Full faced dash cap from MSA. Cheap, good looking, and at your front door in a week. Done. Just my 2 cents. Adamr

Educate the youth;). The Z deserves respect for many reasons. Here are a few: 1. For the money, there was nothing that could touch it; it outperformed many cars that cost much more. 2. It was the first really good looking, performance oriented Japanese sports car. It started it all. Without the Z, there would be no RX-7, Celica, Supra, Civic Si, Prelude, Mitsubishi Eclipse, WRX, etc. 3. The 240Z basically put an end to the European sports car market in the 70s. Better looks, performance, reliability, and more technology for less money. 3. Its design is timeless. 4. The Z will capture the heart of its owner in little to no time. It is a driver's car. There are many cars to fall in love with. A case can be made for each. For now, all I can say is that I love Zs:love:, and always will. The rest of the members can add to this incomplete "respect" list.

Not only is the Z better looking than most cars, it is easily more fun to drive as well. I drive mine like I stole it, and am not concerned when it's gonna leave me stranded. Keep in mind, I am totally biased! Adamr

What's it called and where can I get it? !!!!! Thanks, Adamr
  5. Ozium! I smoked like a chimney in my Lexus for years. I finally quit. Had the car detailed, then fogged it thoroughly while leaving the A/C blowing on high (11;)). Get out of the car immediately after spraying. Let it circulate for 5 minutes, windows rolled up, of course. Then, air it out. It will smell like Ozium for the rest of the day, and part of the next. Should smell fine after that. I have done this many times. Yes, that means I have quit smoking many times. I hope this time is different. Either way, my car smells great.

  7. You beat me to it on that one... Adamr

Welcome! Got pics? When you say conversion, what are you converting? Adamr

I second what Carl says. I've done it that way. It's the easiest, best way. These seats may not sit at the height you desire. I had a set of Recaro's that sat a little high, but they were so awesome that I really didn't care. Adamr

Nice work, Keith! I expect you to contact me when it's done so I can drop by and see it! Adamr
  12. Thanks, I loved the video! Adamr
  13. Zak, Seeing your beautiful son in the engine bay of your car gave me a brilliant idea. Can I borrow your son for half an hour? I think he could better reach the fresh are vent cable up under my dash. My hands are too big to get behind my aftermarket A/C:classic:.
  14. Well, I'm sure that due to a smaller supply of cars over there, they probably pay a premium for repair and parts. As for the snobbery part, I think it was really a jealousy part: when the Z was introduced, it was faster, handled better, looked better, was more reliable and was cheaper than all the Brittish sprorts cars of the time. The Z ushered in a new era... I love MGs, Triumphs, Austin Healeys (sp?) and so on, but to me, the Z has always deserved more acclaim from non Z owners than it has received. Adamr
  15. This may be a shot in the dark, but have you checked your air flow meter?

Here are some ideas for you. Contact Zed2 on this board. He is doing a resto here in Dallas, and is very happy with his shop. Search Zed2 on this site. You will only find used hatch glass. There are, or used to be, some pick and pull parts yards off of Jefferson Ave, south of Arlington. Also, parts wanted wanted section of this forum could help you. Contact Steve at Rising Sun in Benbrook, south of Forth Worth. He has a stash of parts, and may actually be able to point you in the right direction. He is very highly regarded Z mechanic, though he doesn't do body work. Put a hatch glass wanted under datsun/ 280z on the Dallas Craigs list. Also, there is a guy on Craigslist in Burleson (see Dallas Craigslist) who is parting some Zs. MSA offers the hatch glass gaskets you will need. Let me know if there is anything else you may need from Nissan. I have access to many of their parts, and frequently can get them cheaper than you will at Nissan. Adamr

Why not? Ok, I'm kidding. I will say that some choose to stir things up, regardless of the topic. Some people are simply oppositional. Others cannot leave well enough alone. Often people cannot disagree in silence. Some seem to have very little life outside this forum. Some people are simply generous with their experience and knowledge, while others spew theirs in a self agranddizing fashion. To me, all of this is just part of the human condition. I lurk here frequently, and find that this site, as a whole, has some of the nicest, most knowlegable folks around. There is clearly some tension between some members. All I have to say is that if someone makes it personal, the best way to get his goat is to not respond;). You can do it here, and, by doing so, look like you are taking the high road, too. You give what you get. Consider this: There are some guys with A__hole tendencies on here for sure . Just be glad that you aren't married to them! I have learned to be very careful when I use this means of communication. It is easy to misinterpret typed communications. Adamr
  18. All I can say is that watching the progress of you Z build is great fun for me. I lurk on this site all the time, and have been looking forward to more pics and info. All of the goodies you have installed look so sweet. Hope you are having a great time with the build, and enjoy driving her:beer:! When do you think the car will be completed? Adamr- living vicariously:D

And why the hell would anyone want to even be on the damn phone while experiencing a Veyron? Hell, I don't even listen to my Z car radio, as the sound of my car is one of the best parts of the drive. I woke up in a cold sweat the other night after dreaming that I rear ended a Tahoe with a trailer hitch, diving under it. I cannot even conceive of this guy's bad dream :stupid::mad: Wonder if his rate is going to go up?

Ah, the quest for another Z. Fun!! Things to consider: How much rust can you live with- they all have some? Check the bottom perimeter of the car, hatch, and the floorboards. Does it start? Has he gone into detail about what it needs to be roadworthy. How long has it been since it ran? Consider your costs of bringing it up to par, and what kind of Z you want it to become. Also, if it has the flat top carbs, don't expect much performance. The earlier ones will solve this problem. Brake rebuild Tires Battery Plugs Wires rotor Rust repair/body work and paint Shocks Bushings Misc interior Alignment Carb rebuild or adjustment Clutch, and hydrolics U joints Etc. Not to scare you off, just good to plan. The car is 37 years old. Best of luck, and keep us posted. Pics? Adamr
  21. Thanks! Anyone else got a tip? Adamr

And don't worry too much. Most of them have rust, and few are perfect.

Welcome to the best site for Zs. Everything you will need can be found here. Make it safe first, and then enjoy the ride. Look into a local Z a holic meeting:). You may need it;)! Adamr
  25. I am wondering if anyone has experience with a quality leather/leather like steering wheel cover/wrap. I'm looking for one that would be sewn/hand stitched. My wheel is finally starting to disintegrate a bit:mad:. It's for my 99 Lexus GS300, which just turned 155,000 miles. BTW, I've only had to spend $600 on non-wear repairs so far! This car really is bulletproof:love:. Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated! Adamr
