Trying to identify original 240Z keys?
I purchased those keys. I'm pretty sure that they are repros. I havent cut them yet. Not bad, unless you need concours keys. Mine car is a nice driver (11/70), and I am less concerned with absolute perfection. Adamr

24 months of intensive restoration, and I'm almost done.
Thanks for the welcome! Which is the C pillar? The joint between quarter panel and decklid? Above the quarter window, where the rear quarter and the roof meet. I want to do mine right, and thought probably had some advice on that part of the car. I'd hate to crack that rather fragile part of the car after I redo it. Thanks, and, keep the pics a comin'! Uh, WOW!!!! You are building my dream Z. In a current thread, we have been discussing C pillar cracking. I am curious what you are you doing to avoid this? I probably speak for us all when I say that we anxiously await more news and pics of the build. Nice work:beer:. Adamr

40th Anniversary Z Video
Thanks for finding that video. I always love to see vintage Z footage. While I like the looks of the 370z, it is no where as compelling a design as the original 240z. Too bad they can't do a modern retro version of the 240z that really captures the essence of the original car:cry:. Why is it so hard to come up with a pure, flowing form? It's as if they may have started designing one, and then it went to a committe who added a clever little 'fang' here, and then to another committe who demanded yet another 'clever' detail there:sick:. And, while I'm at it, what the hell has happened to headlights and headlight covers? Maybe I'm just stuck in the past. This might be turning into a rant, but I think I'm gonna hit the "submit reply" button. Adamr

Body Twisting?
FWIW, I've had 6 S30s, 3 of them had C pillar cracking at that seam. Question: Sometime within the next 5-10 years, I'm going to spend the money and have the typical rust areas properly fixed, have the C pillar issues addressed, and then repaint the car. How should this area be properly addressed/repaired. I understand that lead was used to fill in the joint, but is there a better way to repair and or reinforce it? No roll cage for me. I'd hate to have to do it a second time. Consider how I drive and the following modifications to my car: My intentions are not to race my Z, but to enjoy spirited and often aggressive driving whenever I so desire. In my scenerio, I have a mild cam, header, bored engine (all done by PO). I also installed a 3.90 R200 w/ a later ZX 5spd. With these mods, what is the best method of repair to the C pillars. Also, would strut tower braces be good preventative medicine? Thanks, Adamr

hello gang, got a sad update :(
Sorry about the bad news. Why don't you list it on Craigslist and see what kind of responses you get. Don't sell it for less than you want. If it doesn't sell, then hopefully you can wait. It only sells if you accept the offer. You will at least learn something in the process. Best of luck. Do know that there is always another car. Who knows, maybe you sell your Z under the condition that, if the buyer decides to sell it in the future, that he gives you first right of refusal. Adamr

Silver Z/black rear bumper
I had this done to a 76 I had back in the early 90s. Sorry I don't have pics. It really did look sharp at the time. I almost did it again on another Z years later, but chose not to as I felt like it would look a bit dated. There was a period when blacked out trim was popular, and I think that time has passed. That being said, what matters is what you like, and all you are getting from me is an opinion. Either way, have fun, make it yours, and drive it like you stole it;)!! Adamr

Refurbishing heater blower
Do yourself a favor and install the 91 Civic blower motor upgrade. It bolts in and fits exactly, though you will want to paint part of the back of it black. It took no time at all, and was the easiest upgrade I have ever done. Made a huge difference in my 240z. Moves much more air!

Which is Better 280Z or ZX 5 speed?
I put in an 83 5spd with an R200 3.90 in my Series One. More involved than on later 240's (my mechanic did it- that's way over my head). I have great low end, and 3rd gear pulls like second. Car moves much faster thru all the gears. It turns well over 3000 rpms at almost 80mph if I remember correctly. I'm not much of a highway driver. I prefer the twisties, and running thru the gears around town, so it's perfect for me. texasz, great geocite link!

Advise needed.
We have all felt your pain, so take a deep breath. Remember that most of us on here also own Zs that are 30-40 years old. Many have nice paint jobs, but most have issues lurking beneath the skin, like yours. Are you a member of a local Z club? MSA generally offers club discounts. You should consider Courtesy Nissan in Dallas as well for parts. The wait time on the phone is typical. Check with a local radiator shop. If repairable, don't be suprised if they recommend re-coring it while their at it. adamr

what is the TRUE definition of "Series 1"
Good stuff. However, not all series 1 cars had the 2400-OHC valve cover;). I don't know when they changed to the NISSAN cover, though.

fan motor swap - civic to 240z
Great upgrade. I'm very happy with mine. You won't do damage if you have it wired wrong. Simply switch the wiring if it doesn't seem right, and you'll know immediately. Enjoy. It made a huge difference for me. adamr

What color wheels
So I just checked out getatrailer.com and was about to post the SAME PICTURE! It does look good. There are lots of awesome vintage Japanese cars. Worth the look if you have some time, as I do on my morning off work.

What color wheels
Consider how awesome your car looks now. I really dig what you've done. Maybe you are just bored with it? I wouldn't go with gold. To me, gold would look marginally better than, say, green or red  Needless to say, I'm kinda fond of the silvers. See left /___________________ \ -Adamr

2,800 Cubic Inches!
Not a bad kit, if you're into that kind of thing. They did kind of blow it with that color, and the cheap tail lights and 3rd brake light. I wonder what 2800 ci would feel like in a car that weighs about 2800 lbs !! Yikes
