  1. That was the sound and look I was going for with my ANSA. In fact it was this video that inspired me to buy it... 1971 240Z with vintage ANSA dual tip muffler insta

hard to say. Just by looking at it, I would not put any stock in that comparison. But can you bounce the car. The old bounce trick will tell you something. Get it bouncing and then stop, and it should stop immediately. If it does, then the shocks still have some damping left in them.
  3. Houston Texas, SRBIGBUTT, we should get together and have lunch or something.. where in Houston are you?
  4. Agreed on pinks all out. Pinks just annoys me as well. The best liar wins that one. I miss rally so very badly. I cant stand the host on passtime. He just gets under my skin for some reason.
  5. Agreed, but I have to interject.. isnt that the worst show ever on speed. As if NASCAR was not bad enough, and unique whips, now passtime? Man, how the mighty have fallen.
  6. I am convinced that Vince there is on something. He is just a little off. Now Billy Mayes, he is the real deal! haha

Awesome work so far, but I was just thinking, I am glad I am not your neighbor! hahahaha

Personally I would polish them. Those may look odd black. Just my 2 cents, its your car so by all means, have fun with it.
  9. wow, thats awesome... the only thing I would change is go to some brushed darker rims and get rid of the chrome look. Other than that, I love it!
  10. Mr. Perry came through as he is a man of his word. I also received an update from bad dog parts that they are sending me a new front valance. There is also a chance that dk240z and I may do some trading parts. Either way, my front valance is going to be installed hopefully within the month. Cant wait to get 'spooked'

Good for you. My background is very similar. I have always loved the Z's. A 78 280z is a great car. I wish you lots of joy working on her and even more driving her.
  12. Its on my to due list... they ended up not being shipped yet.
  13. I thought you meant wall posters... sorry.. I going to leave now.

My heart goes out to you. I do not have this problem, but have had a chronic pain episode for a while. Its debilitating. Stay relaxed and heal up!
  15. Went to ship my rims yesterday and was getting the weighed. I was shocked at how light they were. 13.87 lbs. That's a fairly light wheel.
  16. Thanks so much! I sincerely appreciate it!
  17. Rota has become a staple in import wheels. They are usually knock offs of an original design. In this case its Panasports or Minilites. In the subaru world they copy Works, Volks, Prodrive's, etc. Many people have used them for all sorts of things, and for the most part, they are good wheels. They do not crack easily, the finish lasts, and they are reasonably light. I say go for it.
  18. hogie, I have not forgot about you. Just been busy with mission support at work.
  19. If you did not have the Z to obsess over, what car would it be? 911? BMW? Jag? I have always fancied one of these.. The only problem is price to get into and parts, but the car is achingly beautiful
  20. Hey, no need to hurry. Lets not forget your doing me a favor. Take your time and when you have time, its fine. You will never catch me getting impatient when somebody trying to help me out.
  21. UPDATE: I just received my MSA spook air dam. I can say that I am pretty satisfied with it. The mold is free of defects and the edges are clean and crack free. It looks to be quite thick and should hold up well. Pics to follow.
  22. PMed you dk240z
  23. Also get some literature. The key to success on any automotive project is knowledge. Finding this board is a huge step in the right direction. If you send me your email address, I will send you ALL the Factory Service manual for a 72, which have worked wonderfully for my 71, and should help you in 95% of your cases. Read read read. Get the book on Amazon, how to rebuild your Z car. Its great writing and very clear. It will give you a working vocabulary for these cars. And when it comes to asking questions, it will give you the needed background to really get the correct answers you need. Make a notebook of all your thoughts plans and ideas. Use it to keep a record of the work you have done and work you plan to do. Put photos in it, print things out and tape it in the book. It will become a valuable tool the more you use it. Put everything in it. Websites, local business phone numbers, notes on the quality of service you received. The notebook will be invaluable when it comes time to perform work and you have a healthy database of vendors, part numbers, costs. Keep it next to the computer when you are on this website, and when a tastey tidbit comes up, as it ALWAYS does, capture it by printing and taping it into the notebook. The knowledge on this website is not found anywhere else in the world. My notebook is growing every day. I keep updating it weekly. There is no substitute for knowledge and patience with a Z car. Its always better to take your time and do it right, rather than to do it twice. These cars are wonderfully engineered and for the most part easy to work on. I wish you luck with your car, and never hesitate to ask questions here. I have learned more from this website than anything else.
