  1. Sorry Mike, The USPS goes to BOregon last!!!
  2. Just got my December issue of Classic Motorsports and in it a 2009 Classic Motorsports Calender. The January Pin-Up Girl is none other than Carl Beck's Brock Desert Race Car... Very nice Carl!!! Only thing is, they called him a "fanatic" which of course will put him on a Department of Homeland Security Watch-listLOL
  3. Arne, Since the gas prices went up I have been daily-driving the RT. Darned if I didn't fall in love with it again... My wife keeps saying "isn't it too cold to ride" Nah!!! You should rebuild that K. There is a market for old Beemers. I want an older one myself.
  4. Well, the money has changed hands. I had a friend from my Porsche life go over and give it a looksee... Jon lives 5 miles away and he said it took him just a few minutes to get there. He called me from the guys garage and said the dash is perfect. I sent the money and Jon will take it to UPS to be packed, shipped, and heavily insured. Now, I just have to get together an interior party to put in the new dash and the plastic and vinyl trim. I planned on redoing my seats in the next couple weeks. Mat? Local Z dudes??? Burned cow-flesh and beer is on me!
  5. I suspect I have purchased it. I received email from the seller and I have a friend locally who will look at it, and take it to UPS for packaging, shipping, and a healthy insurance load for the ride...
  6. I had contacted him as well... No response thus far... I even have friends that would come get it and ship if for me.

Yes! That's it! It is called a sight shield. I have one in good condition if anyone is interested. Lots of 280Z's no longer have them.

It is hard to tell from your pictures but I think those might be part of the strut mounts. I may have a set in the garage from the last time I backdated a 280Z. I think what you need is a picture of a FSM page to identify the parts.

I was just going through the boxes in my garage and I found four of these combo switches for the lights and wipers. I think they are 280Z switches from my Pick and Pull diving days... What are they worth? Do they work on my 240Z or should I just sell them?
  10. Busterblasterea, I have a car that I am considering soda blasting. My question is this: The car has fiberglass fender flares fitted to the steel fenders. Will soda blasting damage the fiberglass or remove the body filler work?
  11. I have a 4000 RPM pill for my MSD6AL. My son hasn't figured it out. He thinks I have some program installed in the EFI that senses his key. It's good enough for freeway speed but takes forever and lots of shifting to go quickly in street traffic. To answer the question asked in the thread title... No. I don't think it will ever stop. Sadly, it is a combo of testosterone, inexperience, and desire for acceptance.
  12. Being from Minnesota I can speak to why there was no rust on the Chicago car... Because it is too freakin' cold and there is too much ice and snow to drive your Z about 5 months out of the year. I stored mine in a big barn with about 1000 RV, street rods, boats, etc...
  13. I had their suspension on my ex-Z. To a point it lets you adjust ride height. You should use the suspension adjustments to corner balance the car though. Choose your springs conservatively or you will not like street driving the car. I got mine when Ground Control was a installation and design firm selling their parts to other vendors. Now, Jay and company only mail order... They are still up the street from me.

I notice a rear disc brake kit available on Ebay from a guy in Las Vegas. He has good feedback scores and perhaps he is a member here??? It appears to use an machined adapter and Maxima brake calipers. Anyone using this? What experiences did you have with install and use? My drums are about shot and I see they are NLA!
  15. Carl would probably know more but if I recall correctly the ZZZap cars had the vinyl stripe kit and dual mirrors as well as the rear louvers like the Black Pearl Edition. I have seen a few and they were nice. I am not sure the fact that it is a ZZZap or a Black Pearl will do any more that generate more interest in your car over the others if you were to try to sell it later. For now at least the money cars are the first generation 240Z. Particularly the first 1000 cars. I would bet though by your tone that selling it later is not on your mind. It would make a great project bringing it back to original look. I hope you take lots of pics if you do...
  16. I don't recall everything I once knew about the AFM's but IIRC some have a shut-off for the fuel pump built in while others don't. Again, IIRC the '75-'76 will work for those years while the '77-'78 will work for those years. The rebuilder used by Motorsports Auto is Brett Industries in Orange California. They have rebuilt them for me when I contacted directly at a very good price. You could send it to them... Google them.

That purple car behind you with the Christmas lights is going to take your car away and put you up for the night... Isn't that mountie hat he is wearing cool! Yes, your engine will run better with some back pressure to keep the exhaust moving in the right direction. Otherwise it tends to pulse back and forth. Engineers designed this. Unless you are smarter, fix your exhaust. Yes, you will burn or warp valves. Are you sure you're not in Canada? Zed is usually a term used by Canada, New Zealand, Aus, and Britains... Not that I have a problem with that. Geez, I remember a flame war on the old IZCC mail list about the Zed vs. Z thing.

When you think about a stroker motor, forget HP. The beauty is in the torque not the HP... Easiest way to 300+ HP is a turbo or a supercharger. I don't think anyone is making a supercharger kit for a 30 year old car right now (unless they are crazy) so turbocharging is your best bet... I am currently building a twin turbo typeIV 4 cylinder for a 914 race car that will be 300-400HP depending on boost and have no lag due to the sequential sizes of the turbo's and water to air intercooler. If you do build a turbo - make sure you have great brakes.
