Why do these cars sell for so little $ ?
There are many variables when it comes to car pricing... Being Japanese is not necessarily that much an issue - have you tried to buy a Toyota 2000GT? It is Japanese, but less than 400 made and some have sold for $375,000 at auction. This is vintage Ferrari category.

Car Warriors
It is a travesty to see two perfectly nice 240z go through that butchery! This and other car shows like it are all crap. I am constantly disappointed by the fact that they make it about the people drama. I have yet to see a car show where I am actually pleased with the results. All these shows are about extremes and showing the worst in people. None of which I am interested in; otherwise, I would watch Days of our Lives or Survivor or any other show that showcases the stereotypical stupidity! HD Theater started nicely, but recently is getting more and more of these useless shows. Shows like West Coast Customs, Unique Whips, Battle of the Supercars, Pinks, etc. are an insult to true car enthusiast. I understand why they have these shows since Speed became a NASCAR only channel and I imagine they’re targeted for NASCAR fans. I only watch Goodwood festival, Top Gear (UK of course), Wheeler Dealer & What’s my car worth from time to time… I used to watch the Canadian show (can’t remember name) and that was rather ok.

Pantera look a like Rear Lid
Don't quite understand the need for this hatch. This is not a mid-engine car and it will kill whatever little luggage there is; not to mention the disturbance in airflow, which will diminish the Cd of the car. To each its own, but do consider all variables, unless this is a purely show car.

Pedegree of S30 styling?
For some of the comments I read here, it seems that the design team is still waiting to be paid for the work on the S30 - and of course they want the well-deserved recognition, even if posthumous. Yes, I understand that this topic is very important to some, but in the end, those that carry the flag of truth have also gotten their facts from someone else. For me, the only person that I believe has some solid (and by solid I mean factual) information is kats because of his dealings with Mr. Tamura – kat’s threads also make for very interesting reading. But even then, I don't care to solve the mystery. I just keep it simple… I drive a Japanese sports GT built by Nissan under the Datsun brand. Oh, and I have nothing against Japanese designers, or the S30 chassis being a Japanese design - I am perfectly fine; even when I thought the Z car was designed by Mr. K (Yutaka Katayama). But I digress – I will leave the “people talk†for those interested in reality internet… I’ll just keep to the car topics, which is the reason I am here. FastWoman – my apologies for derailing the thread – was not my intention.

Are there any 15x7 Steel Wheel Options?
Thank you, Arne - I thought about the 240SX steelies in 4x4.5", but the offset would be all wrong and they don't look good at all. Thanks, John! For some reason, I get the chills when I hear the word Nascar associated with anything I would drive. But that is just a phobia I have learned to deal with. I’ll have a look a their site and see if they have something interesting… I did do some additional research and found a site that would either make some of widen the stock 14†in a 15x7: http://www.stocktonwheel.com/wheel_widening.htm interesting site and prices are not bad… Cheers, Marco

Are there any 15x7 Steel Wheel Options?
Hello, I'm really looking for that vintage raw/race look on my 280z and I want to go with steel wheels on 15x7 wearing 205-60-15 tires. I have not seen a stock set of these with the lug patern for the z - does anyone know of any wheels like this? Ideally, I would love to use a set late 60s Alfa Romeo 1750, but the lug pattern is different. Thanks, Marco

Pedegree of S30 styling?
None taken - thank you for the clarification/correction, but honestly, I'm not keen in either being right or convincing anyone - I am just expressing my opinion in terms of the actual design and what I know about the S30. I find it interesting that people take this "who created what and when" so seriously. What counts for me is that the car was actually designed, not who did it. I'd be more than happy if papa smurf designed the S30; and by the looks of things, that may just be the answer everyone is after. Don't mean to be an jerk about it, so no offense intended! I do promise not to use the name Goertz in relation with the S30 or 2000GT. Cheers, Marco

Pedegree of S30 styling?
It has been said that all car designs were inspired by something else; be it a body, a shape or just another car. I believe this to be true and so this does apply to the S30 design as well. Based on some facts, it seems that Goertz and Yamaha had a lot to do with this car's inception, but then again, Yamaha has had a huge influence in Japanese performance cars (not including their own motorcycle lines). What strikes me as more influential or important as a premise is the idea that both of the most iconic cars from Japan (Z and 2000GT) had the same origin or at least initiated from the same original sketch. It seems that the original design (by Goertz) was initially abandoned by Nissan; which Yamaha then took to Toyota and then became the 2000GT. Nissan of course retook the project a couple of year later and the Z was born. And to think that just lines are responsible for car design is not looking at the whole picture. American cars of the 50s and 60s were not flowing and sporty in nature. At that time, American fastbacks like the Corvette, Mustang, Barracuda, etc. did not have the flowing lines that would inspire the Z or 2000GT – unless the designer has a really wild imagination. Cars from the 20s and 30s were on a different vintage and hardly influential to cars of the 60s or 70s. If you analyze car design through the decades (time), you’ll see breakthroughs every so many years where it appears a new mold is created and many cars will follow that styling until a new mold is created. So, the only car inspired by 20s or 30s design is the Morgan. I have no problem with the idea that the Z or 2000GT were inspired by a Ferrari 250 GTO or Jaguar E-Type – quite the contrary, I feel honored by the prospect. As a matter of personal preference, I prefer the lines of the 2000GT, but I must admit that the Z is right there as well in terms of lines and appeal. In reality, how may cars can you see today that don’t resemble another design or some other car. I don’t think there is much under the sun in terms of conventional car design anymore. There is only so much you can do with 4 wheels, doors, and windows. What sets them apart are the details and character lines, but even that is getting blurry – have you the cars today? No wonder my newest car is from 1995. Cheers, Marco

280Z Doors
Are door from 240s, 260s and 280s not interchangeable? Is the only difference the mounting for the inside door panel and handle?

SU HS6 on the Z???
Thank you, Dave... I will talk to Bruce later on. Mark, thank you for helping. Question, what did you use for fuel pump? I've been thinking about the Holley pump MSA sells as the head has no provision for mechanical pump. I really want to delete as much as possible from the stock FI, including all electrical components, relays and wiring. Did you do this as well? Cheers, Marco
