  1. Rich, thanks for taking the time to respond sir. I appreciate it and I forsee some heavy duty hammer work in my very near future. Mine is not quite as bad as the ones shown but they could use some love.
  2. This thread is getting me all hot and bothered. Siteunseen, the pic of that orange car with black front and rear spoilers with the black sticker on the side is giving me a warm fuzzy feeling. I may want to try that look. It just seems to fit the car while highlighting its natural body lines. I have some floorboards that look like the ones show here and always wondered how I could get them back to the right shape. This 2x4 idea is just a great idea to try. Seems like their is no down side to trying. motorman7, how did you get the dents out of the square channel? It is covered up from the inside? Is that the slide hammer job you mentioned?
  3. Website updated again folks, My opinions on Patina... I sort of put this with barn finds, but have a read if you like ...
  4. Okay I absolutely MUST have that tool to measure the fuel levels! I love it. I am using the Keith Franke tool which looks so plebian compared that that lovely blue anodized jewel! I forget what the measurement was on mine, but 29mm sounds about right if I am honest. I get good Fuel levels and mixtures. I run F9 Emulsions and 55F9's idle jets. I use Hypojets main jets and I have to look on my air correctors, but 170ish sounds close. . I think I use the second to the smallest hole on the hypo jet. I am running 151 DCOE 40s' with 30mm chokes. I think the DCOE came with 28mm chokes if I recall. Been a while since I had them off.
  5. WEBSITE UPDATED! Added an article on what I called the automotive RAT PACK.. have a read. Also have a great historical 'little known fact' coming. heyitsrama, I literally have no idea how to do what you ask! I had to use the ehost web builder to make this. I will see if their is an option about making https enabled. I can work on the all available posts thing. Can you give me an example site to look at.
  6. OH and thanks to all of you for taking the time to have a look! I will try to add more weekly.
  7. I admit I am a sucker for messing up their/there. It is not that I do not know the basics of it. The problem is that when I write either of them, I just scream past and think to myself, "hope that was right!" I will try harder.
  8. Way to go, you should be very proud of your effort. Just take your time and enjoy the process. Try to make a list of things you feel you absolutely must do and things you just would like to do, and then a list of things that would be nice, but you do not need to do. Keep in mind how the car will be used? Be honest and enjoy the project. Do not let the 'while I am here' get out of control.
  9. At the permission of our board owners, I would like to invite all of my classic Z car family to read and enjoy my new website. It has been a work in progress for a good while and their will be a great many Z related articles (in fact I am writing one right now). I have an opinion page that I add content to every week when possible as well as a small photo gallery that will grow exponentially soon. I have articles on barn finds and how to buy your first vintage car. Please with the permission of the owner of this website, I think it will be an enjoyable book mark for some www.testdrivemylife.com Let me know your opinions about browsing and organization. I have tried to catch all the typos, but Lord knows, when I write words flow faster than my fingers can keep up. Thanks I look forward to the feed back.
  10. Your car has always been something I just stop and stare at. Every. Single. Time
  11. I have not even put on my new rear spoiler. I did take some plastidip and painted the rear spoiler on the car now. It was okay, but the color was off. I was thinking of doing a summer of the race car look, with a wrapped rear spoiler a wrapped hood and some of those nice flat black Koenigs sold by MSA. But not sure now. The car is so clean in the silver. I am now sort of thinking about starting to save for a new coat of paint next year. It is really my cars weakest link. The paint is 5 foot functional, but I would love to see it really shine. I keep pics of all your cars saved Guy! Thanks for the inspiration.
  12. I love stories like this... Bravo to both of you.
  13. Wow guy that is incredible the white really pops standing ovation...you have me strongly considering 16" wheels
  14. Your memory is amazing. Yes, I bought my Z transmission through them. They were very good about helping me after the sale as well.
  15. What size panasports are you running? Love the euro front lip as well. Well we call it a euro lip here in the states.. Guess to you it is just a lip... I will be quiet now
  16. Lets cut to the chase, you build as supremely beautiful car, and for that I stand at attention and salute you sir. But now the time has come to market it and sell it. I watch BAT with daily regularity. A Z car just sold for 27k and it was not as nice as yours, but it was a 240Z, and inherently they get more money than a 280Z. So what to do. I like BAT, I think that when the planets align you get great results. They have had a GLUT of POrsches lately and I see the early Z's taking off to follow them. People who cannot catch the 911 bubble can catch a Z, and you get a better car to boot. I say give BAT a try.
  17. what I would give for a set of those headlight covers.
  18. such beautiful pictures and roads. Your car was the class of the field bud. Love how the red pops against the backdrop of what mother nature can create. And Arne, it is great to hear from you. I have come very close to taking the P car plunge many times. But the Porsche bubble is rising faster than I can catch.
  19. Glamor shots of the Z. I was playing with some LED lights in the cabin and snapping some pics As promised, some photos of the center console
  20. I will get her out in the sun and snap a photo of the center console, when I get a chance sir. I will be happy to. I need recent pic anyway, so it is about time I get that done
  21. black with orange stitching will look amazing. Please post pics when you get them in and on!
  22. Cal buddy, I wish I did have an encyclopedic knowledge of the subject, but I certainly do not. I would wager that the seats frames would be very similar between the 240 and 260, but not sure about the 280. THe good captain here has some valid points. I would look on ebay for some Z seats. All you need is the frame and rails. You can order foam and covers from many places. I would take your time though and budget some cash for the job. I wager to source the frames, rails covers and seats and have them done at good shop, you are looking at 1000 dollars. If you do the upholstery work yourself, about 500. They add up, but think of it this way. You have to touch those seats every single time. WHen people look in your car they are one of the biggest things seen. Investing in seats and good carpet really jazz of a classic car and make it a nice place to be.
  23. Final photo of the seats in the car! I am very pleased. I also took the time to refinish my center console, and tried my hand at some fiberglass work to strengthen it and repair a crack. Not bad for my first go. I should have picked up some of that SEM texturizer to where I filled the tiny crack and sanded it smooth. But I can do that next time I have it off. Car looks and feels fresh and new again.
  24. Oops I can see that now He charged me 400 bucks to remove my old seats covers and put new foam on and install new seat covers. He reinforced the springs and painted all the hardware black. I don't really feel that is outrageous as it probably took hm a couple of hours per seat Only took him one full day so I could have probably done it but just do not have any time anymore it seems. Anyway happy with the results
