Bigger cam?
One consideration might be to insure that your motor and carbs are performing properly. Find an expert Z mechanic (if you are not one) and make sure that your valves are adjusted properly, carbs are balaced and functioning optimally, that your compression is all good, etc. Maybe spending time and money on this might be worth more than you think. Once you KNOW that your motor is in top condition, chosing to install a cam (properly, of course) may or may not interest you. If all is good, then a new cam will probably be fantastic. FWIW, That being said, my L24 has a mild cam, installed by the previous owner, don't know all the details, unfortuately. It runs like a bat out of hell. When I pick it up from the shop tomorrow, it should run like a raped ape new clutch, rebuilt tranny-"83 5spd, 3.90 diff. I can't wait. adamr

$10,000 for a Series2, not #s Matching?
I have located an almost pristine 71. The body is acutally perfect-literally. underhood, too. No shortcuts, bondo, etc. Where there was rust, it was properly cut out. its that good. It is far and away the best body I've seen. The owner had the car done and has over 30,000 in receipts (I've seen them, too). Chrome, perfect, tires and wheels perfect. It is white with blue interior. The bad- un original issues (though there were done well). It has had the door panels redone VERY well, but not original. Has installed remote door locks and an aftermarket stereo. He has a very professionally installed amp, and had the speakers mounted in the tool compatments (yes, they were cut). Nice job. Car has 15" slots (I think MSA offered these a while back. Car was lowered. Most unfortunately, not a numbers matching. It is an adult driven and garaged Z. I am convinced that if it had the original motor, it could fetch b/w 14-18000. Maybe more. Given what little description I've given, what say you? Thanks, Adamr

Best Method for Restoring 240z Steering Wheel
The reason I thin it is so it lays down smoothly. My experience with the spray can was that it just wouldn't lay down evenly. I took the advice from my friend who has a wooden boat and is a cabinet maker. Just my experience... There are clearly a few good ways to do this project. Best of luck to you. Looking forward to seeing some pics and how you did yours. Adamr

Best Method for Restoring 240z Steering Wheel
Brush on with Spar urethane. Thin it no more than 15-20%. It will level itself out. No, there will be no brush strokes when it is dried. Paint it on in very light coats. Wait 24 hours and brush on another coat. If there are any imperfections, you can wet sand with 400-600 grit in b/w coats. I ended up applying 6-7 coats. Mine came out beautifully. Sorry I don't have any pics. FWIW

Considering Parting with my Z .......
None of my busisness, except I like many, have received much from you. Sorry to see you give someone else free rent in your head. Whether you stay or go, try to let the resentment go. It only hurts you. Well, it's hurt Classiczcar quite a bit, too. Best of luck!!

Just bought 77 280z
I probably shouldn't, but what the heck. One of the best things about getting a bit older is that I care much less about what others think of me. What is most important, is what I think about myself. Life is hell when your self concept depends on what you think others think of you;). Most people don't have the highest self esteem. And I certainly don't need to have them projecting that onto me, and then me buy it. Enough psychology. Having said that, all I can think about is the new clutch, completely rebuilt ZX tranny, and the professionally installed 3.90 rear end which is being installed into my Series One at Rising Sun Motorsports here in DFW. I can't F'ing waitLOLLOL:beer:. It also keeps me from thinking of my other favorite subject-me.

zg mirrors drilling measurements
Just an FYI, Be careful to measure twice and cut once(duh). If you look on the diagram in the the link previously provided, you'll find that measurements for each mirror are different. I point this out because a friend of mine installed these mirrors on his car, and didn't measure the passenger side differently from the drivers side. The mirrors looked great, but 1 minute into his first drive, he noticed that he couldn't even see the passenger mirror from the driver's seat:cry:. And yes, extra holes in your fender would truly suck. Once you get the bumper off, you'll see how to get the shocks off. -adamr

The next 240Z
Whatever that thing is, it's cool!

The next 240Z
I'll agree with you that the Miata design is nice. It's evolution has stayed true to the original, and the lines are good. It doesn't move me (that wasn't the original point), but does fit the criteria of the original post, although it's not "new". I forgot about the Honda S2000! Great car. Too bad it has been shelved:ogre:.

The next 240Z
True, but for me, I can get the right position. I'm 5'9", with fairly short legs. I had my seats refoamed and new strapping below. They pretty good for that era. Make note: Do not Armor All your seats!-or anything else, for that matterLOL. -adamr

did lots of reading but still.....
FWIW, I loved the sound and look of the Ansa exhaust which I had on my 76 280z. However, on long cruises down the highway, it was somewhat exhausting, pardon the pun. When I had my foot on it around town, I loved it. Something to consider... See if you can take a ride in something similar to what you want. See what it's like when cruising at 2500 to 4000 RPMS. This could influence your decision. Best of luck! -Adamr

The next 240Z
The world will never be the same as it was when the Z first hit American shores. I'm a bit off topic here, but for me, there just aren't any new car designs, except for some European exotics, that really stir my soul. The era of automobiles with beautiful design lines, which haven't been overly messaged in the corporate board room, is over. Style has become secondary to aerodynamics. Perhaps this is almost "rightly so". I went to a little local car show recently. There were E type Jags, MGs, vintage Ferarris, Morgans, Alfas, and the like. A tail light on any one of these cars has more style than almost any entire car built in the last 20 years. So where do you go for affordability, performance and trend setting good looks? I gotta go to my garage, and get into my orange time capsule. Sometimes, after I wash her, take her for a spin, park her in the garage, and go inside, I'll go back out to the garage, just to look at her again. My wife doesn't understand. Most people don't understand, and they never will. But WE do;)!
- Finish it... time to enjoy now

Are Reproduction parts a good thing or an evil thing
I have one, although the plastic toggle is somewhat faded, it works. Let me know if you are interested. You can have it for $10 plus shipping which I won't mark up, -Adamr

Parts
Courtesy either has or will get and ship many more parts than are listed on thier site. Don't be suprised to find that much of the stuff listed on Ebay by a few sellers is readily available, and cheaper at Courtesy. You may have to wait on hold for a bit. I live 5 miles from there, and get a Z club of Texas discount, so I frequently get parts for the same price as lesser quality, aftermarket parts, which I have learned to stay away from when possible.

Thanks Arne. Have I worn you out on this yet:stupid:?

opinion on rota rb 16x7
And of course, I Think those wheels look awesome!
-
opinion on rota rb 16x7
16 X7, +4's. They are better looking than I expected. Yahoo!! LOLLOLI'm excited about getting the tires and Eibach lowering springs. My concern is that, when measuring straight upward from the outside of the wheel, that "imaginary" line continues and is exactly even with the inside of the wheel well lip. This leads me to infer that a tire which is any wider than the wheel might rub:ermm:. However, as the suspension is compressed, the upward movement actually occurs on an axis, and the top rotates inward slightly:rolleyes:. Is a 215/50 tire wider than the 7" width of the wheel? I'd like to go with that, though I was originally thinking of going with 205/50s. Arne? I plan on posting pics of the car next week, before and after the springs go on.
