welcome home soldier! As a former military kid whose dad was always stationed away. It is good to have you back on our shores. HOpe your Z make those days spent over there fade away. I am still planning this guys... MY latest idea is to rent a uhaul to bring my car up there on a car carrier. Why you ask? Well with all these Z's there is bound to be somebody whose cars has an issue. Small or big. If I rent a truck we can leave it at the B&B and use it as a rescue vehicle so we do not have to rely on Cleatus and his ilk to come by and ruin a great Z car. Does anybody else think this is a good idea?

THis will be on public roads, so I think it will be governed as to how fast we will be going. Think sight seeing rally and fun driving rally, not competition rally. That is a whole other ball of complicated to plan out. I will keep working and we will get this going.

Well guys, I have scoured the internet and found a few road rallies done by some Subaru friends of mine around Austin. It is a bunch of roads set up around a large lake. they have routes mapped out and distances, that cover some beautiful hill country with great twisties. I was thinking of a B&B along the lake and then make a weekend of it driving around, eating good food, and draining a few beers. I will try to post a link of the map... http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Spicewood+Springs+Rd&daddr=Spicewood+Springs+Rd+to:N+Capital+of+Texas+Hwy+to:FM-2222%2FRanch+Rd+2222%2FRM-2222+to:N+FM-620%2FRanch+Rd+620+N%2FRM-620+N+to:Lime+Creek+Rd+to:Lime+Creek+Rd+to:Bullick+Hollow+Rd+to:N+FM-620%2FRanch+Rd+620+N%2FRM-620+N+to:Ranch+Rd+620+S%2FRM-620+S+to:Bee+Cave+Rd%2FRM-2244+to:Westlake+Dr+to:Westlake+Dr+to:Cedar+St+to:FM-2222%2FRanch+Rd+2222%2FRM-2222+to:Mount+Bonnell+Rd+to:30.337917,-97.776089+to:Northland+Dr%2FRM-2222&geocode=FQlj0AEddCQs-g%3BFcAT0AEd4sor-g%3BFQiazwEd0iAs-g%3BFTHszwEdpN4q-g%3BFTy10AEdmkor-g%3BFUg00QEdBbQq-g%3BFc3G0AEdquwp-g%3BFbR30AEd-pEq-g%3BFWvHzwEd2qAq-g%3BFYB4zgEd8Hgp-g%3BFQJHzgEdfEAr-g%3BFe0PzgEdco8r-g%3BFfmSzgEdpv4r-g%3BFZD7zgEdwo4r-g%3BFYz4zgEdIgMs-g%3BFTipzgEdMhss-g%3B%3BFajmzgEdoFws-g&hl=en&gl=us&mra=dpe&mrcr=14&mrsp=16&sz=13&via=1,16&sll=30.337028,-97.746735&sspn=0.070522,0.153809&ie=UTF8&ll=30.427213,-97.78553&spn=0.070457,0.153809&z=13&iwloc=11966271423292923766

Question on the Position of front tires in the wheel well
Well okay, seems I should leave it alone then.. Like I said, the car drives beautifully, and around the track it felt fantastic. NO complaints. As for what percent tint I have Oiluj, I am not sure. They were tinted when I got it, but I want to get it done over on the side windows. NO way I am puling the tint off my rear defroster while it is still working...It is rather dark though. When I do it again, I will probably go far less extreme.

I have a left lower front valance in my cabinet (or is it right lower front valance) that needs some sanding and painting, but your welcome to have it. I will send you pictures if you send me an email address.

Question on the Position of front tires in the wheel well
We have all had the conversation on what tires fit what cars. Things like if the car is lowered, what size rims are on the car, etc all make a difference. I was wondering if the position of the front tires in the wheel well has any affect on this. Take for instance my car... You notice the front wheels are pushed to the front of the wheel well. I would think this is adjustable with the TC control rods. But I have noticed that some of the 240Zs on this website have the wheels dead center in the wheel well. Both my wheels are equally like this, and I know it has never been severely wrecked. Is this normal? Or should I take another look at my TC rods to see if I have them adjusted properly. By the way, car drives great and handles wonderfully. It does not pull to the right or left when accelerating or braking. There is no vibration at any time up to 100 mph. In a nutshell, the car drives like a new car. I would hate to mess with anything when it is tracking so perfectly. But this seems too far forward to me?

We should plan to make an event sometime when the weather gets colder. Around the hill country of Austin or so. Beautiful roads, great food and drink. Great B&B's all over the place. We should make it official. Lets officially start the GREAT Z road rally 2011. WE can make a map and plan a route. I will volunteer to start planning this. I will pick some windowns down friendly weather. Good cars, good food and good people. I am all for this. I read about all the BLUEGRASS 1000 CALIFORNIA TARGA All of these costs several thousands of dollars. I say we do this and make it a reality. If you guys want me to start a new thread I will. I will call it Z GREAT TEXAZ road rally 2011 Who is game?

Pixar loves us
Why is the 240 look like he is squinting? All the other cars are wide eyed. I wonder what the animators are getting at. they seldom do anything by accident.

240Z brake booster
D, I just ran this check. You will need a vacuum gage. I thought my brakes were fine for 3 years until I did the test in the factory service manual. I posted up my entire rebuild story. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?40535-Brake-Booster-Checkout&highlight=brake+booster Check out my thread here for a review...

konig opal wheels or panasport????
For me it would be panasports or rewinds hands down. I agree with Arne that the opals are just too modern or maybe even busy for the lines of a 240z. But at the end of the day buy what you like and be happy. Good Luck

Pixar loves us
Just took my 3 year old to see his first movie in the theaters. IT was CARS 2. Not going to comment much on the movie, but I counted NO LESS than 3 maybe 4 240Z'sin that movie. Seems the folks at Pixar like us.

goodbye
I have had this RT mount ready to install for 2 years, but still have not done it. You guys are making it hard not to start a new project. I have been eyeing that new strap at MSA just to keep her original. But this seems very tried and true

215 is WAAAY to narrow a tire for a 9.5" rim for a proper fit.
