I have a leaking freeze plug under my header. I think more than one is leaking. For the longest time I was baffled. Maybe that's it.

DCOE 40 Idle mixture screws are stuck/broken off HELP!!!!!!
JIm, I tried pushing it back thru to no avail. Solution found: I was referred to a local machine shop. They have an acid that eats steel/brass, but not aluminum. Can't remember what it's called. It worked. New mixture screws on the way from Pegasus racing, who, I'll add, has excellent customer service! Machine shops were rightly concerned that attempting to drill out the metal would result in the drill bit 'walking' and drilling into the softer aluminum carburetor body. Acid, followed by an acid neutralizer worked perfectly. Thanks for the response, Jim.

DCOE 40 Idle mixture screws are stuck/broken off HELP!!!!!!
I have a set of very slightly used triples on my Z. I discovered while trying to adjust the idle mixture screws, that the very tips of 4 of these have seated themselves in the body of the carbs, and have broken off. It appears that the PO might have overtightened them. I am able to completely remove all of the screws. It is the tips (about the diameter of a paper clip) that are stuck. My attempts to remove them have proven unsuccessful. If I play with them anymore, I fear I will do damage. Does anyone have experience with this? If needed, I'll ship them off to a pro. Thanks for your help!

A little Eibaching help please...
Arne, Thanks. I felt somewhat confident with what had been written in this thread. Then I saw GREENZZ pic on post #21. It looks like he has the front springs installed in the back. Someone else had theirs in what I thought was an upsidedown postition. You advised me on my wheel and tire combo over a year ago. Thanks for that, too. Adamr

A little Eibaching help please...
Ok, I've searched this forum quite a bit, and cannot seem to get the "definitive" answer as to whether or not I installed my springs properly. I installed the shorter, more tightly wound springs on the front of the car. Also, more tightly wound end of these springs is positioned towart the top of the assembly. I sure hope this is correct. Also, the car doesn't sit any lower yet. BTW, it has been on jack stands for 3 months, waiting for me to finish. Having a child, my first, has put everything on hold. IF the springs are indeed installed correctly, will the ride height settle a bit? Thanks, Adamr

3.54 rear end which tranny Z or ZX..
What was the purpose of switching to a R200 3.54? Seems like a lot of weight gain. I would think that it provides lilttle to no acceleration as is. I'm a fan of the later ZX 5spd with my 3.90 R200. I'm no expert (disclaimer). and probably not much help, either. adamr

4:11 vs 3:90 diff which one better on street n freeway?
I have done the later 5spd and 3.90 in a '76 and my '70. The second to third gear shift is soo much nicer. The car is fine on the highway. This tranny and diff were designed to go together to move a ZX which gained a lot of weight over the years since it's birth as a 240z. It isn't radical, and is a great performance upgrade. Plan on new Ujoints and bushings while you are in there. Adamr

What do you guys think, new 2+2 shell, need some advice from seasoned users
Ok, I hope my tone didn't sound shi@@y. I didn't mean it like that at all. If I could do the metal work, I suppose my perspective on rust would be quite different. Best of luck!!, Adamr

Keep looking. What are you really purchasing here? There is little to no good sheet metal, and you have no drive train. Plus, it's a 2+2. I wouldn't let someone give me that car. It's gonna cost you $6000 just to make it a $2000 car. Yes, I see where you live. Start off with a better car! 2 cents, Adamr
