spins!!!!
  8. You are correct, its suppose to be .20mm... on the intake and .25mm on the exhaust. Although I have always preferred a hot lash. I think it yields better results.
  9. This looks just awesome! I may have a weekend project soon.
  10. Thanks so very much.. I am in fact in love with those wheels in that vid! Are those Konigs?
  11. Good question.. depending on how much you want to pay, you can get a nice european curved dizzy from MSA for a reasonable price.
  12. I can respect that beandip! We all like different ice cream
  13. Dang, I just updated that.. How about I wait until I get something else done...Not sure what that would be though?
  14. I know its been beat to death, but after you do everything on Z trains list, try adding some 'redline water wetter'. I have used it on three different vehicles, and on all three, I have noticed a double digit difference.
  15. This is just achingly beautiful... really its mindboggling how pristine everything... You sir, have me green with envy
  16. Thanks guys, I love the new look, and I can finally get Arne off my back! haha RIF, check your personal messages.
  17. To each his own. I am still 'finding' myself and what direction I want to take my car. THe longer I have it and drive it, I lean more an more to a more stock look. I love the stock car. I do not think the clears looked bad, but in my eyes, the character of the car is surfacing!
  18. Thats hard to say. If it really bugs you, do a quick valve lash. Its easy insurance. If it persists, I would start with a compression check.
  19. Yeah, thats one of the fixes talked about in that sticky linkage thread, right? I think the advice is to use a 280Z linkage rod, as its longer. I still need to find one though...
  20. This is very good to know!! Thanks for the review!
