  1. @SteveJ I might need more beer... I've been trying to find LED headlight bulbs for my H4 housings that have been on there for decades. My buddy who owns 914rubber.com sells a pair of LED bulbs for the H4 housings but they are $120 for the pair. That might be a very good deal but I started to question that when I was purchasing the Superbright LED set for my Z, they have H4 bulbs as cheap as $9.95 a pair! (which are installed and brilliant! Pun intended.) Do you have a recommendation? 😎
  2. Hey, sorry to disappear like that. I had work Friday and Saturday, my retirement work week. Plus, I have a vulnerable family member with Covid19 and I get 4-5 calls a day asking about symptoms and treatments. He is my son-in-laws father. Fingers crossed. So my son did a rework which I haven't seen. I suspect it was to properly position the holes. He says that he just put visual holes in the drawing for now. He doesn't want the holes put in until I decide I'm using the 350Z DBW for sure. I guess, I'm driving him nuts. I told him it's payback for having to go through his adolescence with him...
  3. No prototypes were injured by the drilling of holes. That will be done later when I’m sure what eTB I’m using. You sir, are not a pain.
  4. Not sure I can. Instead of having my friend Larry make it at the SpaceX machine shop, this prototype is being made at the UNR Technology Lab by my son. He is actually a UNLV student but because of Covid, he has access to the lab up here. We were actually going to make the first one out of wood or plastic but opted for aluminum CNC as it just might work! I will open source the drawings so others can do this as well. DBW is the shizit!
  5. So, this is being CNC'd today. Hope it works! Fingers crossed!
  6. thx! But do I need more beer?
  7. @SteveJ how does this wire in? Does it just replace the flasher? Do I need more beer? How many are needed?
  8. MC temporarily mounted up to make me feel like I accomplished something!
  9. So, I got the brake booster set today using the tool above. It was only out about 2mm but the spec is .005 so... I had to call Power Brake Exchange to find out how to get the shaft to adjust as it wouldn't move at all. Mike at PBE told me to grab the serrated wheel with a vise grip and turn the 7mm nut in or out depending on which was you need to adjust. Well, that worked! So next on the list too get this thing in the engine compartment is to clean up the front and rear spacers. The front one is vapor blasted and clear coated, the rear has some kind of tenacious sealer on it. They originally had a gasket but Mike at PBE said most cars are just mounted metal to metal. I will put some clear silicone on it to keep water out of the interior. Looks pretty good!
  10. This below is a cut and paste from the product description on Wilwood's site. With 50/50 output, I'd think front rear line switch wouldn't matter as long as the other systems to reduce the rear braking are maintained. I could be wrong. I put tubes in people's throats for a living so hopefully experts step up... Wilwood’s Remote Tandem master cylinders provide one of the safest ways to actuate four wheel or dual caliper axle brake systems. The cylinder features 50/50 output from a 1.00" bore with 1.10" stroke. This master cylinder can be bolted directly to Wilwood's single mount pedals. The kit is shipped complete with the master cylinder, pre-installed 4 ounce reservoirs and 3.38" x 5/16-24 pushrod.
  11. Whenever you do a project like we all do, you have a ton of people you owe thanks to. Especially a forum like this where you ask a question and get an answer you can use and count on. Not just an opinion. In my case, I have watched every one of the YouTube videos that were produced by Francisco Guiterrez three times! @Panchosgarage on YouTube. I found out about this tool from his videos. It is how you set the MC plunger depth so you don't have a long pedal. Gracias Francisco. I'd bet you're here on ClassicZ but I don't know which of us fools you are!
  12. That was quick. Both sold in less than 20 hours... Pending the funds of course but
  13. View Advert 79-81 280ZX Power Brake Booster Rebuilt This is a 79-81 280ZX Power Brake Booster that has been rebuilt by Power Brake Exchange. They powder coated it at an extra charge which created a bit more expense for me. But, it looks fantastic and is mechanically new. This can be used on the earlier cars and multiplies boost over the original PBB. This is a good mod to do if you have gone with a larger master cylinder or have increased your horsepower. When installing, it does require that you remove your clutch MC temporarily to fit it. I had two of these rebuilt and they came out equally beautiful. The price reflects what it cost me to have this done. I'm not making a thing so... The price is + shipping and I'm at 89436 near Lake Tahoe. 14. View Advert 1973 240Z Power Brake Booster Rebuilt This is the original PBB that was on my 240Z from new. I had it rebuilt by Power Brake Exchange and they also powder coated the shells at an extra charge. They tell me it's in great shape, as it should be because I've owned the car since 1980 and it has been garage kept that entire time. The price is plus shipping which shouldn't be too bad depending on where you are. Advertiser conedodger Date 12/13/2020 Price $200.00 Category Parts for Sale
  15. Ok, I'm back after battling Covid for a couple days. Today's job was power brake boosters. As previously mentioned, I sent three power brake boosters out to Power Brake Exchange last week and paid for them on Wednesday. All I can say is WTF! They arrived Thursday! They are quite beautiful and I am sure technically perfect. There was one mistake though... I asked that the 'best' of the two 280ZX calipers be powder coated in the original black, which they know per Mike the guy I spoke to on the phone. They powder coated all three so the ones I sell, will be nicer, but more money... Oh well! The smaller one is of course the 240Z PBB from my 73 which has been beautifully restored. The other is one of the two 280ZX boosters which has been restored. I didn't take pictures of the other 280ZX one so I can leave it packed in its box for selling it. For those of you who started following this thread here and haven't been reading along from the beginning, the 280ZX booster is larger to accommodate the heavier car, but in this case, I'm basically doubling my horsepower with the Rebello stroker so I need more brakes. These will be T3 Willwood kits front and rear and a Willwood master cylinder. The larger booster gives you more assist and makes up (I expect) for the heavy pedal caused by the 1" MC. I will put the two spare rebuilt PBB in the Classified forum as soon as I get around to it...
  16. I am using an Eastwood Pacific Highway Blue on my Porsche 944. Its an easy 1:1 mix and it's part of a system so I know what primer to use etc...
  17. So since I don't have parts to put things back together yet, I decided to work on some little obsessive details. Did I mention I'm obsessive? Not clinically but... I ordered some reproduction side marker lights from ZCar Depot on their Cyber Monday sale. Frankly, they are cheaply made but I can jazz them up a bit I'm sure. As they say resistance is futile! And I hate resistance. So, just like I did on the 914-6 build, I coated grounds with liquid electrical tape and epoxied the back side of connectors to keep corrosion from EVER happening. I will also depin the connectors and cover the wires with good heat shrink...
  18. Well, that's exciting news. I just got off the phone with Michael from Power Brake Booster in San Jose, my three boosters are done. One, I had them powdercoat in the original black. The other two they rebuilt. So they are on the way back to me. If anyone needs a rebuilt booster, let me know. You'd be upgrading to a bit more assist with the ZX booster and getting a rebuilt original 73 240Z booster with the other one.
  19. Steve, I should probably just start a new thread for this, but how do you unpin the Datsun connectors?
  20. Thanks @SteveJ !!! I just ordered their premium Datsun kit for 99.99! 😎
  21. Thanks @SteveJ and thanks to @Patcon for tagging him to the topic. I assume SteveJ is a content expert and I appreciate that! Oh, and I ordered them!
  22. Anyone have a problem with my research on LED lights for my 240Z? Anyone think I need load resistors? I don't know how many Instrument Panel Lights I have so I just ordered a dozen. I did this with my 914-6 and no longer had the idle drop when I turned the lights on. 23. I'm in that registry. I admire what he is trying to do. Seems like a decent guy. He is probably here as well given his enthusiasm.
  24. I'll take them. Tires off, ship to 89436
  25. When I get home, I'll draw the bolt holes for spacer to manifold and eThrottle to spacer... It’s 130mm around and 40mm wide. The bore is 70mm. I have modeled the holes but haven’t gotten it to the point I can post it here. My son knows someone in the UNR Engineering Prototype Lab so we may go make it tomorrow... one thing is for sure, it would be a lot less complicated if the eThrottle had a square bolt pattern!
