  1. I think I just got caught up in the moment with all the suggestions for tires.. umm... .sorry...
  2. Before I can recommend tires, A subject near and dear to my heart. I have to ask you what is your driving with your Z like. It is sunday cruises? Is it track days? Do you drive it in the rain? How hard do you drive normally? Do you care about comfort? All of these is critical before I can recommend a tire.
  3. I just want to go on record as saluting you for 'doing it right'. I am still an old fashioned believer that you get what you pay for. I think the price conedodger paid is actually quite good for that type of labor and service. I think the results speak for them self. When it comes time to rebuild my calipers, they will be coming your say sir...Some things are worth the money, and brakes are generally for me a no expense spared part.
  4. This is a great thread! Keep up the good work. Seems like you are doing everything the right way!
  5. Glad to hear it, and I have to agree. I completely redid my brake system and the brakes kick in HARD. I put a good modern pad on them and I have yet to have any need for more stopping power than my 150 HP engine can make a need for. I guess to some more is better, but for a street driven car, the stock brakes when working well, are darn good.
  6. They really do, can we have a side picture. I am still leaning this way! Bravo. by the way, I had to go down a size on my tires because I rubbed as well when backing up and turning. I ended up with a 195/60/15. But I could have run a 205/55/15.
  7. Must BUY These NOW!! Rota get the lead out!!!!!
  8. That is the setup I have been seriously considering. Please post pics once you get em on!
  9. Joker, I have told you before, but I completely fall in love with that black car every time I see it! Bravo. Remind me again, are those 15's or 16's.
  10. That is such a noble jesture JLPurcell, you are a giver,
  11. I am ready to make my purchase next month. I am looking to replace the panasports with a rim wth a darker center section. I love the koing rewings in a 16x7 much the same way Frank has them on his 1970 Z. but I am also craving the VTO replicas that are suppose to come out in a matt dark silver that the folks at VTO say are coming. What is the best place to purchase the konigs online? Anybody have any advice. Is MSA the end all be all for Konig prices? Also, the VTO's are not widely available either. One thing I know, is in June, my Z is going to have some new shoes. Anybody want to buy some silver 15x7 panasports?
  12. Arne, if you have higher resolution of that pic, I would love it. I turned a nice pick of a race track in to a 4 foot by 6 foot wall mural at fathead.com. I wanted that pick above, but needed it in something over 6mb. Do you have a high res photo like that?
  13. Just wanted to let everybody know the CLR trick worked famously. It also cleaned up every last bit of 40 year old grime on the squirters as well
  14. The CLR idea is great, I will try that. I do not have any mig wire, but I work with two guitar buffs, so I will hit them up for some B string. Thanks very much. I have them off of the car now soaking in some degreaser. For whatever that will do.
  15. Perhaps. But the metal looks untouched. If I had to bet, I would say it was a replacement fender that just does not fit 100% perfect. But that is only a guess.
  16. I cleaned my windshield washer tank AND put a brand new motor in it, and it pumps like the ****ens. BUT my windshield wiper squirters are just plain clogged. I do no have a needle small enough to sick in there. Any advice? Boiling them maybe. Does anybody sell them?
  17. Bolts came off fine. I am in pretty good shape there. However, It appears that this fender was removed before. I know the car was repainted about 15 years ago. The hood alignment rubbers on the fender facing the engine bay were about 1/2" off. They apparently snapped the orignal bolt heads off where they mounted them from the factory and then decided to drill a hole next to it and put a big freaking bold on to hold it there. I think I am going to try to get some easy outs to fix that situation. ON a happy note when I pulled off my cowl panel in front of the windshield, it was surgically clean under there. Not a drop of rust, or discoloration. I am pretty impressed by this. There is some VERY light surface rust on the underside of the cowl. The kind you can almost wipe all off with your fingers. I think I will POR the whole underside and then not worry about it any more. The fender is 50% better now. I was able to get it aligned much better, but the bottom of the panel, I mean the absolute bottom looks like it just needs to be curved more. if I had the panel off, I could probably bend it easy enough. But that will have to wait until I am done. I could get a light on the back side of the panel, and I am happy to report it is all steel and very rust free. Yippiee. I did have an issue with my windshield washer squirters, but I will start a new thread on that.
  18. I looked at my hood, and it seems to line up evenly with the front headlight scoop. I will try to losen everything up and do some wiggling this weekend. I will update as necessary.
  19. Perhaps it was silver originally and age made it turn a goldish hue. Happens often with decals.
  20. That is what I thought. I will get pics of all the corners and how the fender compares to the hood as well. Cozye, I have looked under the car and I think the metal under there is right as rain. I do not have much rust anywhere on this car that I know of. I looked it over pretty well, but your words are noted and saved in my mind. I will get some better pictures of the area and see what I can see. THANKS very much to all of you for your wisdom on this.
  21. That is a great long weekend of work Robin. Please let us know how this goes, and I think together we can all fix this. Glad to help somebody overseas. Your English is fantastic!!! Good for you knowing more than one language!
  22. Just one question, what is the cow top grill. Are you referring to the cowl grill where the windshield wipers stick out?
  23. Okay, great advice, I will check all my gaps to see if there is any play room. Then I will report back. The passenger side is perfect. So is every other body gap. Well perfect is a strong word, it is rather stock looking. I will give your words a day to soak in. I will get my body manual to see where the front fender attaches to the unibody and go from there.
  24. I have been wanting to fix this since I bought the car. Not sure why it is out of alignment. Perhaps shady assembly when it was repainted 20 years ago, maybe a fix from a fender bender did not go well. But I would like a stab at fixing this. Any advice? THe front fender just barely is on top of that door finisher piece. I wonder if this is just alignment issues, or if this is a sign things were not properly assembled years ago. Either way, I want this to be fixed. Now it may mean I will have to wait until I repaint it. I currently do not see any way to adjust that body panel.
